Writer, producer, director, cinematographer, and editor (film, videotape, and Avid), Rick R. Theis has written, produced, and edited short documentaries for broadcast TV (on black lung disease; community organizing; refugee resettlement; weapons engineer turned anti-nuclear activist, Tom Siemer; son of a slave and folk artist, Elijah Pierce; etc.); concert videos and musician interviews (e.g., Nick Cave, Motley Crue, the Chesterfield Kings); educational videos (medical, health, history, etc.); and promotional/marketing videos, films, and commercial spots. He has assisted with the documentaries of others ("3 Years Past," "Still/Here," "Unraveled," etc.) in various capacities. He is also the creator of many movies on film (8mm, super-8), videotape (¾", Hi-8, Betacam, Betacam SP), and digital formats (miniDV, iPhone); writer of more than 200 short scripts; and author of the original feature-length screenplay, "Passion Play" [Writers Guild of America (West) Registration #: 1214618].
