James Cameron is often considered as someone who would go beyond his way to ensure he gets his demands fulfilled. Take for example, when the filmmaker had to send out empty threats of making an Ellen Ripley-free version of Aliens, after Sigourney Weaver wasn’t approached by her agent with the offer of returning for a sequel.

According to GQ, James Cameron had spent months writing the sequel story for 1979’s Alien after he was assured by 20th Century Fox that Sigourney Weaver was tied in for a follow-up. However, after writing the script, as he was informed that the actress wasn’t even approached with the offer for a sequel, Cameron decided to fast-forward the process and get what he wanted, by bluffing.

Cameron and Weaver already collaborated for a sci-fi feature years before Avatar. Cameron directed the sequel to Ridley Scott’s Alien, with Weaver once again battling extraterrestrial invaders in deep space. In an interview with Vulture, Weaver briefly recalled having a pleasant experience with Cameron on set. Which might’ve been a bit surprising given the director’s notorious temper in the past.
“Well, he was always so sweet to me during Aliens,” Weaver said. “And that was a tough picture for him, because the crew had this big Ridley Scott obsession, and it took him a while to get their attention as a filmmaker. But...

In one fell swoop, Fox has ordered most of its pilot slate this development cycle.
The network has greenlighted four comedy pilots, "The Station," "Walorsky," "Two Dollar Beer" and "Sons of Tucson"; and three dramas, "Maggie Hill," "Human Target" and an untitled reincarnation-themed project.
The seven pilots -- hailing from 20th TV or Warner Bros. TV -- join drama pilot "Eva Adams," which is finishing casting, and fall comedy pilot "Boldly Going Nowhere," which is being tweaked and will be reshot.
Fox entertainment president Kevin Reilly said last week that he planned to order five comedy pilots and at least five drama pilots and that his comedy picks would be closer in tone to the quirky, offbeat "Malcolm in the Middle" and "The Bernie Mac Show" than uninspired recent additions like "Do Not Disturb."

Columbia Pictures is planning a remake of Blake Edwards' 1962 thriller Experiment in Terror. Screenwriter Robert Pucci has been hired to pen the script for producers Lou Pitt and Matt Baer, with Edwards serving as executive producer. The original Experiment, directed by Edwards and starring Lee Remick, Glenn Ford and Stefanie Powers, was set in San Francisco and based on the novel Operation Terror by Gordon Gordon and Mildred Gordon, who adapted it for the screen. It told the story of a woman (Remick) who is terrorized by a criminal using her to help him steal money from the bank where she works, threatening to kill her teenage sister (Powers) if she doesn't comply. She enlists the aid of an FBI agent (Ford) to thwart the criminal.
