Mario Miranda was born in 1926 in Loutolim, Goa, Portuguese India [now Loutolim, Goa, India]. Mario is known for The Sea Wolves (1980). Mario died on 11 December 2011 in Loutolim, Goa, India.
He was one of India's best-known cartoonists and illustrators. His comic drawings of local characters and culture helped to popularize his native state of Goa, both across India and overseas. He worked as a cartoonist in newspapers like the now-defunct Current and later with the Illustrated Weekly of India magazine, Midday, and Economic Times. At the height of his popularity in the 1970s and 80s, his work appeared in textbooks, calendars, murals and magazines.
