Kentucky State Rep. Nick Wilson, a former Survivor winner, was forced to change a bill that he wrote that, if passed, would have legalized sex between first cousins in his state.
Wilson, who is a Republican, called his mistake “embarrassing.”
“During the drafting process, there was an inadvertent change, which struck ‘first cousins’ from the list of relationships included under the incest statute, and I failed to add it back in,” Wilson wrote. “During today’s session, I will withdraw Hb 269 and refile a bill with the ‘first cousin’ language intact.”
Wilson believed the bill would add “sexual contact” to the state’s current incest statute.
“Currently, incest only applies in cases of intercourse. So sexual touching/groping by uncles, stepdads, or anyone with a familial relationship is not included in incest,” he said. “My bill makes that kind of sexual contact a Class D Felony, unless the victim is...

Survivor has crowned 41 castaways as the Sole Survivor (with Sandra Diaz-Twine and Tony Vlachos as the show’s only two-time winners) since 2000. While sometimes the jury gets it right and awards the most deserving person with the $1 million, other times fans don’t agree with the winner. And now and then (certainly in Nick Wilson’s case), personal ideologies and opinions influence Survivor fans’ thoughts on a Sole Survivor.

Survivor champ and The Challenge: USA winner Sarah Lacina called out Tony Vlachos for his real job as a police officer, eventually leading to one of the most successful alliances in franchise history, Cops-R-Us. During a recent interview, the Game Changers winner admitted production played a role in helping her discover Tony’s true identity.
Sarah Lacina reveals how producers helped her identify Tony Vlachos as a cop
Speaking to podcast Challenge Mania during a February 2023 appearance, Iowa-based investigator Sarah Lacina noticed Tony Vlachos during casting and felt he looked, dressed, and walked like a cop.
Additionally, Sarah recalled him repeatedly getting brought up in her interviews and realized producers “lit up” when she identified him as a police officer, clueing her in. When asked about using production as an edge in the game, the Iowa native noted she used her Cagayan experience with them to help her game in subsequent seasons.

In Kentucky, the tribe has spoken, and Survivor champ Nick Wilson is now an elected official. The winner of Survivor: David vs. Goliath, the CBS show’s 37th season, won a seat as a Republican in Kentucky’s House of Representatives on Tuesday, November 8. Unlike in Survivor — where his competition included The White Lotus creator Mike White — Wilson had a clear path to victory on Tuesday night. He ran unopposed to fill the seat vacated by the retiring Regina Huff, per The Guardian. With his political victory in hand, Wilson will begin representing Kentucky’s 82nd district — which includes his hometown of Williamsburg — starting on January 1. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Nick Wilson (@nickwilson11) Wilson graduated from the University of Kentucky and got a law degree from the University of Alabama before working as a public defender for McCreary County and an assistant commonwealth attorney for Whitley and McCreary counties.

Nick Wilson, who took home a million dollars as the winner of Season 37 of the long-running Survivor series, has racked up another victory. He’s been elected to Kentucky’s House of Representatives.
A former public defender, Wilson ran unopposed in the 82nd district. He won Survivor: David Vs. Goliath in 2018 by a vote of 7-3-0.
Among those he beat out to win Survivor was Mike White, who went on to create White Lotus.
Wilson came back to Survivor in 2020 for its “Winners at War” season, which brought challenges from other past winners. He finished 7th in that competition.
A Republican, Wilson assumes office on January 1, 2023.

(Warning: This post contains major spoilers for the Season 40 finale of “Survivor.”)
The 40th season of “Survivor,” a.k.a. “Survivor: Winners at War,” came to a close with a supersized finale on Wednesday that saw one competitor walk away with a $2 million check and become the long-running CBS competition’s newest two-time “Sole Survivor. “
Tony Vlachos was the player with the honor of winning “Winners at War,” having previously been crowned the champion of Season 28, “Survivor: Cagayan.”
“Survivor: Winners at War” featured 20 legendary winners from the first 39 seasons of “Survivor” returning to compete against each other in the 20th anniversary edition of the competition. These winners included Vlachos, Natalie Anderson, Tyson Apostol, Danni Boatwright, Sophie Georgina Clarke, Jeremy Collins, Sandra Diaz-Twine, Ben Driebergen, Michele Fitzgerald, Wendell Holland, Adam Klein, Yul Kwon, Sarah Lacina, Amber Mariano, “Boston” Rob Mariano, Parvati Shallow, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, Denise Stapley, Nick Wilson and Ethan Zohn.

It seems like only yesterday the 20 returning “Survivor” champions returned for an epic clash in “Winners at War,” but now we’ve already reached the Season 40 finale. Heading into Wednesday’s three-hour event, only five castaways remained in the running to win the $2 million prize: Ben Driebergen, Denise Stapley, Michele Fitzgerald, Sarah Lacina and Tony Vlachos. But there were 14 players living on the Edge of Extinction who were itching for their chance to return to the game: Natalie Anderson, Amber Mariano, Danni Boatwright, Ethan Zohn, Rob Mariano, Parvati Shallow, Yul Kwon, Wendell Holland, Adam Klein, Tyson Apostol, Sophie Clarke, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, Jeremy Collins and Nick Wilson. The 20th contestant, Sandra Diaz-Twine, quit after being voted out on Day 16.

Most “Survivor” devotees are betting on Tony Vlachos to claim the title of Sole Survivor on the 40th season of the CBS show, “Winners at War.” The biggest argument made for predicting his ultimate victory on the three-hour finale this Wednesday, May 13? He is the only one of the 20 previous champs competing on this so-called “season on steroids” whose name has never been written down during a Tribal Council. He might be twitchy as an itchy squirrel sometimes, but he has shown off both his leadership skills, his physical prowess and endurance and even his social game.
That is why an overwhelming 62% voted in our Gold Derby poll for Tony to win it all and become just the second winner to win “Survivor” twice since Sandra Diaz-Twine, who left the season early after being blindsided with her own immunity idol and quit once she got to the Edge of Extinction.

Natalie Anderson is the richest woman on “Survivor: Winners at War,” at least in terms of fire tokens. Having collected a whopping 14 tokens since being voted out on Day 2, she now has several advantages going into the finale’s big re-entry challenge. As seen in last week’s penultimate episode, she bought three advantages for the upcoming challenge, a jar of peanut butter and a hidden Immunity Idol which she gave to Tyson Apostol just in case he won, having already purchased one for herself earlier. All of these are likely reasons why she is the definitive frontrunner to get back into the game in Wednesday’s “Survivor: Winners at War” finale.
Natalie has 4/9 odds of being the Edge of Extinction returnee, according to Gold Derby’s latest odds. In the opinion of our users, no one else is even close to being in that top position. Tyson is in the no.

Tony Vlachos is the only castaway of “Survivor: Winners of War” to not see his name written down even once during a Tribal Council vote — at least, so far. And, ever since the merge, he also has been pretty much large and in charge of who is saved and who is eliminated. The sometimes twitchy Sole Survivor from the Cagayan season of the CBS reality show has been also hugely entertaining on this 20th anniversary edition of the long-running show, whether eavesdropping on others in his so-called spy nest, briefly joyfully mistaking a disadvantage sent to him from the Edge of Extinction for an advantage or reacting to being pooped on by a bird.

“Survivor: Winners at War” sees 20 winners return to duke it out. It’s the greatest crop of contenders the game has ever seen. In my weekly “Battlelines” recap I will diagnose the casualty, declare who I think won the episode’s battle and who is best positioned to win the war. Please feel free to give me your thoughts in the comments below.
Battlelines re-calibrated and cemented
Last round, Tony Vlachos, Sarah Lacina, Ben Driebergen, Nick Wilson and Jeremy Collins voted together. Denise Stapley and Michele Fitzgerald were on the wrong side of things. This week Denise snuck into the group. Michele survived with an immunity win and Ben finally convincing his allies to cut Jeremy. Of the two tribals, Michele was the only person on the wrong side of the numbers both times. The battlelines have been re-calibrated but Michele stands alone on one side. Perhaps the returning player from extinction can provide backup.

Host Jeff Probst got personal during the first Tribal Council (which avoided the previous week’s chaotic strategizing and whispering) on Wednesday’s two-hour penultimate 13th episode of “Winners at War” when he asked the remaining seven castaways, all previous champs, “When the game is over, what does that do to your ability to trust, just in the world?” Ben Driebergen said he couldn’t even trust his wife after playing while Jeremy Collins, who participated in two past seasons, admitted that he didn’t believe some of his fellow firefighters.
In his post-show interview with Entertainment Weekly, Probst explained why they might have such lingering trust issues: “It speaks to the invoice that comes with any adventure that is based in reality and not fantasy. Just think through the basic premise of the show. You are abandoned with a group of strangers forced to work together to survive the jungle.

“It’s the first time I’ve ever been voted out,” said Nick Wilson after being voted out of “Survivor: Winners at War” in Wednesday’s penultimate episode. Heading into the two-hour 13th episode of “Survivor: Winners at War,” seven castaways still remained in the running to win the $2 million prize: Denise Stapley, Michele Fitzgerald, Sarah Lacina, Nick Wilson, Tony Vlachos, Jeremy Collins and Ben Driebergen. We saw a recalibration of the battlelines after Tony Vlachos, Nick Wilson, Jeremy Collins and Michele Fitzgerald voted against Sarah Lacina, Ben Driebergen, Kim Spradlin and Denise Stapley to blindside Sophie Clarke. While Tony and Sarah patched things up, Nick made a final three deal with Michele and Denise. The three seemed on board with Kim’s plan to take Tony out. Ben was in the loop, but considering options. Tony winning immunity meant we didn’t see if these new alliances would hold.

It’s down to the wire on “Survivor: Winners at War” as we prepare for this week’s special two-hour penultimate episode. Heading into the Final Seven, several castaways are skating on thin ice for varying reasons, especially big threats like Tony Vlachos, Jeremy Collins and Sarah Lacina. Some fans are even thinking Ben Driebergen‘s time will finally come.
Ben has the highest chance of being voted out in Wednesday’s two-hour episode, according to Gold Derby odds. The “Heroes vs. Healers vs. Hustlers” winner has 6/5 odds of going to the Edge of Extinction. Ben has been playing dangerously in the post-merge, earning the ire of Jeremy and ratting out plans to Tony. It’s possible if Tony wins another Immunity or protects himself with an idol that Ben could become a backup target. Then there’s Jeremy, who is very close with 14/5 odds of getting the boot. You love Tony Vlachos, and CBS knows it. This winner of “Survivor: Cagayan” is the only castaway who gets a special shout-out in the preview trailer for Wednesday’s two-hour penultimate episode, and for good reason: Tony is simply killing it on “Survivor: Winners at War.” His endless idol-hunting, social-scheming, challenge-winning and tree-hiding have made him the reason to keep watching Season 40 as we near the end (the finale is scheduled for May 13). On this week’s third to last episode of “Survivor: Winners at War,” Jeff Probst devilishly decided to offer temptation in the form of milk, chocolate, cookies and peanut butter during an especially grueling immunity challenge. While Denise Stapley and Tony Vlachos both hung in there and received safety at Tribal Council, three other former winners of the game — Nick Wilson, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe and Michele Fitzgerald all succumbed to their hunger pains by dropping out and chowing down. At least Nick got a fire token from his decision in the form of a bribe from Tony to quit.

“The feeling of being voted out was weird, but I’m not sorry for trying to gather the troops to take out Tony,” declared Kim Spradlin-Wolfe after her shocking elimination in “Survivor: Winners at War” Episode 12. After a momentous episode, Tony Vlachos is now the frontrunner to win “Survivor: Winners at War.” For many weeks, Sophie Clarke had been Gold Derby’s top contender to win Season 40 but Tony just orchestrated a blindside on her in a carefully calibrated 4-3-2 move, sending her out with an idol in her pocket. Can Tony actually go all the way after this move? Gold Derby users seem to think so.
Tony currently has 3/1 odds of emerging victorious from “Survivor: Winners at War,” according to our winner predictions. He is the overwhelming favorite among all predictors, racking up more top votes than the other 18 contestants combined. Michele Fitzgerald is a distant second with 37/10 odds followed by Sarah Lacina in third at 9/2. Nick Wilson, Kim Spradlin and Denise Stapley are the only other players who have more than one top vote.

It looks like the Cops-r-Us alliance on “Survivor: Winners at War” is about to be put out to pasture. After Tony Vlachos made the bold move to eliminate Sarah Lacina‘s close ally Sophie Clarke in last week’s episode, we see Sarah’s emotional reaction in CBS’s all-new preview trailer for Season 40, Episode 12 (watch above). “You just sunk my game!” Sarah tells Tony when they get back to camp. She then hisses, “I’m done! Do not talk to me ever again.” Can Tony find a way to reel in his cop buddy, or is the Sophie blindside the last move he’ll make?

After 11 episodes of “Survivor: Winners at War” only eight former champions remain in the main game while 11 others inhabit the Edge of Extinction awaiting their last chance to leave the jury and re-enter the competition. Last week, “Cagayan” winner Tony Vlachos dominated the game from all angles, putting him in a power position as the game nears its close, but placing an even bigger target on his back as he remains only one of two players in the game without a vote cast against them.
In the coming weeks Tony’s biggest job will be keeping the eyes off of him and on other players, but that may prove difficult now that he’s betrayed the trust of his closest ally, Sarah Lacina. Tony successfully maneuvered a vote to narrowly oust Sarah’s righthand woman, Sophie Clarke, without telling her. The move promises to fracture the cop alliance, possibly pushing...

After 11 episodes of “Survivor: Winners at War,” Tony Vlachos still has yet to receive a single vote at tribal council. Considering how much of a known threat he was heading into this epic 40th season, that is quite the accomplishment indeed. When this New Jersey police officer originally played in “Survivor: Cagayan,” his cutthroat attitude and penchant for lying made him one of the most slippery villains to ever win CBS’s reality TV show. He returned in “Survivor: Game Changers,” but his reputation got the best of him and he was the second player voted out.
“I’m on probation,” Tony joked in this season’s premiere when he first stepped foot on the Dakal beach. He desperately wanted to find a hidden immunity idol, but he knew if he disappeared he’d be on the chopping block. Tony’s tribe first went to tribal council on Day 3, but...

Last week on “Survivor: Winners at War,” the final 10 castaways seemingly divided into two groups of five, with Tony Vlachos, Sarah Lacina, Sophie Clarke, Ben Driebergen and Nick Wilson on one side and Jeremy Collins, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, Michele Fitzgerald, Denise Stapley and Tyson Apostol on the other. Jeremy peaced out at tribal council thanks to his “safety without power” advantage, leaving his group at a numbers disadvantage they simply couldn’t overcome. In the end, Tyson was sent to the Edge of Extinction (again). Did Jeremy and Kim’s group rebound this week, or did Tony and Sarah’s group continue their dominance?

“Survivor: Winners at War” sees 20 winners return to duke it out. It’s the greatest crop of contenders the game has ever seen. In my weekly “Battlelines” recap I will diagnose the casualty and declare who I think won the episode’s battle and who is best positioned to win the war. Please feel free to give me your thoughts in the comments below.
Battlelines are drawn
For the first time since the merge, battlelines were clearly drawn. No longer were a handful of players on the outs. There were two clearly defined groups of five firing at each other. On one side there was Tony Vlachos (who won immunity), Sophie Clarke (who had an idol), Sarah Lacina (who had a vote steal), Ben Driebergen and Nick Wilson. On the other side we saw Jeremy Collins (who had safety without power), Kim Spradlin (who had an idol), Tyson Apostol, Denise Stapley and Michele Fitzgerald.

“Survivor: Winners at War” contestant Jeremy Collins used his Safety without Power advantage at last week’s Tribal Council, so he may be out of luck for this week. The “Cambodia” champion has been playing a solid game on this all-winners season thus far but he narrowly avoided being blindsided last week and unless things change drastically, he’s bound to be targeted again, especially now that he played an advantage.
Jeremy currently has 3/2 odds of getting the boot at this upcoming Tribal Council, according to Gold Derby odds. This is the first time all season that the Massachusetts native has been the frontrunner in our odds to be voted out next. But if it’s not Jeremy, there are still plenty of predictors expecting it to be either Kim Spradlin (9/4 odds), Tony Vlachos (15/2) or Sophie Clarke (23/2). Kim and Sophie’s names were both thrown around as potential targets in...

Who would have thought going into “Survivor: Winners at War” that Tony Vlachos would be a frontrunner to take home another victory? His chaotic gameplay in “Survivor: Cagayan” was a perfect confluence of events that led to a (somewhat) unexpected win and it seemed unlikely he would ever be able to replicate such success in future seasons. That much was clear when he returned for “Survivor: Game Changers,” where he immediately became a target after running around the jungle doing all of his classic Tony antics and was voted out in the season premiere. Now, the 46-year-old police officer has switched up his game a bit and found himself a real contender to actually win this current all-winners season. Let’s look at four reasons why Tony deserves to win “Survivor: Winners at War.”

After using her hidden immunity idol last week on “Survivor: Winners at War,” Kim Spradlin-Wolfe now sets her sights on one of the biggest threats still in the game: Tony Vlachos. “I think Tony is trying to play double agent,” she whispers to Denise Stapley in CBS’s latest preview trailer for Season 40, Episode 11 (watch above). The only problem? Tony has the upper hand numbers-wise, as his alliance of five outnumbers her group of four.

When “Survivor: Winners at War” host Jeff Probst reads the final votes of Season 40 (from the comfort of his own home), whose name will you be rooting for to see on the parchment? As of this writing, only nine castaways remain in the running to take home the series-high prize of $2 million, with one more scheduled to join them from the Edge of Extinction at a later date. We hope you had your tissues handy as Tyson Apostol, Sophie Clarke, Jeremy Collins, Ben Driebergen, Michele Fitzgerald, Sarah Lacina, Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, Denise Stapley, Tony Vlachos and Nick Wilson hugged and kissed their spouses, significant others, children, etc. After all was said and done, who had their torch snuffed by host Jeff Probst?

The most recent “Survivor” winner on the Season 40 cast will likely get voted out next, predict our users. Nick Wilson, who won Season 37 (“David vs. Goliath”), now finds himself on the bottom among the final 10 castaways, getting votes at the last Tribal Council and having very few allies left in the game. Nick came into “Survivor: Winners at War” as one of the least threatening former champions — not exactly a dominant competitor despite playing a strong social game. But now, as the majority alliance continues to pick off those types of non-threats in the post-merge, Nick’s time may be running out.
Nick currently has 3/2 odds of being the next boot of “Survivor: Winners at War,” according to Gold Derby user odds. However, if it’s not Nick that goes home in Wednesday’s loved ones episode, prognosticators are expecting it to be Tyson Apostol, who returned to the active...

When Tony Vlachos originally played in “Survivor: Cagayan,” his cutthroat attitude and penchant for lying made him one of the most despicable villains to ever win CBS’s reality TV show. He returned in “Survivor: Game Changers,” but his reputation got the best of him and he was the second player voted out. No one on “Survivor” could have prepared themselves for what’s about to happen in next week’s highly anticipated loved ones episode. In the past, a single friend or family member was allowed to visit the island to boost the contestants’ spirits and give them a little love. But as this is “Winners at War,” the reality TV show stepped things up dramatically by bringing on entire families. “This is a fantasy come true,” weeps Tony Vlachos as he embraces his wife and daughter. Season 40’s loved ones episode airs Wednesday, April 15 on CBS, but you can watch the preview trailer above right now.

“I made one too many mistakes,” Adam Klein sighed after being voted out during Wednesday’s episode of “Survivor: Winners at War.” In his exit interview from the Edge of Extinction, this “Millennials vs. Gen X” champion continued, “Three strikes and you’re out in this game. The thought that there was an idol at tribal allowed me to play more aggressively than I should have and it cost me.” Adam’s elimination was a not a shocker as he was Gold Derby’s odds-on pick to go home for the past several weeks in a row.

Wendell sent to ‘kick it’ on extinction
When the guys on the Yara tribe turned on each other, it was likely going to spell trouble at the merge. It burnt bridges with people from their old tribe and they didn’t have many other connections. And it put Wendell Holland on the outs this week. The vote could have easily been Nick Wilson, but Wendell’s relationship with Jeremy Collins put a target on his back. This season on “Survivor,” connections (even perceived ones) have proven a detriment.

Sophie Clarke wasn’t quite a legend tier “Survivor” champ heading into “Winners at War,” but that might just change by the end of this season. As fans know, the first joint tribal council can be a make-or-break vote for many players’ games. Merges re-shuffle the deck, as former tribemates are reunited, new friends and foes are made and loyalties either get shifted or bulldozed all together. Historically, merges set the stage for some of the show’s best blindsides, so strap in and hold on tight. This week’s episode (airing Wednesday at 8/7c on CBS) is sure to bring some fireworks.
