So long, and thanks for all the fish. It is with a heavy but excited and hopeful heart that I make my exit from HitFix. I can honestly say that it has been my honor to be a part of this team. I will continue to follow the work of the brilliant writers and content creators on this site, just as I did before I arrived. It's been remarkable to have the opportunity to speak with the folks who are absolutely at the top of their respective fields about their passions: Drew on film and Alan on TV. It's like having some of the best dinner conversations of your life as your job. The same can be said of Chris Eggertsen, who specializes in horror (and, yes, Howard Stern), and Donna Dickens in geek culture, who it has been my pleasure to fan-fic and debate with in our She Saids.

Think Hollywood is bereft of original ideas? You just might after this. Here's our look at the assorted movie sequels currently in the works. Since we last did a list like this, we've dropped films that seem to have died a death - Wanted 2, Spring Breakers 2 - but we'll keep this rundown up to date over the coming month.

23 Jump Street
Sony is pressing ahead with a third Jump Street movie, as well as a possible Jump Street vs Men In Black film, and a female-headlined spin-off. For 23 Jump Street specifically, Rodney Rothman is back and working on the script (he wrote the second one). It's unclear yet if Chris Miller and Phil Lord can find breathing space in their schedule to direct. Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill are both expected back,...

According to Variety, Amy Poehler is in final negotiations to join Will Ferrell in the upcoming comedy The House. They'll play a married couple who spend their daughter's college savings, which inspires them to turn their basement into an illegal casino. Comical suburban shenigans will ensue. The script comes from Neighbors' Brendan O'Brien and Andrew J. Cohen (who is also directing), while Ferrell and Adam McKay will produce. Poehler and Ferrell overlapped for just one season on Saturday Night Live and were last seen together in Blades of Glory, which means that O'Brien and Cohen had better have some Kanye-friendly one-liners ready.

After bringing some pretty big laughs in last summer's hit comedy Neighbors, young star Zac Efron is sticking with comedy for a new project called Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. As if the title wasn't explanatory enough, THR reports the film will follow two brothers who post an online ad for wedding dates. Presumably they'll encounter some bad options in their search, making for some comedy. The film will actually reunite Efront with Neighbors producers and writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, who also had scripting duties on this new comedy set up at Fox. But just who will be directing? Jake Szymanski will be directing, and he already worked with Efron on this Funny or Die short: Szymanski also has experience directing several episodes of "Saturday Night Live," as well as a Christmas episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" back in 2013, and tons more shorts for Funny or Die.

March 28 (Reuters) - Robert Zildjian, founder of Sabian, one of the largest cymbal makers in the world, has died, according to the company's website. He was 89.
Zildjian ran the second-largest cymbal manufacturer in the world behind only the Avedis Zildjian Company, according to several music equipment websites.
His family began the Avedis Zildjian Company in Boston in 1928. Zildjian founded Sabian Inc in 1981 in New Brunswick, Canada, after leaving his family's company as a result of a dispute with his brother.

With Flu season upon us, it was fun to see what happened when our favorite deductive investigator is not at the top of his game in "You Do It To Yourself," which mostly involved him being one-up’ed by Watson and Bell.
It was awesome that Detective Bell actually stumped Holmes with the Mahjong tiles being a club pass. I wish he had held out a little longer and had made Holmes actually ask him about them. But, the blank stare that Holmes gave him totally made up for it and had me rolling with laughter.
Then we had Watson, who was at the top of her game. The conversation about the tea she made him from her mom’s recipe was priceless. Had Holmes not been sick, I’m sure he would have seen the folly in asking a former doctor about the medicinal properties of the herbs she just gave him.

New York -- He's obviously a professional singer, but The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers still thought it was a good idea to take voice lessons before hitting the studio to record the band's new album.
"It seemed like the right thing to do," he said in a recent interview. "I wanted to be better, get better and it's just helped me. ... (My voice teacher) knows what my ambitions are and he knows there's a certain style and something I've already got going on. We're just trying to fine-tune a few things."
The 31-year-old added that he's "not trying to be an opera singer or anything."
Dressed in a leather motorcycle jacket, with close-cropped hair, the rock singer embodies the stage presence of an old-time crooner along the lines of Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennett. And while Flowers lists both icons as major influences, glam rocker David Bowie sits at the top of the heap.

Yesterday it was Muse and today it's the Killers … album trailers are officially the new thing!
The Killers revealed the trailer for their fall 2012 release Battle Born on their Vevo page today (June 7) and the sound is, well, very much like most other Killers albums. Things kick off with some ambient sounds that evolve into a heavy synth line, which itself builds to a crescendo before introducing some drums. Sounds about right.
Visually, the clip opens on a sunset before seguing to a campfire intercut with a montage of shots of the band and flashes to the album title being spelled out letter by letter.
NME reports that track titles confirmed for Battle Born include "Heart Of A Girl," "Flesh And Bone," "Carry Me Home" and "Runaways." The band is again working with producer Stuart Price, who previously worked with the band on their last effort, 2008's Day & Age, and...

While it seems like an odd pairing, Zac Efron and Seth Rogen are teaming up for an untitled comedy from Universal Pictures.
Deadline reports that Universal won a day-long bidding battle for the movie, which benefited from a summer of successful, R-rated comedies. Rogen and his Superbad and Pineapple Express writing partner Evan Goldberg will produce the movie, scripted by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The movie will follow Rogen as a regular guy living near a raucous fraternity house, where Efron is a member, whose life is disrupted by the fraternity's behavior.

[1] Zac Efron and Seth Rogen are set to team up for an untitled R-rated comedy based on a pitch by Judd Apatow associates Andrew Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The pairing itself seems unlikely enough, but perhaps even more surprising is which role each actor will play -- in this film, it'll be funnyman Rogen who plays the straight man, while the clean-cut Efron tackles the part of a hard-partying frat boy. The story revolves around Rogen's character, a normal guy with the bad fortune to live next door to Efron's loud, obnoxious frat house. Rogen is also set to produce the film along with his partner Evan Goldberg. [Deadline [2]] After the jump, Hilary Swank picks up a graphic novel adaptation, while Ruben Fleischer's star-studded Gangster Squad loses a cast member. Hilary Swank will be boarding the comic book movie bandwagon with Shrapnel, based on a graphic novel written by Nick Sagan...

What do you do when R-rated comedies are so successful? You make more, pronto!
Universal is hoping the "Bridesmaids" lightning will strike twice as the studio has just bought a comedy pitch that will unite Zac Efron and Seth Rogen, according to Deadline.
The untitled R-rated comedy, which Rogen will co-write with Brendan O'Brien, will feature Efron as a college student whose rowdy fraternity house causes all sorts of problems with a family man townie neighbor played by Rogen.
"Rogen and Efron" is the last comedy duo we thought we'd ever see, but now that their team-up is official, we think Universal may have just found the two-man recipe for comedy gold.
Interesting, too, that it seems a comedy can be rated R but a horror movie has to be PG-13. Strange days, friends.
Seth Rogen will next be seen in "50/50," opening Sept. 30, and "My Mother's Curse," opening March 30, 2012. He's...

Seattle — With just a few hours left before I had to catch a plane out of town, there was one more stop I had to make on my whirlwind Seattle music history tour.
Driving to a nondescript industrial zone amid anonymous warehouses, I set out to explore the Pearl Jam headquarters.
Not many bands have the kind of well-oiled machine that Pj has built over the past two decades, but their digs should be an inspiration to any kid in his basement hoping to one day rock the masses. This is what hard work, great tunes and a rabid fanbase can get you, a playground all your own where you can offer your diehards an unending supply of high-end swag, including, at the moment, lush collector's box sets of your albums, plenty of which were in evidence on pallets scattered throughout the building.

My Chemical Romance's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is, on the surface, yet another concept album from a band that seemingly makes nothing but concept albums. It's a daring, DayGlo-addled story about a band of outlaws — that would be, of course, the titular Killjoys — battling an oppressive corporation in a postapocalyptic future world (or something like that).
But if you dig a little deeper, past the costumes and car chases and down to the nuts and bolts of how it came to be, you quickly learn that Danger Days is a lot more than just a work of fiction. Its creation was, in all honesty, much stranger than anything frontman Gerard Way ever could have written.

Perhaps there's something in the air. Yesterday, Wake-Up Video devoted itself to Creed, one of the most maligned and hated-on bands of the modern era. On November 22, My Chemical Romance will return with their supercharged new album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, and if they seem rather invigorated this time out — what with frontman Gerard Way's radioactive-red dye job and their newfound affinity for Trans Ams and DayGlo leather jackets — well, they owe it all to one song: the hyperkinetic first single, "Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)."
Because, as Way told BBC Radio's Zane Lowe earlier this week, up until the moment they wrote the song, MCR were floundering, putting the finishing touches on an album (produced by Brendan O'Brien) that they weren't happy with, and dealing with the departure of drummer Bob Bryar.

It's been nearly three years in the making, and during that time, it's been called a "no-concept" record, a down-and-dirty punk album, a "love letter to rock and roll" and, most recently, a fast-and-loose celebration of the Jersey Shore and "that era when heavy metal was yet to become hair rock."
But now we actually know what to call My Chemical Romance's fourth album: Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.

Earlier this month, a new song "Crossfire" began streaming on Brandon Flowers' website, hence, our June 15 Song Of The Day. Now, even more details have arrived on The Killers frontman's solo debut, "Flamingo." That 10-track birdie will take flight on Sept. 14 via Island, with production help from Stuart Price (who helmed the band's latest "Day & Age"), Brendan O'Brien (Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots) and Daniel Lanois (Bob Dylan, U2). Jenny Lewis -- who was featured in Tuesday's Song Of The Day -- is also providing backing vocals on two different tracks. "Flamingo" is "inextricably tied to Vegas in...

While his bandmates keep busy hanging out with members of Duran Duran and forming side projects with ominous-sounding names, Killers frontman Brandon Flowers has been prepping his solo debut, a glossy thing he's calling Flamingo.
And now, whether he's ready or not, fans can get their first listen to the fruits of Flowers' solo labors: A song called "Crossfire" hit the 'Net this weekend.
The song, a slow-burning, wide-screen epic on par with the Killers' Sam's Town era, features spiraling, Edge-ian guitars, trilling strings and a massive chorus, with Flowers keening "Lay your body down/ next to mine!" in a lithe falsetto. Elsewhere, he croons about the devil's fiery arrows and a clandestine lover who keeps her secrets on her pillow.

We're kicking off Rock Week at MTV News with a look at My Chemical Romance's yet-untitled new effort, which sees them ditching the preening and pancake makeup in favor of some seriously strutting riffs and more than a few nods to heavy metal's studded past.
Here's what we know about the album, the follow-up to McR's ambitious 2006 rock opera The Black Parade: It will most certainly not be The Black Parade II.
More specifically, there will be no high-concept videos, no Queen-biting guitar heroics, no cameos by Liza Minnelli. Gone are the makeup and the uniforms and much of the pretense. Instead, we get MCR: stripped. For nearly a year now, they've been talking up the back-to-basics approach they've taken for album four, promising, "It's not...

Whether it's her music, image or fashion, Madonna has always been adamant about change and reinvention throughout her career. Her new, yet-untitled album will be no different.
The singer, who is currently hard at work to deliver the follow-up to 2008's Hard Candy, has lined up a series of collaborators, including DJ A-Trak, David Guetta and Fernando Garibay, to help her with a new sound.
"It's my production, turned into song structure — halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to," DJ A-Trak told British newspaper the Daily Star.
Madonna isn't the only star to work with the DJ recently. A few months ago, A-Trak revealed that he and Kanye West were throwing out several new ideas for his upcoming album. "Kanye's...

Singer Madonna is reportedly planning to try something different with her next album. The 51-year-old star will be working with DJ A-Trak on the follow-up to her Hard Candy album, which is currently due out later this year. The recordings will also be looked over by Pearl Jam producer Brendan O'Brien, 49. A-Trak, full name Alain Macklovitch, 27, said: 'It's my production, turned into song structure - halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to.' A-Trak has been winning awards for his work since he was 15 and recently finished playing as a warm-up DJ for rapper Kanye West, 32, after four years.

Madonna is set to take a new rap/rock direction on her next album. The 'Celebration' singer is working with both rap producer A-Trak and rock producer Brendan O'Brien - who has previously worked with Pearl Jam - and attempting to merge the two genres on the follow up to her hip-hop influenced 2008 LP, 'Hard Candy'. A-Trak, real name Alain Macklovitch, told the Daily Star newspaper: "It's my production, turned into song structure - halfway between rap and electronic and whatever else I listen to." Madonna, 51, is said to be set on making a track to match the success of Run Dmc's groundbreaking 80s hit 'Walk This Way', which defined the rap/rock genre - and went on to spawn...

If you thought 2009 was a big year for music, just wait until you see what 2010 has in store. While the past 12 months were all about Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift, Susan Boyle and Adam Lambert, 2010 is shaping up to be the year of the comeback, the sequel and the new look, with anticipated discs on tap from a reunited Blink-182, Katy Perry, Christina Aguilera, Diddy, Kanye West, Vampire Weekend, Usher, Mgmt and the soundtrack to the third "Twilight" film, "Eclipse."
Pop
Perry has been "spilling out material" for the follow-up to her breakthrough, One of the Boys, citing such über-pop acts as Ace of Base and the Cardigans as inspiration. She's worked with Weezer's Rivers Cuomo and Rihanna collaborator Tricky Stewart so far, but hasn't really nailed down a release date.

Madonna is currently at work on a new album, which is expected to be unleashed some time in 2010. She has stayed relevant in the music business by constantly reinventing herself, taking in new genres and musical experiments and making them her own. She is meticulous about how she selects collaborators, because they inform the sound of the albums as much at Madge herself.
One of the confirmed producers working on the still-unnamed work is Brendan O'Brien, who made a name for himself sitting behind the boards for Pearl Jam and has also helmed productions for Bruce Springsteen, Rage Against the Machine, Stone Temple Pilots, AC/DC and Aerosmith. Does that mean that the singer behind "Like a Prayer," "Ray of Light" and "Hung Up" is going to dive deep into the rock world and make a guitar-based album?

Brendan O'Brien is a record producer. He's actually kind of a big deal, as far as record producers go. If you've listened to alternative rock in the last 20 years, chances are you've heard his work. His credits including a veritable laundry list of monster acts, from Stone Temple Pilots to Bruce Springsteen, Mastodon to AC/DC, Incubus to Rage Against the Machine. But a band he's worked with as much as any is Pearl Jam. Returning to the studio with Eddie Vedder and Co. for the first time in 11 years, O'Brien produced the band's latest, Backspacer. And when Paste rang him up recently to talk about the album, he was taking a break from working on the new My Chemical Romance in Los Angeles. Busy guy.

It's hard to believe that nearly two decades have past since Mookie Blaylock rose from the ashes of Mother Love Bone, quickly (and wisely) changing its name to Pearl Jam shortly thereafter. Couple of short stories for you today about new films that are a ways down the road. First up, according to Variety, Universal has purchased a pitch by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien called The Best Thing About Pam Rooney. It's a "high-concept" romantic comedy, and it will be developed as a starring project for Jonah Hill. Cohen and O'Brien are vets of Judd Apatow's stable; they'll exec produce. Next up: something new for the two Harold & Kumar creators. THR reports that writer Josh Friedlander has sold One Night Stan to Lionsgate. The original comedy script will go into the hands of Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle writers Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, who will take on directing duties for the comedy. (They also directed the second Harold & Kumar movie.) One Night Stan is also high-concept stuff, as a guy (Stan), about to be married, discovers that...

Funny guy Jonah Hill is on a roll, and he's attached to star in "The Best Thing About Pam Rooney," a comedy Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien will write for Universal Studios.
Plot details are kept under wraps right now, but Variety calls "Pam Rooney" a high-concept romantic comedy. Cohen and O'Brien will also serve as executive producers on the project.
Hill can currently be seen in Judd Apatow's "Funny People." I also really enjoyed his performances in "Superbad," "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" and "Knocked Up."
Next up for Hill is "The Invention of Lying," Ricky Gervais' next flick. He's also got "Get Him to the Greek" and "The Adventurer's Handbook" soon.

Following the immense success of The Hangover this year, studios are scrambling to pick up as many raunchy, R-rated comedies as they can. Two new comedies have been announced today by the trades. The first is One Night Stan that Josh Friedlander wrote. The film was sold to Lionsgate with Harold & Kumar creators Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg (seen above) set to direct. The second is The Best Thing About Pam Rooney, a high-concept romantic comedy to be written by Andrew Jay Cohen and Brendan O'Brien that Jonah Hill will produce and star in. That was sold to Universal but doesn't have a director yet. Since Variety didn't include a synopsis for Jonah Hill's The Best Thing About Pam Rooney, we're just going to stick with the other project. One Night Stan (via THR) plays out a scenario about which many men fantasize on the cusp of marriage. When...

My Chemical Romance have revealed about crafting new songs for their upcoming fourth studio album. In finishing the record, this band team up with producer Brendan O'Brien, the same man who helped Bruce Springsteen and Pearl Jam working on their albums.
"We're so happy working with Brendan O'Brien," frontman Gerard Way told MTV. "We love him, we're having the best time of our lives. It's a total blast. I feel like it's getting close to being finished. We're doing tracking now. There's no title yet. It's crazy - this is the first time we're waiting to get really far into the project before [choosing a title]. I'm actually kind of excited about that. It's kind of 'anything goes' at this point, but I'm so happy with the songs."
On what to expect from the not yet titled effort, Gerard said, "It's definitely more aggressive, but to me it feels like a celebration of rock and roll.

Three weeks after Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament was mugged outside the Atlanta recording studio where the band are working on their new album, a surveillance video has surfaced of the incident.
The video shows Ament and a band employee, Mark Anthony Smith, being attacked last month by three men wearing masks and waving knives outside Southern Tracks Recording, a studio in North Atlanta favored by the band's longtime collaborator, producer Brendan O'Brien.
The DeKalb County Police Department reported that Ament and Smith were attacked by the men just before noon on April 27, when the assailants allegedly walked out of some nearby woods. The three men, brandishing knives, smashed windows on a rented Jeep Commander, stole a BlackBerry and other belongings and demanded money, according to the police report.
