Be Ready to Discover the history of Alexander: The Making of a God in part 2 of the Netflix series! Co-directed by Hugh Ballantyne with the assistance of Jane McLean Guerra and Christopher Bell, ‘Alexander: The Making of a God offers a sneak peek into the amazing conquests of the historical icon, Alexander.
The series is fresh, with a candid approach along with a contemporary account of how things go – but one of the better things about the series is that it is strictly based on facts and facts alone.
However, the first season was a success, so the possibility of a second season remains the question of the hour. Here’s everything to know about the second season!

There is no dearth of historical documentaries on Netflix. The numbers are staggering, and it is interesting how the platform is bringing forward never-before-heard or seen stories of kings and queens from around the world. They also cover stories of other figures from the ancient world, which helps the audience receive a different perspective on the lives they led. It allows us to understand the politics of the world and the contribution of a respective figure in world history. It could be a cultural or political impact that survived all this time for historians to speak about and educate people about. History cannot be restricted to school textbooks anymore. It is interesting that this subject is being presented through Ott platforms in a way that is very different from classroom lessons.

Review Billy Grifter 16 May 2013 - 10:53
Billy wonders how many names one character can have, in this week's Defiance...
This review contains spoilers.
1.5 The Serpent's Egg
As a reviewer it's worth appreciating that not all shows can hit the road running, and that greater story arcs need to be fed in once the ground rules have been created. That's where Defiance is now, and in that respect The Serpent's Egg is essentially a spur for some story development down the line.
The framework for hatching of these plots was a storyline as old as the hills themselves, best used in Stagecoach (1939). Except in Defiance it's a coach that travels between outposts, and delivers the mail, among other things. Anyone who has watched that classic movie, or the many dozens of reworkings of that concept will know that there are always two threats; the obvious one, and the other not so obvious.

Chicago – Robert Schwentke’s adaptation of the beloved novel “The Time Traveler’s Wife” was mostly critically ridiculed in theaters but should make for a satisfying rental this Valentine’s Day and deserves a second consideration from those that completely dismissed it at first. It looks beautiful in HD and the film’s flaws are easier to forgive at home without the expectation of this long-awaited project.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0
Ultimately, I wish “The Time Traveler’s Wife” was weirder. A tale about a man who travels through time but stays betrothed to his one true love should be awash in romance, magic, and surrealism. It should be poetry, not prose. And when Schwentke, writer Bruce Joel Robin, and, notably, cinematographer Florian Ballhaus allow the film to focus on themes more than practicalities, it nearly works.
The Time Traveler’s Wife was released on Blu-ray and DVD on February 9th, 2010.

The players: Director: Robert Schwentke, Writer: Bruce Joel Rubin, Cast: Rachel McAdams, Eric Bana, Ron Livingston, Jane McLean, Arliss Howard
Facts of interest: Based on the novel by Audrey Niffenegger.
The plot: The film chronicles the love story between a young woman and a man who involuntarily travels through time.
Our thoughts: Even though I really tried to make it last a bit, my interest in Robert Schwentke’s big-screen romance “The Time Traveler’s Wife” almost disappeared as quickly as Eric Bana does in the film. I know it can be tough to take a movie like this one seriously in the first place, but I definitely tried. Alas, what I got in return almost wasn’t worth my time at all…...

District 9 Studio: Sony Pictures Rated: R for bloody violence and pervasive language. Starring: Sharlto Copley, Jason Cope, David James, Mandla Gaduka and William Allen Young Directed by: Neill Blomkamp What it’s about: After an alien craft comes to earth 28 years ago, the creatures on board are restricted to a refugee camp in Johannesburg, South Africa. Now, the South African government is evacuating the alien prawns to a new location. When a bureaucrat leads an evacuation force into District 9, he stumbles into a secret among the aliens that puts him on their side of the conflict. What I liked: District 9 embodies the essence of speculative fiction, which allows storytellers to present concepts and ideas to an audience, using a fantastic element that reveals something insightful about ourselves. This film holds a mirror up to its audience and dares us to look into it and decide if the reflection is accurate. District 9...
