- Simon Ozolins is a highly regarded, multi-award-winning Director of Photography with an extensive body of work across film, television, short films, documentary and commercials. He is an accredited member of The Australian Cinematographers Society. His latest TV series is Amazon Prime's dark, feminist crime thriller, Deadloch, which was shot in Tasmania's uniquely gothic landscape and has received rave reviews worldwide. Most recently, he wrapped Series 2 of HeartBreak High for Netflix, after being nominated for an ACCTA award for best cinematography for his work on record-breaking Series 1. Simon has also shot the TV drama The Unusual Suspects for SBS which he received a ACS National Golden Tripod Award and The Other Guy series 2 for Stan. His film work includes the sci-fi horror Crawlspace, and Audrey, the highly anticipated black comedy set on the Gold Coast.
As well as longer form work, Simon has shot many award-winning short films, including 62 Sleeps which triumphed at both the Berlin and Sydney Film festivals, and Dugong and The Wake, which were selected by Sundance and screened at Tribeca and Palm Springs. Simon's documentary credits include the AFI Award-winning Inside the Firestorm for the ABC and Immigration Nation for SBS, and his extensive and highly regarded commercial portfolio extends to hundreds of major brands in both Australia and abroad for which he has won several Gold ACS Awards. Simon also has a significant reputation in the music video industry, shooting the award-winning Walking on a Dream for Empire of the Sun which won the ARIA Award for Best Music Video, and Billy Thorpe's Tangier, for which he received the ACS National Golden Tripod Award.
