What was the worst day of your childhood? For most it's the day a favorite pet died or a parent passes. For the lucky view it's just a birthday that didn't bring that much coveted gift. For Claire Thompson (Meghan Ory, 'Vampire High'), it was the day she found several children murdered in a local foster home. Flash forward 14 years and Claire is in college studying acting. Her mind is as messed up as they come. Therapy, medication and night terrors are everyday events for this unfortunate young woman. Her therapist suggests she go back to the house to try and jog her...

Dark House DVD ArtDirector: Darin Scott.
Writers: Darin Scott, and Kerry Douglas Dye.
Dark House is a film from writer and director Darin Scott (Tale from the Hood), which completed in 2009 and was not released until July 30th of this year, theatrically. This film beat out seven others to be presented by both Lightning Entertainment and Fangoria for a nationwide released, which included three cities. The film offers a twist on the usual haunted house theme from horror films and actress Meghan Ory displays an alright performance as central character Claire Thompson, who has been traumatized after becoming a witness to a child murder massacre. Her attempt to desensitize her fear at the Darrode family home, where the slaughter took place, is outmatched by the director's ability to show an interesting visual sphere. A performance from Jeffrey Combs is especially well done.

Dark House Movie StillDark House, from director Darrin Scott, has been chosen by fans to receive a theatrical showing later this month. This film beat out seven other films in an online contest supported by Fangoria magazine. Now, Dark House will be shown in at least three cities including: New York, Dallas, and San Francisco. The film will premiere July 30th and continue until August 5th. The film itself is a haunted house styled film, where a group of actors become trapped within the confines of a possessed attraction. The film is laden with effects and Dark House will surely stop some hearts with the tale of a "children's massacre" (Fangoria). Have a look at all the premiere locations inside, along with the film's trailer.

The votes are in, and we couldn't be happier to report that Darin Scott's Dark House is the winner of the Fangoria FrightFest film competition and will receive a theatrical release!
Directed by writer/producer Scott, Dark House (review here) is a high-tech take on the traditional “haunted house,” featuring a charismatically maniacal performance by horror legend Jeffrey Combs. His co-stars are Meghan Ory, Danso Gordon, Bevin Prince, Shelly Cole, Matt Cohen, Scott Whyte, Ryan Melander, Meghan Maureen McDonough, and Scotty Noyd, Jr.
The Fangoria FrightFest was born out of a partnership with Lightning Media to distribute independent horror films via DVD, Video on Demand and Digital Download. Along with Dark House the other entrants included Pig Hunt, Fragile, Grimm Love, Hunger, Road Kill, The Haunting and The Tomb.

Dark House -- part of the Fangoria Frightfest label -- reminded me of Waxwork starring that guy from Gremlins. Meghan Ory stars as Claire Thompson, an actress who takes a job at Walston Rey's (Jeffrey Combs) newest haunted house attraction, Dark House! Filled with top of the line technology, the mainframe is possessed by an evil spirit making the hologram hooligans come to life. The best part of Dark House -- and why it reminded me of Waxwork -- is its colorful killers, my favorite is the gaysexual killer clown (see below). The flick also features One Tree Hill hottie Bevin Prince, who is also starring in the upcoming horror thriller Wreckage.

We haven't seen much of Kellie Martin in the last few years -- a couple of Lifetime movies, some guest shots, and that's about it -- but it's been for a good reason: she took the time off to figure out how to be a parent.
After her daughter Maggie was born three-and-a-half years ago, Martin told me last week, "I didn't want to get overwhelmed with having to feel like I had to work and not have this time with her." She read every parenting book she could find, but parenting was still a mystery to her. "I had no idea what to do with a kid, I mean I was clueless, so I needed some time to figure this out."
This week, audiences will see Martin twice: Fans of Lifetime's 'Drop Dead Diva' will see Martin guest star on July 11 as...

The first trailer for Dark House, starring Re-animator's Jeffrey Combs, has arrived. The clip recently made its debut at our Los Angeles Weekend of Horrors, at a panel which included writer/director Darin Scott (Tales From The Hood) and his cast, including Combs, Rest Stop’s Diane Salinger, Boogeyman 2’s Matt Cohen, Megan Ory, One Tree Hill’s Bevin Prince, Dollhouse’s Erin Cummings and Reeker’s Scott Whyte.
See the trailer below the cut.
Dark House’s storyline follows the traumatized Claire Thompson (Ory), who tries to come to terms with her demons by revisiting the old house where a terrible children’s massacre took place. The hitch? The place is now being used as a haunted-house attraction set up by Walston Rey (Combs). When the place, formerly run by the evil Miss Darrode (Salinger), is set to open for the press, Walston recruits Claire and a...

I ignored news of this like most horror films thinking that the rundown wasn't too intriguing, but that all changed today when a batch of 3 stills dropped and blew my mind. "Traumatized by an terrifying event in her youth, Claire Thompson tries to exorcise her demons by revisiting the old house where a terrible children's massacre took place. Now a haunted house attraction set up by impressario Walston Rey, the former foster home run by the evil Miss Darrode is set to open for the press and Walston recruits Claire and several of her fellow acting class students to perform as part of the show. Unfortunately, a series of horrible murders happen at the haunted house, generating from either the malevolent spirit of the departed Miss Darrode, or by Claire herself..." This is skedded for sometime in 2009 and there's not much else on it yet. Check em after the break!
