Once Bob Odenkirk and Rhea Seehorn both lost on their 2022 Emmy nominations for “Better Call Saul,” their show joined “Murder, She Wrote” in first place on the list of drama series with the most unsuccessful TV academy acting notices and no wins, at 13. With six regulars and seven guests on this year’s first-round ballot, the recently concluded AMC program could potentially double its current acting Emmy nominations total and comfortably surpass that of its parent series, “Breaking Bad” (17). However, if it at least reaches 19 and none of its 2023 contenders triumph, it will set a new record as the show with the most failed acting bids and no wins, regardless of genre.
“Better Call Saul” ran for a total of six seasons, the last of which was split into two parts. After primarily beginning as a prequel series to “Breaking Bad” about formerly supporting character Jimmy McGill (aka Saul Goodman...

This article contains spoilers for The Consultant.
Prime Video’s new horror/satire/workplace comedy-drama The Consultant is based on the novel of the same name by Bentley Little. It stars Oscar-winning actor Christoph Waltz in the role of Regus Patoff, a mysterious new boss of a video game development company called CompWare. It becomes clear quite quickly that something is very off about the way he runs the firm.
The show has many different mystery and thriller undertones that kept us interested in what was to come next, but the ending of the finale may be hard to understand if you weren’t paying full attention to specific plot points earlier in the season. That’s where we come in! What was the point of Regus’ takeover of CompWare? And what are the fates of the two employees we followed all season, Craig and Elaine (Nat Wolff and Brittany O’Grady)? Let’s find out!

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Better Call Saul” Season 6, Episode 9, “Fun and Games.”]
For as much as “Better Call Saul” has functioned as a prequel, one of its undeniable strengths has been looking at what happens when the smoke clears. It’s a show that rises to its most harrowing moments, as the past few weeks have shown. The latest chapter, “Fun and Games,” is a different kind of trick, the ability to embed that same kind of stomach-dropping firepower in a handful of conversations. It’s an hour of faces of people forced to reckon with what’s now broken in their own lives, whether or not they fully blame themselves for doing the actual breaking.
Kim (Rhea Seehorn) and Jimmy (Bob Odenkirk) get the lion’s share of the opening (filled with two of the most mischievous match cuts this creative team has ever pulled off), as they each follow Mike’s instructions...

Spoiler Alert: Do not read if you have not watched “The Long and Winding Road,” the third episode of “The Resident” Season 5.
The third episode of the fifth season of “The Resident” finally fully answered how Nic (Emily VanCamp) would be written out of the Fox drama: She was killed off.
The actor’s exit was announced in August, just a little less than a month before the fifth season premiered. In that first episode back, Nic’s absence was explained as her being at a spa, communicating with Conrad (Matt Czuchry) only via phone (though never FaceTime). VanCamp did record voice work for these scenes, but she did not appear on-screen until the third episode, titled “The Long and Winding Road,” which was her final one.

In the Hulu series Love, Victor, Victor (Michael Cimino), comes off as a cool and charming guy, and acts as the peacekeeper among his family. However, right away, we learn his chance to fully embrace this fresh start and to begin a journey into self-discovery could be hindered by his family. In his first of many messages to Simon (Nick Robinson), he writes, "Screw you. Screw you for having the world's most perfect, accepting parents. The world's most supportive friends. Because for some of us, it's not that easy."
It's established early on that Victor is closest to his religious mother Isabel (Ana Ortiz). Isabel constantly reminds Victor how lucky she is that he's her "rock" and whenever she prays for him she just says thank you. With a "religious parent and gay child" dynamic (see Glee or Pretty Little Liars), I was expecting for things to go south quickly,...

Will the fifth season be the charm for AMC’s “Better Call Saul,” a prequel to the Emmy-winning “Breaking Bad”? “Saul” has been nominated for Best Drama Series every season of its run so far, and it has accumulated a total of 32 nominations overall, but it has yet to win a single category. It has plenty of chances in 2020, though. Scroll down to see the show’s 40 submissions on the Emmy ballots from Best Drama Series all the way down to Best Sound Mixing.
“Saul” follows the career of Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk), a lawyer who will eventually transform himself into the underworld defender Saul Goodman we knew for several seasons on “Breaking Bad.” Odenkirk was never nominated for his performance on that show, but he has been nominated four times for Best Drama Actor for “Saul”. And supporting actor Jonathan Banks has been nominated all those same years too,...

Twin Peaks Recap is a weekly column by Keith Uhlich covering David Lynch and Mark Frost's limited, 18-episode continuation of the Twin Peaks television series.A man walks into a bar—after cursing out Gene Kelly (because most of the time we don't feel like singin' in the rain). The bar, by the way, is named "Max Von's," surely after Erich von Stroheim's rabidly devoted butler Max von Mayerling from Sunset Blvd (1950). Of his employer, silent-film diva Norma Desmond (Gloria Swanson), Max once said, "Madame is the greatest star of them all." No more proper locale, then, for a star entrance: "Diane," says FBI forensics specialist Albert Rosenfield (Miguel Ferrer) to a platinum blond beauty nursing martini and cigarette. Around turns Diane Evans, the heretofore unseen confidante of FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan), and played (of course, how could there be any doubt?) by Laura Dern.

The new "Twin Peaks" isn't slated to debut on Showtime until 2017, but a flurry of speculation about it happened last week with a tweet from Go For Locations indicating that filming had wrapped on the "first two seasons" of the series.
The episode count for the David Lynch-directed series was always in question, but that tweet suggested we'd be getting even more episodes than originally planned. Said tweet has since been deleted, so we'll have to wait to see how that pans out.
in the meantime in more official news, Showtime, Lynch and Mark Frost has released the official cast list for the new series with a whopping 217 names across the various episodes - a list that includes some real surprise big name inclusions such as Monica Bellucci, Michael Cera, Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Eddie Vedder, Ashley Judd, Ernie Hudson, Jim Belushi, Richard Chamberlain, Laura Dern,...

"Ab Aeterno" is one of the better episodes of this season of "Lost" for several reasons, chief among them that this show genuinely enjoys getting caught up in its own complicated backstory. At times, yes, the episode felt like a bit of an exposition dump, but it was the first episode in a long while to stay almost completely in one timeline, and it also filled in some interesting gaps in the history of the island and some major characters. But it was also notable for the way it played into the show's love of moral ambiguity. If Verbal Kint's hypothesis was that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world he didn't exist, then the "Lost" version is that the Devil's greatest trick was convincing the world that he's actually God. "Lost" isn't afraid to call good and evil for what they are, but it's also not prone to...

The March 23 episode will focus on Richard Alpert and – God willing – we'll finally get to learn more about his backstory. From recent episodes I think it's safe to assume what many had suspected – that Richard is somehow tied to the Black Rock ship (possibly as a slave on the ship), that Jacob seemed to "gift" him with immortality. From the synopsis below we can see that both Jacob and the Man in Black will be making appearances, so flashbacks to Richard's life are probably likely.
I like the side-ways universe but, as I told Doc Arzt last night, I'd rather the show be focusing on the island and solving its mysteries than showing us another universe with familiar characters. We still don't know how or why the never-crash universe is important and I'm getting kind of antsy. So if a Richard-centric episode will focus on the island, then I'm all for it.
