Becky G has been tapped to join the 2024 Latin American Music Awards ceremony as a host and performer.
The Mexican-American singer will serve as a host for the show, airing April 25 on Univision and its sibling networks, alongside previously announced talents Alejandra Espinoza, an actor and presenter; Carlos Ponce, a singer-songwriters and TV personality; and singer Thalia.
Becky G also will perform her new song, “Mercedes,” during the 2024 Latin AMAs alongside Mexican music artist Oscar Maydon, who is featured on the track. Becky G, who has won a total of eight Latin AMAs over her career, is nominated this year for best collaboration, urban, for “Arranca,” featuring Omega.
“Hosting and performing at the Latin AMAs, just after releasing ‘Mercedes,’ feels like stepping into a whirlwind of excitement and creativity,” Becky G said. “It’s a celebration of past achievements and future aspirations, all wrapped up into a vibrant event that honors nuestra música.

Feid fans, it’s that time of year: Every December, the Colombian star has been known to drop a surprise EP or project for his day ones. Tonight, he’s done it again: Ferxxo has a holiday gift in store with Ferxxocalipsis, a 10-track project that dives into the deliciously dark side of reggaeton.
The EP starts with the moody “Alakran,” where Feid calls the “chimbitas” to attention before breaking into full-throttle perreo. Elsewhere, he keeps the party going with tracks like “50 Palos” and “Desquite.” The Ferxxocalipsis ends with “Classy...

Leading up to the Grammy nominations on Nov. 10, Rolling Stone is breaking down 16 different categories. For each, we’re predicting the nominees, as well as who will (and who should) win on Grammy night.
The academy has a tough decision that ultimately comes down to Karol G’s history-making accomplishments or Tainy’s sprawling production genius. Both artists are familiar to Grammy voters: Karol cinched her first nomination in 2022, for her album KG0516, while Tainy won last year thanks to his credits on the Bad Bunny blockbuster Un Verano Sin Ti.

Young Miko, J Balvin, and Jowell y Randy are showing their colmillos, or fangs, on their long-awaited collaboration with Tainy. On Wednesday, the five artists teamed up and released an Edm-backed, perreo mega-collab, along with its cinematic video.
The video, directed by Pau Carreté, opens with a seeming attempted robbery before cutting to close-ups of Young Miko singing the opening lyrics of the song. The scenes flash between the star, a dancing robot, and a kitten. Balvin then comes in as images of New York City flash onscreen. He raps...

Since breaking through with songs like “Otro Trago” and “Solita” back in 2019, Sech has been one of the Latin industry’s most reliable hitmakers. His smooth, syrupy voice has made him a streaming titan and a go-to collaborator for artists like Bad Bunny, Nicky Jam, and more.

Darell Breaks Down the Surprises and Smash Collabs from His New Album ‘Everybody Go to the Discotek’
With his baritone tenor and cheeky lyrics, Darell has become one of the most recognizable figures in the Latin urban landscape. His ad-libs are some of the catchiest — not since Alexis & Fido have grunts and barks becoming such a major part of an artist’s brand. He’s go-to when it comes to the genre’s hottest remixes, appearing on everything from the megahit “Te Boté” to the recent smash “Baby Schai (Remix).” All of it has solidified him as a dependable fan favorite.

What must the inside of Tainy’s head be like?
In there, past the archive of memories — all the awards and reggaeton hits since he began producing as a precocious 14-year-old kid in Puerto Rico — it’s easy to picture an infinite library of unlikely influences: a tangle of obscure anime films, cyborg fantasies, old-school hip hop beats, fine arts books, random nights in Tokyo. And then even deeper, where the synapses form, there seems to be a bottomless abyss that Tainy constantly pulls from, turning abstractions into refined experiments that have pushed the genre,...

Boza is letting love guide his music. Following his two prior releases Mas Negro Que Rojo(2020) and Bucle (2022), the rising Panamanian reggaeton star — whose real name is Humberto Ceballos — Boza poured his energy into a collection of love songs dotted with real-life vignettes and vital lessons, coming up with an emotional new LP called Sin Sol.
“When it comes to music about love, that comes from personal experience and one can say it’s an experience I am still living,” Boza tells Rolling Stone, calling from Panama, where he’s still based.

Even from across the sea of pixels that comprise our zoom call, Jay Wheeler's energy is infectious. He's just spent the majority of the day in a press junket, and I am one of his last calls. But if the 29-year-old artist would rather be doing something else, it doesn't show. When Wheeler enters the room, he is in high spirits, playfully joking around with his team before sitting down in a director's chair flanked by art from his latest EP, "Emociones 1.5." Two things immediately become crystal clear: First, that Wheeler is set to make 2023 his biggest year yet. And second, that despite his talent and tremendous success, the Puerto Rican artist remains as humble and genuine as they come.
Born José Ángel López Martínez, Wheeler's humility is a product of humble beginnings, namely a childhood spent in the small town of Salinas in southern Puerto Rico, a place...

Colombian singer-songwriter Feid and Puerto Rican crooner Justin Quiles made R&b-reggaeton magic in their 2019 track, “Porfa.” Produced by Feid’s fellow parcero, Sky Rompiendo, the song is a highlight from his latest album, Ferxxo Vol 1: M.O.R.
After receiving much fanfare across Latin America, including a Number One spot on the Colombian pop chart, Feid assembled mighty team of Latin dynamos to give “Porfa” — the bite-sized word for “please” in Spanish — an extra jolt of star power. In “Porfa (Remix),” Feid and Quiles get a boost from hitmakers Maluma,...

On their 2019 single, “Sigues Con Él,” Dominican-American Mc Arcángel and Panamanian singer Sech plead with a woman to ditch her loser boyfriend. Yet on a brand new remix, bachata superstar Romeo Santos crashes their pity party and offers his own perspective.
Initially featured on Arcángel’s 2019 studio album, Historias de un Capricornio (Tales of a Capricorn), the new song is a glossy reggaeton number, garnished with delicate touches of harp and tropical percussion. “¿Por qué sigues con él?,” or “Why do you stay with him?” ask Arcángel and Sech. “When you were drunk,...

In the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic sweeping the planet, Latin music’s biggest names, from Juanes to Alejandro Sanz, have urged their fans to stay home. But Puerto Rican Mc Darell said it best when he tweeted on Tuesday: “Nobody Go To The Discotek. Everybody Go Home.”
Now, with U.S. cities ramping up restrictions on public events, Panamanian urbano singer Sech had no choice but to cancel the remainder of his Sueños tour. In lieu of touring the West Coast as planned, he will stream an acoustic set...

During the last two years, Bad Bunny has left no box unchecked en route to attaining global superstardom. His 2018 debut X 100pre (which featured assists from a small handful of co-stars including Diplo, El Alfa and Drake) was a crossover experiment that saw El Conejo level up from newcomer to pop titan. Since then, the 25-year-old Latin trap artist has graced Coachella’s main stage, collaborated with J Balvin on the joint LP Oasis, worked with pals Residente and Ricky Martin to help oust the Governor of Puerto Rico, received three Grammy nominations,...

Maidel “La Sista” Canales vividly recalls the “reggaeton fever” of the Nineties. At 16, Canales and her brother, four years her senior, formed the rap duo “Los Brothers,” performing in the streets of Loíza, Puerto Rico, during cultural festivals. “Everyone in Loíza wanted to be a reggaetonero,” says Canales, now 36.
Canales recalls the ubiquitous presence of black reggaeton artists during the genre’s early years. But today, the most recognizable faces of reggaeton and música urbana continue to lighten. Take one look at who occupies today’s Latin music charts, and...

Reggaeton titan Daddy Yankee and Panamanian crooner Sech make a slow jam fit for the Tropics with their new single, “Definitivamente,” or, “Definitely.”
Underlined by a somber piano line, “Definitivamente” is pure reggaeton-and-blues — produced by hitmakers NeKxum and Ovy on the Drums, and mixed by Luny (of Luny Tunes fame). Together, Yankee and Sech belt out bitter lines to their exes, hoping to be wiped from their memories completely.
“Let’s read the last chapter and come to the end,” Yankee sings. “Lo que pasó, pasó,” adds Sech — “What happened,...

When you’re already the biggest artist on the pop-adjacent edge of música urbana, the next logical place to look next is up. As such, for his third album Nibiru, Ozuna aims for the stars with a loosely sci-fi derived concept guiding his skywards path. Considering how vital and commercially successful his Odisea debut and its robust follow-up Aura proved, the ambition towards narrative worldbuilding makes a great deal of sense.
Yet after the project’s initial announcement and subsequent months of release date silence, the phrase “Nibiru: Coming Soon...

Puerto Rican-Dominican superstar Ozuna dropped his long-awaited third album, Nibiru, on Thursday night. The urbano singer then rang in his new LP on Friday with two high-concept videos for “Fantasía” and “Nibiru.”
Directed by the inventive Colin Tilley, the visual narrative of Nibiru begins on a once-bustling planet, now ravaged by a violent dust storm. After having survived the apocalypse, Ozuna seems to have found refuge in an upscale bomb shelter; but his wife suffers a mysterious ailment, which has caused her to disintegrate into space dust. Out of desperation,...

Spanish art-pop star Rosalía and Puerto Rican heartthrob Ozuna made their first-ever appearances at the MTV Video Music Awards Monday night. The duo dropped a surprise new reggaeton song earlier this month titled “Yo X Ti, Tu X Mi” and performed it live at New Jersey’s Prudential Center.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a genuine Rosalía performance without a touch of melodrama. Ensconced in black satin, mesh and rhinestones, the singer-songwriter opened with “A Ningún Hombre,” the flamenco noir closing track off her 2018 breakthrough LP, El Mal Querer.

In the wake of two widely-publicized mass shootings last weekend — first in El Paso, Texas, then in Dayton, Ohio — urbano hitmakers Bad Bunny and J Balvin will use their pop star powers for good.

At first listen, Panamanian singer Sech might be easily mistaken for a long lost Latino member of Boyz II Men. (And had he been alive in 1991, he surely would have finessed the band’s Spanish-language hit, “Al Final de Camino.”) As part of a new generation of Latin pop stars the 25-year-old is rapidly becoming urbano’s most wanted collaborator; between his striking feature in Maluma’s 11:11 to his standout work in Brytiago and Rafa Pabon’s “La Mentira,” Sech’s soulful tenor makes a lasting impression.

It’s a simple fact: nobody does summertime like Latinxs do. And with pop artists across Spain and Latin America steadily rivaling their anglophone counterparts, the competition has made this summer that much hotter. Will the New Latino Gang claim another Number One hit this year? Will Ozuna, Bad Bunny and J Balvin finally unleash their respective, highly-anticipated new albums? And will they be able to top the six-month winning streak of Daddy Yankee and Snow’s monster hit, “Con Calma“? Here are Rolling Stone‘s top 10 Latin songs of the summer — ¡pa que sepa!
