Matthew was raised in Monaghan, Ireland. His acting journey began in the local amateur drama scene, but he initially pursued a career in journalism before deciding to follow his true passion for acting. Honing his craft in theatre, Matthew has garnered notable stage credits, including playing Shawn Keogh in The Playboy of The Western World and Frank in The Memory of Water.
He trained for a year at The Gaiety School of Acting, which paved the way for his first screen role in the mini-series Redemption. In 2023, Matthew developed and toured his own play, The Flowers of May, with Two & One Productions. This play is based on his personal experiences as a parent of a child with autism. That same year, he ventured into pantomime with TLT Production's Snow White.
In 2022, Matthew starred in the award-winning short film The Talk, which premiered at The Clones Film Festival. His voice-over work includes credits in Alt-Frequencies and Silicon Docks.
Matthew is married and a proud father of three children, balancing his family life with a dynamic acting career.
