It’s a new year and film fans are looking forward to this year’s crop of movies. Some are more anticipated than others. Here is an alphabetical list of 14 of my most eagerly awaited films for 2014.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2: The first of several planned sequels to The Amazing Spider-Man ups the ante this time with three villains: Electro (Jamie Foxx), the Rhino (Paul Giamatti) and the Green Goblin (Chris Cooper). There is also a rumor that Felicity Jones may be playing the Black Cat. In the film, our arachnid hero learns more about the mystery of his parent’s deaths while the threat from Oscorp and its reclusive owner Norman Osborn begins to grow. Andrew Garfield reprises his role of the heroic Peter Parker/Spider-Man, and Emma Stone is back as his lovely love interest Gwen Stacy. Marc Webb directs. The film comes out on May 2 nd.

In what looks like a film that escaped the bargain bin at Wal-Mart, we have a new trailer for the delayed animated sequel Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return. With animation that feels unfinished and cheap, a surprising all-star cast that includes Lea Michele ("Glee") along with veteran actors like Patrick Stewart, Martin Short, Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer and more populate this film which sees Dorothy Gale's (Michele) return to the magical land of Oz, where she reunites with the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion (along with some silly new companions) to face a new threat, the Jester, who is trying to control Oz with the wand of the Wicked Witch of the West. Yeah, sounds pretty damn stupid to us. New trailer for Will Finn & Dan St. Pierre's Legends of Oz: Dorothy's Return, originally from Yahoo: Directed by Will Finn & Dan St. Pierre and written by...

There's been an increased interest lately in returning to L. Frank Baum's wonderful world of Oz on the big screen. Sam Raimi is tackling a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz story with his upcoming Oz The Great and Powerful, and Stephen Daldry (Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close) could be helming a feature film adaptation of the Broadway hit Wicked, which is an origin story for the Wicked Witch of the West. Here's the trailer for another Oz-related tale called Dorothy of Oz, an animated sequel that looks more like a video game than a movie. It follows Dorothy as she returns to save the magical land from an evil jester. Here's the first trailer for Will Finn & Dan St. Pierre's Dorothy of Oz via YouTube: Directed by Will Finn & Dan St. Pierre and written by Adam Balsam & Barry Glasser (from Roger Baum's book), Dorothy of Oz...

Dorothy of Oz is a new CGI animated musical from Summertime Entertainment, due out in 2012. The panel began with a clip reel composed of a few finished scenes combined with concept art. The montage showed off some of the impressive voice talent such as Glee's Lea Michele (as Dorothy herself), Wicked's Megan Hilty, Dan Aykroyd, Oliver Platt, Martin Short, Kelsey Grammer, Jim Belushi, Hugh Dancy, and Sir Patrick Stewart.
Panelists included producers Bonne Radford & Ryan Carroll, composer Debra Lurie, writer Roger Baum (grandson of original Oz creator L. Frank Baum) and voice actors Megan Hilty & Sir Patrick Stewart, in his first Comic–Con appearance.

Roger Baum said the creation of the new Oz books had its impetus as a personal bet to continue his grandfather's legacy. Producer Radford just wanted to remain faithful to the Baum legacy.

Deborah Lurie has signed on to score the upcoming animated 3D musical Dorothy of Oz. The movie’s story is an update on The Wizard of Oz and centers on Dorothy Gale who is returning to a tornado-devastated Kansas and then being transported back to Oz to help her friend. The movie’s voice cast includes Lea Michele, Jim Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Kelsey Grammer, Oliver Platt, Martin Short, Megan Hilty and Hugh Dancy. Dorothy of Oz is directed by Dan St. Pierre (Everyone’s Hero). While Lurie is writing the score, the film’s songs are written by Bryan Adams, Tift Merritt and Jim Vallance. Jim Dooley is providing additional songs and lyrics. The film is set for a spring 2012 release. To find out more about Dorothy of Oz, visit the official movie webpage.

Comic-Con is chockablock with panels and presentations and Q&A’s and autograph signings. It can all get a bit confusing — check out the full schedule here if you don’t believe us. To guide you through next week’s geekfest, we’ve put all the big TV and movie presentations from the massive Hall H and Ballroom 20 rooms in one place. We’ll be talking about some of the less-hyped hidden-gems of Comic-Con later this week, but consider this your guide to what people will be talking about on Twitter, hour-by-hour.

I can’t believe another Comic-Con is almost upon us. That whole, odd, everything goes faster when you are older thing really is rather annoying. Not that I don’t like Cc… it’s a fairly mind boggling event when you think about it… it’s just that I could have sworn I was just there.
This year is going to be different for two reasons. One, for the first part of the festival, I’ll get to show the insanity off to Timo Descamps and Danny De Jong. It’s going to be their last look at America for the year; they wing their way home to Belgium from San Diego. They already think we Americans are a bit… unique. It will be interesting to hear their opinions after they see throngs of armored, light-saber weilding, Pikachu’s dancing with thong-clad Skeletors and leather-bra wearing Conans.

Over the weekend, San Diego Comic-Con announced the programming schedule for Saturday and Sunday at this year's convention. Usually, Saturday is the most impressive day as it's the weekend and has the biggest amount of people coming into the area while Sunday is usually the most unexciting day as it's the final day of the event and everything is winding down. For 2011, each day is going in the opposite direction. Saturday's movie programming is very underwhelming, save for a few films like Snow White and the Huntsman and Francis Ford Coppola's Twixt, with more cool TV panels popping up than usual. Sunday is significantly better than usual, especially if you like TV, with Hall H panels on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Glee and more. Read about the highlights, with commentary and more after the jump. To be fair, most of these complaints stem from the fact that the...

It may be the second to last day of Comic Con, but things are far from slowing down. In fact, both movies and TV are in great supply the Saturday of the show. Maybe even to abundant...surely attendees and press alike will be making sacrifices as they pick and choose which events to see. Make your decision after the jump.

While television freaks may leave with fully loaded, there's fewer offers for movie fans on the Saturday, July 23 event of San Diego Comic Con this year. There's actually less than six movies which hold a panel on the third day but plenty of seminars, workshops and discussions with people in the movie industry are available.
Those craving for more insight from filmmakers can join an hour with Joss Whedon who would talk about his next ventures. The panel, which would also discuss his TV and comic works, would be held at 3 P.M. at Indigo Ballroom, Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Meanwhile, Kevin Smith can be found for a Q &A at Hall H at 5:45 P.M.
Below is the rundown of some movie panels on Saturday which are all held at Hall H. For the complete schedule including panels for "Twilight" and "Indiana Jones" fans, head on to the festival's official site.

"Glee" star Lea Michele is putting on Judy Garland's ruby slippers -- or at least an animated representation of her is.
Michele has signed on to play Dorothy Gale in an animated film called "Dorothy of Oz." The movie is being made by independent company Summertime Entertainment and is tentatively scheduled for release in the spring of 2012.
"She's our Judy Garland," producer Bonne Radford tells the Los Angeles Times about Michele. The role will have her singing several songs as well as doing voiceover work.
"Dorothy of Oz" is based on a children's book by Roger Baum, the great-grandson of "Wizard of Oz" author L. Frank Baum. The story finds Dorothy returning to Oz to find the magical land in a state of decay and her old friends Scarecrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion disappeared.
The voice cast also includes Dan Aykroyd, Kelsey Grammer and Martin Short. Dan St. Pierre...
