Almost a century of greatness to boast. Miss America has been a staple in this great nation for almost 100 years. Which means almost 100 women have been given the honor of being crowned with the prestigious title of Miss America. A lot has changed since the pageant first began, but the tradition and legacy still remains the same. Women from all across the country compete annually to see who will be given the great honor. In 2019, Nia Franklin was crowned Miss America, a historic honor in it's own right, but made even more special considering that with Nia's win marks the first time three black women are the titleholders of the three major pageants titles: Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Teen...

It’s the fourth Thursday in November — time for turkey, football, family and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. This year’s 93rd annual event faces a threat from nature as severe winds are in the Gotham forecast, but that doesn’t mean the show won’t go on. Read a little more about that below as part of our guide of how to watch the parade that has been a Manhattan fixture since the Coolidge administration.
Starting at 9 a.m. Et, NBC will air the three-hour parade live in the East and delayed in all other times zones at 9 a.m. local time. Today’s Savannah Guthrie, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker will host the broadcast. Guthrie suffered an eye injury this week but said she planned to be ready to go on Thursday.

Want to avoid your family? Still too early for pigskin? The 93rd Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade can provide a serviceable distraction during the Thursday morning hours.
But how does one actually watch this thing? Readers, you came to the right place. For starters, those looking for Snoopy and Santa can catch them the traditional way on NBC, which will carry the parade broadcast from 9 a.m. to noon local time in all time zones.
Additionally, for the fourth year in a row, Macy’s, NBCUniversal and Verizon are combining forces for a 360-degree livestream on Verizon’s YouTube page. The second-screen experience will stream from 8:30 a.m. Et to noon Et across multiple platforms, also including Verizon Media, XBox, and NBC.com.
As TheWrap exclusively reported last week, this Thanksgiving, that Verizon-powered option is going 5G and will incorporate hologram and augmented-reality features. Read all about that experiment here,...

Cheslie Kryst, Nia Franklin and Kaliegh Garris are trailblazers in every sense of the word. For the first time in history, three black women are the titleholders of the three major pageants titles: Miss America, Miss USA and Miss Teen USA. Let that sink in. Cheslie, Nia and Kaliegh's recent achievement is even wilder considering it's been 36 years since Vanessa Williams became the first-ever black contestant to win the Miss America pageant in 1983. And, while the pageant world has made leaps and bounds in terms of progress, it's about time that there is equal representation for all! And these three young women could not be more proud to be a role model for young boys and girls...

NBC is returning to the beauty pageant arena.
The network has announced that it will air the 2020 “Miss America” competition, snagging it from ABC. NBC was the home of “Miss America” for two decades, and it also previously aired rival competition “Miss USA.” However, the Peacock decided to dump the latter competition series in 2015, due to the racist remarks made by then owner Donald Trump during the early stages of his Presidential campaign.
“Miss America,” which is currently chaired by Gretchen Carlson who won the crown in 1989, has undergone upheaval in recent years, dismissing its CEO Sam Haskell in 2017 over leaked emails he sent containing sexist comments about previous contestants.
The pageant has also gone through a rocky ratings period in the last couple decades. In 1997, ABC picked up the series, only to see its ratings steeply decline (nearly 50% during its nine-year run), before dropping it in 2005. “Miss America” then entered a broadcast wilderness,...
