Following a sweeping reorganization in September that saw digital vet Jordan Levin ascending to general manager of Rooster Teeth, as three of the company’s co-founders -- Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, and Burnie Burns -- stepped into creatively-focused roles, the Austin-based digital outfit today announced several more leadership changes.
First, Rooster Teeth has promoted Doreen Copeland (pictured above) from VP and head of production operations to VP and head of production. Throughout her tenure at Rooster Teeth, Copeland has produced myriad projects, from Lazer Team to Day 5. Additionally, the WarnerMedia-owned studio has upped two of its in-house producers -- Joe Clary and Sean Hinz to serve as its new co-heads of animation. Prior to being promoted, Clary served as lead producer for Rwby Volumes 6 and 7, while Hinz managed the production teams for Rtaa and Death Battle.

With his latest animated series gen: Lock, Gray G. Haddock looked to build on the previous successes of Rooster Teeth, the Austin-based studio where he serves as Head of Animation, while presenting an experience that pushed boundaries, in a number of ways.
A viral hit in 2012 that was then expanded with four subsequent volumes, Rooster Teeth’s Rwby set a precedent that all of the studio’s later series would strive to live up to. “Creatively, there was an incredible amount of pressure placed on the production for this show to succeed right out of the gate,” Haddock says. “I wanted to apply the lessons learned from stumbling backwards into the success that was Rwby, trying to recreate some of that alchemy, but also adding enough fresh ingredients and approaches to things that it wasn’t simply a Rwby clone.”

“Rwby” volume 6, the latest installment of Rooster Teeth’s popular anime-style series, will premiere Oct. 27, the company announced.
The new season (which Rooster Teeth dubs “volumes”) will initially be available on the company’s subscription-streaming service, which starts at $4.99 monthly, with new episodes to be released on a weekly basis.
“Rwby” is set in the magical world of Remnant, in which four girls — Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang — fight legions of evil monsters. Evan Narcisse, a journalist-turned-comic writer who penned a limited prequel series for Marvel dubbed Rise Of The Black Panther, has joined the writers room for Rooster Teeth’s highly-anticipated gen:lock anime sci-fi series. Coincidentally, gen:lock stars Michael B. Jordan, who also appeared in February's acclaimed Black Panther feature.

At first glance, the nondescript stucco structure in front of me could have been any other office building in Austin, Texas. But if the millions of Rooster Teeth fans around the world knew where this unmarked and (mostly) undisclosed establishment was, it would be their ultimate mecca. Why? Because hidden behind its doors are the staff, projects, and secrets of the digital production company’s entire animation department.
As I approach the building and see Rooster Teeth’s public relations manager Sophie Turcotte waiting for me at the door, dressed in a smart day-to-night dress (she has to go to the Day 5 season two red carpet premiere that night), I’m highly aware fans of the company’s web series like Rwby, Red vs. Blue, and Animated Adventures would kill to be in my black wedges right now. As it expans beyond its gaming-oriented roots, Rooster Teeth has paid particular attention to the world of animation, from which it has mined several long-form projects. The latest in that line is Sex Swing, a ribald comedy based on characters created by the Rooster Teeth-owned Funhaus channel.
Sex Swing will follow the misadventures of its titular band, a rock outfit that lives a hard-partying lifestyle. The series is stylistically similar to the show Metalocalypse, as Rooster Teeth looks to grab a piece of the adult animation boom led by Adult Swim.
Like many other Rooster Teeth projects, Sex Swing will feature several of the studio’s staff members and frequent collaborators in its principal roles. The show’s voice actors include Barbara Dunkelman, Jordan Cwierz, Gray G. Haddock, and Kerry Shawcross, and the original Sex Swing shorts were released through Funhaus, which was formed by the old Inside Gaming crew back in 2015. Cwierz,...

Rooster Teeth’s annual Rtx convention kicked off on August 7, 2015, with a panel dedicated to the production company’s anime series Rwby. In a packed ballroom, animation leads Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna, and Gray Haddock, along with the four lead voice actresses, discussed their plans for the future of Rwby.

But like it or not, certain titles come along that are so big, they define an era, or sometimes, redefine the whole industry.
Fullmetal Alchemist was a Big deal. Ghost in the Shell was, and continues to be huge, and has helped bring mainstream attention to what was, at one time, a fringe hobby. Recently, Ouran High School Host Club has been a very big hit, with fans anticipating its release long before the show hit Us shores. D. Gray Man seemed poised for similar success, what with the large numbers of black and white costumed exorcists showing up at cons everywhere,...
