Epic war-time survival tale “The Guns of Muschu” has already assembled a weighty cast ahead of a production start in the first quarter of 2025.
The film is an adaptation of the non-fiction book “The Guns of Muschu,” written by Don Dennis, with an adapted screenplay by Tom Broadhurst and Jack Brislee (“Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan”). The narrative brings to life a pivotal chapter of Australian war history with gritty authenticity, recounting the high body count Operation Copper, a mission during WWII when Australian and New Zealand troops were sent into the jungles of Papua New Guinea.
The objective of the mission was to investigate the Japanese defenses on Muschu Island, capture a Japanese officer for interrogation and discover the location of two naval guns on the island that were protecting a harbor. Eight commandos were landed as part of the operation, but only one survived.

Chess is ruthless: you’ve got to be prepared to kill people – Nigel Short
That quote opens the new Aussie thriller Kane, the camera focusing on Abe playing a game. In voiceover Abe’s driver, Benny tells us a few things. Abe is an old-school gangster, all about loyalty and honour. He also has dissociative identity disorder more commonly known as multiple personalities, and as he’ll mention shortly, he’s off his meds. He also tells us that Abe’s opponent is Frankie, a former member of his outfit who is now his rival for control of the city’s underworld. A rivalry that has turned bloody

"Something happened, and he came back as a different person." Saban Films has revealed an official trailer for a crime thriller titled Kane from Australia, opening in the US soon this fall. Haven't heard much about this one, yet another mediocre crime thriller getting thrown into the "content" pile this year. Benny works for old school crime boss Abe, though Abe has multiple personalities and is in a gang war with the notorious Frankie. Kane is the deadliest of Abe's personalities, and the next 24 hours will be a killer. Today is a good day to die. "Kane is a gripping dark thriller that explores the blurred lines of loyalty and identity." The split personalities twist in this is so uninteresting, doesn't seem they know what to do with it. Kane stars Jeremy Lindsay Taylor, Jake Ryan, Clayton Watson, Nathan Phillips, Tammin Sursok, Holly Brisley, and Peter O'Hanlon as Big Stan.

"What makes you think we'd ever let you go?" Damn! Madman Films in Australia has unveiled their official trailer for The Cost, a riveting crime thriller from filmmaker Matthew Holmes. This premiered at the 2022 MonsterFest in Australia last year, but hasn't shown many other places yet. Intent on dispensing their own brutal form of justice, two ordinary men abduct a felon who committed a horrific crime many years before. This vigilante justice story set over 48 hours is an intense look at just how far some will go to get back at evil people. Once you watch this trailer, the title of "The Cost" will make much more sense. There definitely is a cost... This stars Jordan Fraser-Trumble, Damon Hunter, Kevin Dee, Clayton Watson, Nicole Pastor, Nadia Fragnito, and Mark Redpath. Looks like it could be disturbingly good. There's still no US release set yet, have to keep an eye out for more updates.

A voicemail message opens director Matthew Holmes’ film The Cost, as Stephanie (Nicole Pastor) leaves a message for her husband apologising for an argument while asking to be picked up from the station. As the recording conveys her sincerity in making up, that hope is drained due to the following sight of Stephanie’s lifeless body. The story then flashes to the present day, as David (Jordan Fraser-Trumble) and Aaron (Damon Hunter) prepare themselves for the coming weekend. Their loved ones are told the pair are going on a camping trip, although the packed items hint at more sinister plans.
A sense of foreboding is effectively set, as The Cost also shows Troy (Kevin Dee) drowning his sorrows, unaware of what is coming. Abducted and taken to a private property,...

Mark looks back at the much-reviled Matrix sequels and asks: what went wrong?

This article contains spoilers for the Matrix trilogy.
It seem like a long time ago to some of our younger readers, but those who were there will remember that 2003 was branded “the year of the Matrix” by Warner Bros. Four years after the first film knocked everybody's socks off, Andy and Lana Wachowski made two sequels, an animated anthology, a video game and numerous other tie-ins to expand upon a world that was only hinted at in the original.
The Matrix Reloaded became the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time when it was released in May and held that record until the following Easter's The Passion Of The Christ. A vitriolic critical reception and bad word of mouth undercut any chance that the final instalment, The Matrix Revolutions, had in terms of topping its predecessor when...

Philippe Mora is planning a film that honours Sir John Monash, the Australian General who led the Allied forces which smashed through the German lines in the Battle of Amiens on August 8 1918.
.My opinion is that the Australian contribution to winning WW1 is under-appreciated internationally and this will be reflected in this new film,. said Mora, the French-born, Los Angeles-based filmmaker who grew up in Australia.
.My mother Mirka and my father Georges knew Monash's famous friend Lizzie Bentwich, who befriended them in 1951 as young immigrants from Paris. My dad drove her around in his van with an armchair in it for her..
Mora hasn.t cast the lead role yet but said he.ll look for an actor who would become as synonymous with the General as was Peter O'Toole as Lawrence of Arabia. The victory prompted German General Ludendorff to concede, .August 8th was the black day of...

Shooting this fall in Providence, Rhode Island, The Ten O'clock People is an independent film adaptation of Stephen King’s short story of the same name. The film, a chilling cross between horror and film noir, will offer a 21st century twist to classics like Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
Written and directed by E.J. Meyers and starring Jose Gonsalves, Clayton Watson, and Tonia Passow, The Ten O'clock People tells the story of ex-smoker Brandon Pearson (Watson), who thinks he’s finally kicked the habit when he discovers smoking cessation drug Zytex. But when Brandon succumbs to his cravings and tosses the drug, he uncovers a frightening world full of perilous creatures few but he can see.
King's "The Ten O'clock People" short story was published in 1993 as part of his Nightmares and Dreamscapes collection and is notable for being set in Boston, Massachusetts, instead of King's typical Maine locale.

Anticipation couldn't be higher, so much to the point there was no way the film could live up to it. Well, that didn't work out too well because as we are getting our first glimpse of the underground human stronghold Zion and learning the machines are digging their way through the Earth and should be there soon enough kill the humans in about 72 hours, give or take.
