“Football is life!” If you’re a true Ted Lasso fan, you probably heard Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández) saying that quote in your head as you read it. And we don’t blame you! This beloved Apple TV+ show is full of lovable characters, who are known for saying some of the most memorable lines. Who can forget when Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) told Sam Obisanya (Toheeb Jimoh), “You know what the happiest animal on Earth is? It’s a goldfish. You know why? It’s got a 10-second memory,” after Jamie Tartt (Phil Dunster) tripped him while they were running drills? Or when Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) confessed to Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham), “I have a confession to make. I’ve never really cared about football. I know. I know it sounds insane, but I know how to act at a match. ‘Referee! Offside, you turnip,'” even though...

Ted Lasso burst onto the entertainment scene in 2020, surprising fans with its warmth, charm, and humor. The series, developed by Saturday Night Live star Jason Sudeikis, tells the story of American college football Ted Lasso who is hired to coach an English soccer team. With the recent debut of the third, and likely final season of Ted Lasso, even more fans are discovering the comedy, where characters frequently say “Football is life.” Interestingly, series star Cristo Fernández dished on the origins of the catchphrase, which didn’t actually come from the writers’ room.

Most of the memorable scenes in Ted Lasso are heartwarming moments. The jokes, the actual soccer matches, it’s all there to serve the relationships between the characters. And yet, the Apple TV+ hit series puts a great amount of effort into making sure everything around the fantastic cast is lavishly filmed and believable. The athletic feats on display were notably kicked up a notch in Season 2, and the cast wasn’t shy about praising the visual effects work that went into the series. But one of the most amazing moments in the entire season actually happened for real.

In episode 5 of "Ted Lasso" season 3, the Greyhounds are coming off of a brutal loss to West Ham that knocks them even further down the Premier League power rankings. Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Richmond's owner and biggest champion, storms into Ted's office and yells, "Are we ever going to win another f***ing match?" Clearly, the team is spiraling and the pressure of joining the Premier League is mounting, causing a rift between Rebecca, the team, and the fans; a rift that's only growing larger week by week.
Of course, the entire Richmond community wants their team to win and Ted has an obligation to make sure they're the best they can be. But season 3 as a whole has become a little too concerned with what's happening on the field and in episode 5, "Signs," the obsession with winning becomes too much of a focus for a show that's always chosen...

Apple TV+’s smash hit comedy series “Ted Lasso” features a mix of comedy, skilled soccer-playing and emotion-inducing vulnerability. Based on a character created and brought to life by Jason Sudeikis, the show has seen two very successful seasons launch, with lots of Emmy love, but with Season 3 on the way, how seriously does its cast take soccer?
Jaime Tartt (Phil Dunster) and Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernandez) have been established as the team’s two aces, while Isaac McAdoo (Kola Bokinni) has taken over the coveted captain role for newly retired and now AFC Richmond Coach Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein).
According to an interview with IndieWire, actors who portrayed professional soccer players in “Ted Lasso” had to display their soccer skills during auditions.

It's just getting worse. Sure, it's still nostalgically curious to watch the beloved characters, but producer Sara Gilbert continues her risky yet uninteresting television mogul moves by presenting unfunny drivel.
Laughs are growing fewer and further between, except for Alicia Goranson's Becky, the only character who gets any laughs anymore. It's more clear than ever that Roseanne was the magic glue to make this vessel float. And now it's drowning.

This story about “Ted Lasso” first appeared in the Down to the Wire issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine.
On the surface a fish-out-of-water comedy about a Midwestern football coach who’s hired to take over a struggling soccer team on the outskirts of London even though he has no experience with the sport, AppleTV’s “Ted Lasso” ends up being a lot more than that. The show, which set an Emmy record for a first-year comedy series by racking up 20 nominations, is in some ways gloriously optimistic and sunny, but it also stares down loss and depression as it dares to find tenderness and forgiveness. It’s a foul-mouthed comedy but also an open-hearted testament to healing, and a welcome balm in tough times.

Ted Lasso’s Roy Kent (Brett Goldstein) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple) are a special kind of TV couple. Like other character pairings on Bill Lawrence-produced shows before them, Roy and Keeley reject the “will they or won’t they” sitcom binary.
Instead these are two adults who share an intense emotional and physical connection and who are bound and determined to make an adult relationship work. The show has already borne the fruit of their efforts. After a touching conclusion to season 1, Roy and Keeley’s dynamic got even more acute in season 2’s first episode. The soft-spoken ex-footballer, emboldened by the relationship with his better half, passionately informs Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) that she should never, ever settle.
It was a monologue that indicated just how far Roy and Keeley have come (and one that got basically half...

Is Ted Lasso a good coach, or just a good person? Are the two mutually exclusive? There's no denying that Coach Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) is the most heartwarming character on TV. However, following the season two premiere of Apple TV+'s Ted Lasso, we found ourselves questioning whether the often-inspiring character is actually good at his job. For those who've yet to tune in, the new episode kicked off with AFC Richmond struggling to perform after seven straight ties. To make matters worse, star player Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández) even began questioning his "Football is Life" mantra after accidentally killing the beloved mascot, Earl Greyhound. You'd think this would be Ted's time to shine, right? Wrong. Unable to shake the yips from Dani,...

In its first season, Apple TV+ comedy Ted Lasso was regarded as an optimistic breath of fresh air.

Ted Lasso is back, but is it better than ever? The answer is yes -- thousand times yes.
Ted Lasso Season 2 Episode 1 wastes no time getting the audience back into the action and improving on what came before.
Ted Lasso became a huge hit because its optimism and commitment to nuanced character work created something irresistibly joyful. Watching it is like eating an ice cream sundae without worrying about the calories.
However, as beloved as the show has become, it doesn't mean Ted Lasso is entirely immune from criticism.
Since the humor on Ted Lasson Season 1 was low-key for the most part, it raised the question of whether Ted Lasso a comedy or a comedy in name only?

Ted Lasso may seem like he's all biscuits and sunshine, but he does have a dark side. On Monday, June 21, Apple TV+ released an all-new trailer for season two of Ted Lasso, and introduced viewers to the beloved football coach's angry alter ego. Per the just-released teaser, Ted (played by Jason Sudeikis) has been fully embraced by the AFC Richmond community, including boss Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham) and the oh-so critical fans. However, the football team's performance on the pitch is less than stellar. Even football-loving, superstar-on-the-rise Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández) is struggling to make magic happen on the field. Behind the uplifting humor of Apple TV’s hit comedy series “Ted Lasso” — about a London-based soccer team and their optimistic American coach — is a charming ensemble complementing Jason Sudeikis’ star turn as the title character. British casting director Theo Park is the woman partly responsible for that on-screen alchemy.
Sudeikis, one of series co-creators and an executive producer, was the loudest creative voice when it came to building the ensemble, which meant he had final say in every casting decision. His steadfast vision facilitated Park’s search. “It was all about how Jason perceived the roles. All I needed to do was have a quick chat with him about what he wanted and then it was clear,” she told IndieWire from London.
Even if Sudeikis had veto power, the concept lent itself to plenty of exploration, especially considering neither Sudeikis nor the other producers knew many British actors. Park,...

Auditioning for a role on “Ted Lasso’s” AFC Richmond squad required not only acting chops but some credible soccer — excuse us, football — skills as well. “They had to be really good actors and play football really well,” casting director Theo Park tells Gold Derby at our Meet the Experts: TV Casting Directors panel (watch the exclusive video interview above). “It was really exciting to see actors who I knew show me their amazing football skills.”
While most of those auditions were self-tapes, Park and her team had the actors kick around a ball in the parking lot for some of the smaller footballer roles. But discovering some who were, such as Cristo Fernández, who plays the wildly hysterically funny Latin American soccer player Dani Rojas in AppleTV+’s Ted Lasso, was a feat worth screaming “goal” about for series co-creator Bill Lawrence and casting director Theo Park.
“Anybody we cast is going to have shootable football-soccer skills, so that we don’t have to stunt double everybody,” added Lawrence about the types of actors the production was looking for in its first season.
We talk with Lawrence and Park today on Crew Call about assembling the losing English Premier League team, AFC Richmond, which fish-out-water-Kansas native yank coach Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is tasked with overseeing. Unlike other comedy series on streaming and cable networks, which are devoted to casting established character actors and comedic faces, Ted Lasso...

"Football is life!" It seems we'll be hearing that a lot more once Ted Lasso season two premieres on Apple TV+ July 23. In an exclusive chat with E! News, Ted Lasso writer Jamie Lee revealed that fans can expect more of enthusiastic football player Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández) and his above mantra. "I can say there's a little more Dani Rojas," Jamie exclusively shared with E! News. "So, that's fun because people love him." For those unfamiliar with the show, Ted Lasso follows Jason Sudeikis as the titular character, an American football coach with little soccer—or as the rest of the world calls it, football—knowledge that takes on a job coaching...

TV provided a lot of memorable musical moments this year.
Some were amazing, and some were very disturbing.
Plus a few classics were dusted off and found new life during these dark times.
1. "Wonderwall"/"Bad Romance"/"Let It Go" - Ted Lasso
Just when you thought Afc Richmond football couldn't score any higher in the adorable and endearing categories, they went to a karaoke bar on Ted Lasso Season 1 Episode 7.
Sam's rendition of "Wonderwall" was heartfelt. Coach Beard's performance of "Bad Romance" would make Lady Gaga proud. Then Rebecca brought down the house with "Let It Go."
The only thing more entertaining than the singers were the reactions of the usually gruff Roy Kent and a shirtless Dani Rojas.
2. "I Want to be Evil"/"Someone to Watch Over Me - Lucifer
Compared to Lucifer Season 4, the first half of Lucifer Season 5 didn't feature the cast showing off their vocals as often.

Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis) is all up in his own head, which is definitely not cleared, in TheWrap’s exclusive sneak peek from Episode 6 of the Apple TV+ series.
In the video, readers will also (finally?) learn Coach Beard’s (Brendan Hunt) favorite bath balm, and a little too much information about Nate’s (Nick Mohammed) skin.
Watch the video above.
In the sixth episode, entitled “Two Aces,” when Jamie (Phil Dunster) refuses to train, Ted turns to talented new signing Dani Rojas (Cristo Fernández) — and the team is struck by an age-old curse.
The titular character in this “Ted Lasso” is a small-time college football coach from Kansas who was hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer. The series also stars Hannah Waddingham, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein.
Sudeikis serves as executive producer, alongside Bill Lawrence (“Scrubs”) via his Doozer Productions,...

Far Cry 6 has been confirmed by Ubisoft after the surprise was spoiled by a PlayStation Store Hong Kong listing ahead of its official reveal during Ubisoft Forward.
Far Cry 6 will take place on the fictional island of Yara. It will follow a young soldier named Dani Rojas who will fight against Yara’s dictator, Anton Castillo (notably played by Breaking Bad‘s Giancarlo Esposito).
The game’s cover shows Castillo standing with his hands on the shoulder of a young boy who appears to be his son (and eventual successor), Diego. It seems that the pair are intent on restoring Yara “to its former glory by any means,” which has resulted in a series of violent incidents that eventually lead Rojas and others to revolt.
Far Cry 6 promises to offer the “largest Far Cry playground to date” with a map that features jungles, beaches, and the urban environment of Esperanza...
