While Drive to Survive has sped to a successful six seasons on the Netflix platform and been given credit for a surge in interest in motor racing, particular in the US, the same production team has stumbled to a halt with the tennis world, and now The Times of London reports that documentary series Break Point has been cancelled after just two seasons, citing poor ratings and lack of access to the sport’s leading figures.
Everything looked hopeful when the series was first announced by Netflix in January 2022, hot on the heels of the ratings blockbuster Drive to Survive. With his debut feature Last Swim, an ambitious and quietly radical portrait of young life in London, Sasha Nathwani has achieved one of the most difficult tasks for a new filmmaker: cutting through with a festival audience.
Last Swim debuted last week at the Berlin Film Festival, where it opened the festival’s Generation sidebar. The pic has been one of the more buzzy titles here on the ground in the German capital and is considered a frontrunner to pick up some gold when awards are announced this weekend.

Despite the celebratory atmosphere, Ziba struggles to retain her characteristic optimism as she finds herself battling the fears and secrets she’s been hiding from her friends. This marks the second year in a row the comedian and best-selling author will anchor the show, which she describes as “really fun.” In fact, that lighthearted atmosphere is part of what’s bringing her back. “People are drinking, it’s a relaxed vibe. Theatergoers who attended “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” the concert film that has already amassed $231 million worldwide, were treated to a special trailer for “The Marvels,” the upcoming Marvel Studios superhero extravaganza — cut specifically for the “Eras Tour” audience.
They also probably walked by a poster for “The Marvels” — with stars Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani proudly beaming — since theaters were encouraged to place marketing materials for the movie in front of auditoriums playing “The Eras Tour.”
It was all part of a coordinated effort by Disney to further fuel the female-led moviegoing momentum that started with the summer blockbuster “Barbie” and continued with “Eras” last month. But leaping onto that same speeding train may be an insurmountable goal, even for Captain Marvel.

As “The Daily Show” continues its search for a full-time host to replace Trevor Noah, Chelsea Handler has just one request: let it be a woman.
During her appearance “The Tonight Show” on Wednesday night, host Jimmy Fallon fawned over Handler’s stint as guest host back in February, asking her “when are they making the move? When is Chelsea Handler takin’ over Daily Show?”
Handler has made no secret of the fact that she’s definitely interested in taking the job full time, but wouldn’t give any hints as to where she currently stands in the running. What she would say was that, in the end, she thinks Comedy Central needs to get a woman back into late night.
“Anybody in a position of power should respect the fact that we are in a moment where women are finally dominating the way that they deserve to be,” Handler said.

Amy Schumer posted an apology to Nicole Kidman and fans after she received backlash for joking that the “Aquaman” actress didn’t look like a human in a picture taken of her at a U.S. Open tennis match.
On Friday, Schumer took to Instagram to make it clear to people online that she felt her joke about Kidman was taken out of context.
“Okay so the joke I was making was the way she was posed didn’t seem like how a human sits,” Schumer wrote in a photo post. “I was not making fun of how she looks. Nicole Kidman is beautiful and one of the most incredible actors of all time.”
Schumer’s apology comes after people online called her out for “bullying” Kidman over how she sat during the women’s final between Coco Gauff and Aryana Sabalenka that took place on Sept. 9.

Amy Schumer has deleted an Instagram post after commenters accused her of cyberbullying Nicole Kidman. Both stars attended the U.S. Open final match between Coco Gauff and Aryna Sabalenka this past weekend in New York City; they were two of many celebrities in the star-studded crowd. Schumer posted a photo of Kidman taken by photographers during the match on Instagram to make fun of how she was sitting. In the shot, Kidman was sitting with her legs crossed. She rested her elbow on her leg and her hand under her face as she watched the game. “This how human sit,” Schumer captioned the since-deleted post. Schumer’s caption implied she felt the Moulin Rouge star looked robotic. Instagram users took to the comments section to question why Schumer teased Kidman in the first place. “Are you cyberbullying Oscar and Emmy winner Nicole Kidman right now,” one user wrote. “Bringing...

Kylie Jenner and Timothée Chalamet have done a total 180! They spent the first few months of their rumored relationship keeping things private, it was hard to know if it was fact or fiction, and they're now throwing caution to the wind. That's if their most recent appearance at the US Open is anything to go by.
Jenner and Chalamet were spotted among the many celebrities attending the US Open together on Sept. 10, and they weren't shy about public displays of affection. In photos snapped of the couple at the sporting event, when they weren't snacking on chicken tenders, they were laying on the Pda, putting their arms around each other, taking photos, and kissing.

Maybe the best reaction to 19-year-old Coco Gauff winning her first Grand Slam tournament at the U.S. Open today came from the champ herself.
“Honestly, thank you to the people who didn’t believe in me. A month ago, I won a 500 title and people said I would stop at that,” she said in a TV interview from center court. “I’m here with this trophy right now. I tried my best to carry this with grace and I’ve been doing my best. So honestly, to those who thought [they] were putting water on my fire, you were really adding gas to it. And now I’m really burning so bright right now.”

Coco Gauff won the 2023 U.S. Open women’s singles title this afternoon, defeating Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. The win marks the 19-year-old Gauff’s first Grand Slam championship and she pulled it off with a huge rally after losing the first set . She becomes the 11th teenager to ever win a Grand Slam singles title and the first American teenager to win the U.S Open since Serena Williams won the tournament in 1999.
There’s another similarity. Gauff won 3 matches in the tournament after losing the first set and battled back to eventually become U.S. Open Champion. According to ESPN, the only other woman to do that in the Open era was 17-year old Serena in 1999.
Match point was an exchange of powerful shots followed by great returns, with Gauff finally sliding a backhand by Sabalenka and collapsing to the ground in joy. Watch it below.

Tennis star Coco Gauff is on the verge of making history. The 19-year-old Gauff is the youngest American US Open female finalist since Serena Williams in 1999, and she’ll attempt to win her first Grand Slam when she takes on No. 2 seed Aryna Sabalenka in the women’s singles final. ESPN airs the match from Arthur Ashe Stadium at the Usta Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens, New York, on Saturday, September 9, at 4/3c. Sixth-seeded Gauff reached the final by defeating No. 10 seed Karolina Muchova of the Czech Republic in a match that was delayed by protestors in the arena. Sabalenka advanced to the final after defeating American Madison Keys. Sabalenka has reached three straight US Open semifinals, reached the semis in every Grand Slam this year and won the 2023 Australian Open. She’ll move up world No. 1 following the tournament. Several protesters were arrested Thursday night in the U.S. Open. They delayed the match between Coco Gauff and Karolina Muchova at 8:05 p.m. after shouting about climate change, interrupting the match. The protesters were wearing shirts that read “End Fossil Fuels.”
Three of the four activists were immediately removed from the stadium, while the fourth one glued his bare feet to the ground. The police and medical professionals were called in to remove him from the stadium safely. All four protesters were then taken into custody by the New York Police Department.
Two protesters have already been charged. Sayak Mukhopadhyay, 50, of White Plains, and Gregory Schwdock, 35, of Manhattan, were charged with criminal trespass. Mukhopadhyay was additionally charged with disorderly conduct after gluing his feet to the floor stands.
The protest lasted for almost 50 minutes before play could resume. Gauff won the match to advance to her first U.

ESPN is giving players competing in the U.S. Open tennis tournament access to live-streaming video of the matches, responding to complaints from players who found themselves unable to watch their competition due to the ongoing Disney-Charter Spectrum blackout.
A source confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the company has provided access to a number of players, as well as some on-air talent and others covering the U.S. Open who have been unable to watch matches due to the dispute, thanks to Charter being the dominant cable operator in New York City.
A number of players had publicly complained about the issue, including American star Coco Gauff and the Russian Daniil Medvedev, who complained about the issue in a press conference Monday night.

In addition to disrupting tennis fans’ viewing experience, the ongoing carriage dispute between Disney and Charter Communications, which saw Disney linear networks, including ESPN, go dark on Charter’s Spectrum cable systems last Thursday, is wreaking havoc on players’ preparation for matches at the year’s final Grand Slam.
Superstars Coco Gauff and Daniil Medvedev shared their frustration over not being able to watch tournament matches at their hotel, with the latter admitting that he had to resort to bootlegged online feeds.
Even ESPN’s own John McEnroe, in his return to the commentators’ booth on Labor Day, referenced the fact that he didn’t watch as much coverage of the tournament as he would’ve liked while sidelined with Covid because of the Disney-Charter carriage dispute.

The 2023 US Open - the last tennis Grand Slam of the year - kicked off on Aug. 28 at Billie Jean King Tennis Center in Queens, NY, and those in attendance have been treated to some great matches so far. Some of the celebrities spotted during the first eight days of the tennis tournament include Hailey and Justin Bieber, former President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama, actor Katie Holmes, and singer Maren Morris.
And it's not just fans who like seeing the celebs - it's the players, too. American tennis player Coco Gauff joked after her third-round match (and victory) that seeing Justin and Hailey cheering for her inspired her win. "I definitely saw who was there," Gauff, 19, said after the match on ESPN, per CNN. "I thought, 'I cannot lose in front of Justin Bieber.' I didn't lose a game after I saw that."
Between now and the finals on Sept.

New York, Sep 4 (Ians) Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko maintained her clean sheet against Iga Swiatek, ending the World No.1’s US Open title defense with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 victory in the fourth round.
Swiatek’s loss on Sunday means World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka will overtake the Pole and ascend to the No.1 ranking after the US Open. Swiatek will have held the top spot for 75 consecutive weeks, the third-longest first-time streak in Wta Tour history.
Into her first US Open quarterfinal, Ostapenko will next face No.6 Coco Gauff. The two have split their two prior meetings, with Ostapenko knocking the American out of the Australian Open in January.
After taking the first set handily, a listless Swiatek found herself down 1-4 against Ostapenko. It was a deficit she could not overcome, thanks to Ostapenko’s solid service games, and the No. 20 seed assertively tucked away the set to force a decisive third.
