- Singer/songwriter; wrote the #1 hit for Dion DiMucci in 1961, "Runaround Sue" and had his own top-five hit in the early '60s with "Shout Shout (Knock Yourself Out).".
- Was an original member of the 1950s doo-wop group The Regents, who did the classic "Barbara Ann", which hit #1 on the pop charts in 1961. Their follow-up song, "Runaround", hit #28 the same year.
