George Rrurrambu, also known as George Djilangya, was an indigenous singer and songwriter, most famously known as the lead singer of the Warumpi Band.
In some indigenous Australian cultures, the dead are treated with a respect different to that of Western cultures. Indigenous Australians avoid seeing photos of deceased relatives and friends. The names of the dead are sometimes changed so they can be spoken of. After his death in 2007, George Rrurrambu became known as 'George Burarrwanga'. In a 2015 compilation of the Warumpi Band's recordings, he is referred to as George Rrurrambu Burarrwanga.
