Carl the Collector, PBS Kids’ newest series about a warm-hearted raccoon, will be its first led by a character on the autism spectrum.
Created by New York Times best-selling illustrator and author Zachariah OHora, the animated TV show will celebrate the diverse ways kids think and express themselves, and help them develop a sense of self and community. The series is geared toward children ages 4 to 8, and will premiere in the fall of 2024.
“My hope for Carl and his diverse group of Fuzzytown friends is that they will inspire neurodiverse and neurotypical kids alike to foster a world in which neurodiversity is not only recognized as a benefit to society, but is celebrated as exemplifying the full spectrum of what it means to be human,” said OHora, the show’s creator and executive producer.

When Fred Rogers Prods. execs decided to revisit the classic “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” character Donkey Hodie in a modern puppet show for preschoolers, they knew just the team with the storytelling and puppeteering chops to bring the project to life: brothers Adam and David Rudman, the team behind Chicago-based Spiffy Pictures.
David Rudman is a Muppeteer who has played Cookie Monster on “Sesame Street” and Scooter, Janice and Beaker on “The Muppet Show,” and Adam Rudman is an Emmy-winning writer, whose credits include “Sesame Street,” “Tom & Jerry” and “Scooby-Doo.” They are co-creators and executive producers of “Donkey Hodie,” which premiered on PBS stations May 3.
The new show centers on the precocious namesake granddaughter of the original character, who appears in the new series as Grampy Hodie. Other reimagined “Mister Rogers” characters also inhabit the magical land of Someplace Else as do new ones. Together, they help young viewers solve...

Classic characters from “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” are being reimagined in the new children’s series “Donkey Hodie” from Fred Rogers Productions and Spiffy Pictures that premieres today, Monday, May 3, on PBS.
The series follows the original puppet’s precocious namesake granddaughter whose big ideas sometimes get the best of her, but, with the help of Grampy and her friends, she learns to keep on trying. Each half-hour episode features two 11-minute stories.
The idea for the show started with the folks at Fred Rogers Productions. “We were looking at a list of character names from ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood’ and Donkey Hodie was so funny, it made us laugh,” chief creative officer Ellen Doherty recalls. “An idea started percolating about a preschool show about a little donkey with big dreams and the idea of perseverance and grit, and how apt that is for preschoolers who are little kids with really big feelings.

Creativity in pro wrestling is a vital prerequisite to making an entertaining product. Take away storylines and it becomes difficult to emotionally invest in two men pretending to fight each other. Ineffective scripting is the biggest problem facing WWE today, it ruins the audience’s ability to suspend disbelief and leads to talented wrestlers being perceived as inferior. There have been various creative and booking errors that have marred WWE in 2013 – mistakes that have badly hurt the business as a whole. Everything has a knock on effect in this industry, bad creative leads to bad matches and poor angles, leading to declines in tv ratings, pay per view buys and merchandise sales. It is vitally important WWE gets creative right, yet all too often they get it badly wrong.
In fairness to Vince McMahon and his creative empire, it must be difficult to produce 5 hours of fresh content each week.

Two weeks from now Sdcc 2013 will be winding down, so are there enough horror offerings to entice attendees back to the show for Day 4 (July 21)? With "Supernatural" kicking things off bright and early, we say, "Yes!"
Also on the schedule for Sunday (traditionally the family-themed day of the event) are "Under the Dome," an update on the adaptation of George R.R. Martin's werewolf/Pi/serial killer mashup novella The Skin Trade, a chance to build your own monster, surviving in a post-apocalyptic world, a Neil Gaiman Spotlight panel, a look at what's coming from Diamond Select Toys, a how-to on creating suspenseful, exciting, anxiety-inducing stories, and per usual, a screening of "Buffy the Musical: Once More with Feeling" to close things out.
Since the horror offerings are so light, we've expanded our Day 4 highlights list to cover such topics as the future of sci-fi novels, the 50th anniversary of "Doctor Who,...
