ESPN and Marvel, two of Disney’s most high-profile divisions, are teaming to produce an alternative telecast of a May 3 NBA game.
The flagship ESPN network will air the regular telecast of the Golden State Warriors-New Orleans Pelicans matchup. ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and streaming service ESPN+ will carry the Marvel-ized version.
Synergy has long existed between the NBA and Disney, a longtime rights holder. The media company last year created a “bubble” site at its ESPN Wide World of Sports complex near Orlando, Fl. The facility allowed the NBA to complete its pandemic-interrupted 2019-20 season.

What in the ink? Chris Evans caused a bit of chaos during his virtual interview with Ace Universe's Angélique Roché alongside his brother Scott Evans on Tuesday, March 23. While fans were delighted with the brothers' chat, it was the Captain America: The Winter Soldier star's tattoos peeking out from the top of his tank top that really caught social media's attention. The actor has two tattoos next to each other on his chest: one is an eagle—very fitting for Captain America—and the other is a quote from Eckhart Tolle which reads, "When you lose touch with inner stillness, you lose touch with yourself. When you lose touch with yourself, you lose yourself in the...

‘Marvel’s 616’ at Comic-Con: Disney Plus Docuseries Highlights Unsung Women, Wacky Marvel Characters
Usually a massive presence at San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Entertainment is largely sitting out this year’s virtual iteration of the 50-year-old fan convention, Comic-Con@Home. That is, save for a panel on “Marvel’s 616,” a Disney Plus docuseries that covers the history of Marvel Comics through the lens of a series of individual filmmakers.
Actors Gillian Jacobs (“Community”) and Paul Scheer (“Black Monday”) joined the panel to share their experiences directing episodes for the series, the first time either had made a documentary film. Jacobs and Scheer joined executive producer Sarah Amos (also vice president of development and production for new media at Marvel) and executive producer Jason Sterman (whose production company Supper Club made the series) to talk with moderator Angélique Roché about their differing approaches to their episodes.
Sterman explained that “Marvel’s 616” was designed to feel as tonally and thematically disparate as the vast universe of Marvel Comics,...
