While technically a CMA Fest event, the Cadillac Three delivered a gritty and often improvised alternative to the highly produced TV taping going on across the river at Nissan Stadium on Friday night. During their concise, stout headlining set at Ascend Amphitheater — dubbed “The Cadillac Three & Friends” — the Nashville trio incorporated a horn section, added Charlie Worsham as second guitarist, and leaned into the “& Friends” part of the billing by performing a pair of songs with Little Big Town and Elvie Shane.

Shania Twain’s career has been truly remarkable, and she’s among the most popular and best-selling country music stars ever. Known for her famous hits, such as “You’re Still The One,” “From This Moment On,” and “Whose Bed Has Your Boots Been Under,” the singer rose to fame in the late ’90s and has earned herself legendary titles such as the “Queen of Country Pop.”
While it’s hard imagining Twain doing anything other than singing, the 57-year-old country star revealed that she would’ve chosen a different career path if she hadn’t embraced her singing talent. In fact, the celebrated singer would be a songwriter in an alternate universe.

Grammy Award-winning country music artiste Shania Twain released her new album, “Queen of Me” on Friday. The record is a limitless expression of pop that allows it to sit comfortably next to her many chart successors, enshrining it as an upbeat, playful, and joyous album.
The album is sonically inspired by ’70s and ’80s funk and rock – just like the sounds she grew up with and considered her heroes. It’s a departure from the past and a strident step into an ever-improving future.
The album consists of 12 new tracks. In the stand-out friendship anthem “Best Friend’, Shania affectionately gushes over her closest confidant as she emphasises “you always take the blame and you know I’d do the same for you. No matter what, yeah I got you, and I know that you got me.”
The LP represents a deep and dynamic creative statement from this iconic voice – from the energetic opener “Giddy Up!

Parker McCollum and Lainey Wilson were named as, respectively, best new male artist and best new female artist in early honors announced by the Academy of Country Music in advance of Monday’s live ceremony from Las Vegas on Prime Video.
The Academy posted videos of both artists getting the news from country superstar Miranda Lambert. Wilson still has a shot at winning something next week, as well: She’s up for song of the year for her No. 1 country hit “Things a Man Oughta Know.” McCollum has also earned a No. 1 song of his own, “Pretty Heart,” although the 2020 hit preceded the eligibility period for this year’s awards.
Both artists will get a performance slot on the show, which is foregoing a network broadcast component and will stream exclusively from Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium at 8 p.m. Et/5 Pt.

This has been an exciting year for country music. From the returns of acclaimed singer-songwriters like Chris Stapleton and Kacey Musgraves to some massive chart successes for acts like Gabby Barrett, Walker Hayes, Luke Combs, and Morgan Wallen, it’s safe to say the genre is having a resurgence. With that in mind, the competition for even a nomination at the Grammys is tightening up, so let’s take a look at the likeliest contenders.
The biggest country players this year will likely be Musgraves and Stapleton. Both artists have previously swept the country field for their respective albums “Golden Hour” and “Traveller,” and both might go head-to-head this year with their current releases “Star-Crossed” and “Starting Over” — Musgraves could be slotted in pop, though, since “Star-Crossed” is more pop-leaning than her previous work. In Stapleton’s case, he’s likely to get performance and/or songwriting noms for one...

The ACM Awards for New Male Artist of the Year and New Female Artist of the Year are quite hit-and-miss when it comes to anointing future hit-makers. While the awards have gone to country superstars like Maren Morris, Chris Stapleton, and Vince Gill, other winners have turned out not to be as influential in the long run, which makes predicting the winners a little harder than just choosing the highest-profile artist of the bunch.
Take last year, for example. Female nominees included eventual three-time Grammy nominee Ingrid Andress, crossover hit singer Gabby Barrett, and Caylee Hammack — all three of whom are nominated again this year — as well as Lindsay Ell. But the award ended up going to newcomer Tenille Townes, the only nominee besides Hammack with no Hot 100 charting songs.

Elle King has moved on from a bad relationship, but her ex won’t let it go in her emotive performance video for new single, “Another You.”
Cowritten by King, Sam Fischer and John Hume, “Another You” discusses heartbreak and second chances at new love. In the intimate performance clip, King sings directly into the camera as she details actions from a former lover who made “a bad decision,” which led to their demise. Yet, after their relationship has ended, the pursuit continues. However, she’s done with the game.

Despite a shuffling performer line-up due to multiple positive tests for Covid-19, the Country Music Association Awards were held on Wednesday at an in-person ceremony at Nashville’s Music City Center.
In the days leading up to the ceremony, four acts — Rascal Flatts, the recently renamed Lady A, Florida Georgia Line and “I Hope You’re Happy Now” singer Lee Brice — were forced to pull out from the show after either being exposed to or testing positive for Covid.
