Next January, Sam Wilson takes to the skies once again in a brand-new limited series: Sam Wilson: Captain America.
Co-written by Greg Pak (Star Wars: Darth Vader) and Evan Narcisse (Wakanda) and illustrated by artist Eder Messias (Phases of the Moon Knight), the series will put Sam to the test - and take him to his limit - in an all-new high-flying Cap adventure.
Clearly taking inspiration from Captain America: Brave New World, the comic will put Sam on a collision course with the Red Hulk after the Winged Avenger uncovers a nefarious plot parading itself as a new tech venture. As both a social worker and a super hero, Sam will reckon with his legacy as Captain America in what's described as a "super spy thriller."
Talking to Marvel.com, Pak said, "Working with Evan on this book has been an absolute dream. We've spent hours sharing big ideas, finishing each other's thoughts,...

Anyone can be Spider-Man. At least, that was the idea when Miles Morales first hit the scene in 2011 as the successor to the Ultimate universe’s Peter Parker. An Afro-Latino teenager taking up the mantle of Marvel’s most beloved and well-known hero, even if it was in an alternate universe, was a game-changer. The possibilities for the character, the topics that could be tackled, and the creators who could put their stamp on the character seemed endless. We’ve seen some of those possibilities reflected through the Oscar-winning animated film, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and a stellar PlayStation game, Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Anyone can be Spider-Man. But the recent blowback from the comic issue What If…Miles Morales Became Thor? begs another question: can anyone write Spider-Man?
If you’re Black, the answer to that has been a rather telling “no.

For the upcoming second season of gen:lock -- a mecha-inspired anime series produced by Rooster Teeth and Michael B. Jordan’s production studio, Outlier Society -- the show has made a commitment to increase representation and inclusion in the writers room.
gen:lock, which is executive produced by and stars Jordan, will follow recommendations based on the actor's own #ChangeHollywood initiative, which he established with civil rights nonprofit Color Of Change to put forth concrete, measurable solutions for Hollywood to affirm, defend, and invest in Black lives..
Accordingly, Rooster Teeth notes that season two writers will include head writer Daniel Dominguez, as well as Maasai Singleton, Evan Narcisse, Kristle Peluso, and Gavin Hignight -- with representation extending across the Black, Latinx and Lgbtqia+ communities. The second season of gen:lock is slated to premiere on HBO Max, though a release date has not been announced.

The Michael B. Jordan-starring animated series “Gen:Lock” has increased representation and inclusion in its writers room for the show’s upcoming second season, producers Rooster Teeth and Outlier Society have announced.
Daniel Dominguez, Maasai Singleton, Evan Narcisse, Kristle Peluso and Gavin Hignight make up the writers room for the second season of the series, which will premiere on HBO Max. The animated series takes place 50 years in the future amid an oppressive authoritarian regime that threatens to conquer the world; Jordan voices the series’ lead character Julian Chase and also serves as an executive producer.
“When I was a teenager I fell in love with anime because my imagination was always strange and hyperbolic, the way cartoons are,” said Dominguez, who serves as head writer on the new season, said in a statement. “I could not be more honored, and excited to have been given this opportunity to work...

Richard Plepler has hopped on the podcast train. The former HBO chief executive has invested in Luminary Media, a podcast-subscription service, and taken a seat on its board.
Plepler acquired a minority stake in Luminary, according to sources, although they could not confirm the amount of the investment. The New York-based company has raised over $100 million to date from backers including New Enterprise Associates and Sinai Ventures.
Plepler exited as chairman and CEO of HBO in February 2019 after a 28-year run with the premium programmer. Earlier this month, he announced the formation of Eden Productions, a film and TV production company that inked a five-year exclusive deal with Apple TV Plus.
Luminary’s model is similar to HBO: Luminary charges $4.99 per month for U.S. subscribers to access dozens of original shows without any advertising. The company has original shows from Trevor Noah, Lena Dunham, Leon Neyfakh, Russell Brand, Michael Rapaport and others,...
