Usually it’s a lot easier and quicker for me to review films one by one but I thought for this release from Vinegar Syndrome, it’s only right to review the release as a whole.
In Search of Bigfoot
Stars: Robert Morgan, Rene Dahinden, John Green, Sam Melville | Written and Directed by Lawrence Crowley, William Miller
First up on this Drive-in Collection double feature, we have the 1975 documentary In Search of Bigfoot, directed by Lawrence Crowley (Bigfoot: Man or Beast) and William Miller (Cowboy Spirit, Mysteries From Beyond the Triangle). The documentary focuses on Robert Morgan (Blood Stalkers, Mako: The Jaws of Death) and his team who set out to locate the legendary Bigfoot. While on their expedition they meet loggers and eyewitnesses who all claim to have either witnessed or interacted with the mythical creature. There are highs and lows for Robert and his team and although an...

Review Caroline Preece 24 Apr 2014 - 09:06
Bringing all of its characters together in one place gets Star-Crossed's plot moving along nicely. Here's Caroline's review...

1.10 What Storm Is This That Blows So
Who knew that, for all of its significant problems, a Star-Crossed episode with all of the characters self-contained in one place could be as entertaining as What Storm is This That Blows So? We had a natural disaster, shady scientists, a couple of breakups, and couple of new romances, Roman on drugs and the rise of the new Red Hawks all in the space of an hour, which is more excitement than the show has managed to cram in the previous nine weeks and romantic pondering and weak threats of violence.
For all of the talk of war and integration, this was the first episode of the show that felt like it mattered. Featuring only the high schoolers on lockdown,...

Review Caroline Preece 17 Apr 2014 - 13:25
This week's episode is a bit of a family affair. Here's Caroline's review...
This review contains spoilers.
1.9 Some Consequence Yet Hanging In The Stars
Family loyalty has been a theme running throughout Star-Crossed, beginning with Roman and Emery’s fathers and the legacy they leave their children, and now the various rivalries brewing in the increasingly complicated family trees for both the Atrians and the humans are starting to bleed down into the lives of our central teenage characters. Grayson has been brought up by Red Hawk parents but doesn’t agree with their beliefs, Emery’s dad killed Roman’s politically important father, Drake’s mother and Roman’s uncle are on opposing sides of the sector and, now, the kids have to choose between people they love in order to land on the right, not to mention the winning, team.
The biggest question mark of this episode,...

There was a lot of badass fighting and a super-cool explosion in episode 7 of The CW's "Star-Crossed," but did any of that really matter once Roman and Emery finally stopped repressing their feelings for each other and, like, totally put their faces on each other's faces? Like, a lot. So much kissing!
Of course, that doesn't spell good things for Emery's relationship with Grayson -- especially after he creeped on her and Roman making out. This might be a stab in the dark, but something tells me Grayson's not going to go down without a fight. Hell hath no fury like a Red Hawk son scorned.
There was plenty of other action on the show in "To Seek A Foe" too: For example, Lukas almost died. It was really scary! He's the happiest dude ever and it would've been a bummer -- especially for Sophia. And apparently Taylor, too, because they're friends?...

After three episodes, Star-Crossed has proved to have more depth than a normal teenage romance would usually have. It takes place in a complex world with complicated relationships between the Human and Atrian communities.
Jesse Luken portrays a high school student, Eric, who has a blatant disdain for the Atrians. I spoke with Luken about Eric's evolution, the friendship with maybe-Red Hawk Grayson, and the dynamic between the show's two extremist groups.

While the first episode of "Star-Crossed" focused on establishing the world -- and the love story -- of The CW's newest drama, the second episode got down to the true nature of the show. There's a love story at work here, sure, but the real fun of "Star-Crossed" is in the juicy political story.
Emery's dad accidentally killed Roman's dad, one of the four tribe leaders of the Atrians, in the pilot. Now, Roman's tribe needed a new leader -- and Roman was the most likely candidate. Roman's uncle, Castor (Johnathon Schaech), volunteered for the job. There's one problem, though -- he used to be a Trag, and Roman didn't really trust him.
Still, Roman has tentatively decided to rely on him. He doesn't have anyone else to give advice, so it might work out. But Roman, responsible, wise-beyond-his-years alien teenager that he is, decided to step up to the plate and lead his tribe.
