Florian Hoffmann, whose documentary Arlette - Courage Is a Muscle was part of Idfa’s Competition for Student Documentary and the Idfa Doc U Competition in 2015, is currently readying his next film, Stille Post. A graduate of the German Film and Television Academy Berlin (Dffb), Hoffman is now preparing a drama that centres on Khalil, a Berlin school teacher who comes across war footage from his Kurdish hometown of Cizre. As he joins a community of video activists fighting to draw international attention to the issue and hopes to reconnect with his sister, a camera operator in the combat zone, Khalil begins to question his values and wonder whether he should abandon his life in Berlin.
