Tuesday night's less-than-stellar Denver auditions on "American Idol" got us thinking -- which city yielded the best talent?
Let's take a look back at which Golden Ticket holders we saw emerge from each city.
Boston: Katie Stevens, Maddy Curtis, Ashley Rodriguez, Leah Laurenti, 32 Golden Tickets.
Atlanta: Mallory Haley, Jermaine Sellers, Bryan Walker, Keia Johnson, Holly Hardin, Vanessa Wolfe, General Larry Platt, 25 Golden Tickets.
Chicago: Katelyn Epperly, Charity Vance, Angela Martin, John Park, 13 Golden Tickets.
Orlando: Shelby Dressel, Jermaine Purifoy, Matt Lawrence, Janell Wheeler, the Desimone Sisters, 31 Golden Tickets.
Los Angeles: Jim Ranger, Mary Powers, Andrew Garcia, Tasha Layton, Chris Golightly, 22 Golden Tickets.
Dallas: Erica Rhodes, Todrick Hall, Lloyd Thomas, Kimberly Carver, Dave Pittman, Maegan Wright, 31 Golden Tickets.
Denver: Mark Labriola, Nicci Nix, Tori Kelly, Danelle Hayes, Kimberly Kerbow, Casey James, Haeley Vaughn, 26 Golden Tickets.
Notice how none of the Denver names are links? It's because nobody stood out enough for...

Congratulations! You've survived the first week of American Idol's ninth season audition episodes -- from Boston and Atlanta- but before this week's Chicago (Update: My full recap of the Idol Chicago auditions is now live) and Orlando tryouts make it to your TV set, let's rank the top 20 contendahs! (Oh, and you can vote for your favorite in the poll after the jump!) 20. Holly Hardin: "Guitar Girl" actually delivered a meaty vocal on "You Ain't Woman Enough to Take My Man." But will the judges (and the viewing public) be able to get past that cutesy/annoying first...

Mallorie Haley was our personal favorite from the "American Idol" auditions in Atlanta.
When Mallorie Haley auditioned with the Faith Hill version of "Piece of my Heart," we closed our eyes and felt like we were listening to Carrie Underwood. The vocal resemblance is remarkable.
What do you guys think? Does she sound like Carrie Underwood to you? Even if you don't hear the resemblance, do you like Mallorie anyway?

Atlanta > Boston -- at least when it comes to American Idol season 9 audition shows. Tonight's 90-minute episode -- where guest judge Mary J. Blige switched between uncontrollable laughter and succinct gruffness; "I don't get it" she muttered at a girl dressed like a guitar -- highlighted three or four legitimately talented prospects, without relying on an excess of hokey, overblown backstories. (Huzzah!) [West Coasters: Spoilers lie ahead.] While I go work on my full TV Watch recap (it'll post first thing tomorrow morning at EW.com, so do check back!), you might want to check out some past works by a few of tonight's better...

"American Idol" got a little silly tonight with its "pants on the ground" -- and we loved it.
This might possibly be the funniest thing we've ever seen on "American Idol." Normally we are simply annoyed by the bad auditions but how can you not love a 62 year-old man named General Larry Platt dancing while he sings his song "Pants on the Ground?"
The judges were going bananas and Larry, bless his heart, was going 110% while basically repeating "Pants on the ground, pants on the ground, lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground."
We predict it debuts at #12 on the Nielsen Soundscan singles charts in a couple weeks. Also, if Larry is not back to perform for the finale in May, we are going to be severely disappointed.

Did Holly Hardin look familiar to you Wednesday night on "American Idol?"
She was on "America's Got Talent" two seasons ago (remember, with Queen Emily and the crying opera singer named Boyd something or other?). Hardin got eliminated before the Top 40 on "Talent."
We had this to say about her at the time she auditioned for "Agt': "Strangely, her speaking voice is high and annoying but her singing voice is kind-of smoky and rich."
So what do you think? Do you think Holly can go farther on "Idol" than missing out on the Top 40 for "America's Got Talent?" We aren't so sure. But her impression of the Geico pothole is surprisingly funny and charming.
