- Dennis Przywara is an award winning filmmaker, producer, and editor for film and television.
Raised in suburban Michigan, Przywara got his passion for film-making early by working voraciously as an usher/projectionist at the local multiplex while earning his Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television at Wayne State University in Detroit in the mid 1990's.
Upon graduating, Przywara moved to Los Angeles, working for such numerous film companies as Dick Clark Productions and Silver Pictures as a story analyst until landing a staff position at Ridley Scott & Associates, a commercial/music video division of the Scott family. He ambitiously started learning the trade and became an editor and post producer, cutting award winning commercials and music videos for the company.
Przywara soon went on to directing his first documentary feature, "Starwoids," a stranger than fiction film about Star Wars fans and their six week line waiting quest to see "The Phantom Menace" at the world famous Chinese Theater. "Starwoids" premiered at The NoDance Film Festival winning top honors for best documentary and has been seen in over sixty film festivals around the world. "Starwoids" is streaming on Amazon Prime and other pay services.
He continued his career as a producer/editor, working on content for studios such as Warner Brothers, PBS, Universal, Sony, and Disney. Also during this time, Przywara helped edit/co-produce the Mark Woollen directed feature documentary "Jam," about a group of ragtag veteran roller derby stars that are determined to make a comeback. "Jam" went on to win the grand jury prize at The SXSW Film Festival for best documentary and was released on DVD/Blu-ray including The Sundance Channel. After completion of the documentary, he went on to create multiple behind the scenes and short form documentary content for shows such as "Say Yes to the Dress," "The Sundance Film Festival," "Game of Thrones" and "Sesame Street." He also returned to the commercial spectrum, editing ads for such companies as Chrysler, McDonald's, Nike and Jeep. During this period, he helped produce Andrew James' award winning feature documentary "Street Fighting Men," which celebrates dogged persistence of three African-American men fighting for a future within the urban sprawl of Detroit. "Street Fighting Men" is streaming on Amazon Prime.
Przywara then headed into the political spectrum in 2019/2020 to edit, produce, and direct content for presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg.
