Earlier this month ReelzChannel premiered JFK: The Smoking Gun, a documentary that presented a clean, concise, logical premise about President Kennedy's death. Retired detective Colin McLaren contends that one of the bullets fired did not come from the school book depository, but instead was accidentally discharged by a Secret Service Agent. While McLaren's argument convinced us, there are some that believe that there were some X-Men involved in his death.
Marvel and 20th Century Fox have just released a report explaining how Magneto was responsible for Kennedy's death, and that the powerful mutant was the mysterious man on the Grassy Knoll in Dealey Plaza. The story contends that while Oswald was the one that fired the bullet, it was Magneto who was able to change its trajectory so that it would hit its intended target. It's clear that this "Bent Bullet" theory is all a part of the epic marketing...

From the complicated to the absurd, there is no shortage of hypotheses concocted by conspiracy theorists about what happened on that fateful day in Dallas nearly fifty years ago. While the upcoming Reelz documentary JFK: The Smoking Gun presents a straightforward, plausible and logical solution to this long unsolved mystery, many of the ideas that theorists come up with seem quite unlikely. Ballistics expert Howard Donahue and veteran police detective Colin McLaren came to conclusions which are simple and don't rely on unsubstantiated claims, and audiences will get a glimpse of the processes they used when JFK: The Smoking Gun premieres Sunday, November 3rd. As for all those off-the-wall conspiracy theories, we took a moment to examine some of the claims, all of which look just a little more unlikely when compared with the evidence presented in the upcoming documentary.

In the late 1960s, expert marksman Howard Donahue was involved in an experiment to prove that Lee Harvey Oswald was acting alone on that fateful November day in 1963. Though he proved that it was indeed possible for a lone gunman to fire all three shots, the experiment left the ballistics expert with many questions about Kennedy’s death. From that day, Donahue started down a path looking for clues that could reveal the truth about JFK’s assassination. Though he found the answers he was searching for, his analyses were largely ignored by the public and completely ignored by the government. Now Detective Colin McLaren has done a thorough analysis of Donahue’s findings, and found that they are consistent with his investigation which involved modern-day forensic evidence as well as a plethora of eyewitness accounts. McLaren will present their findings in the upcoming documentary JFK: The Smoking Gun which premieres Sunday,...

On November 3rd, Reelz will air JFK: The Smoking Gun, a documentary that follows Detective Colin McLaren's cold case investigation into the assassination of JFK. But what inspired McLaren to examine the facts about President Kennedy's death? It turns out he was intrigued by the book Mortal Error: The Shot That Killed JFK. The international bestseller, written by Bonar Menninger, detailed the conclusions that a ballistics expert came to while searching for answers about JFK's assassination. Here's the synopsis for the book:
In 1967, a Baltimore man named Howard Donahue began investigating the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. Like countless Americans, Donahue was fascinated by the events in Dallas, but what separated him from other amateur sleuths, and even the Warren Commission experts, is that he had a lifetime's experience with guns and ballistics. In the years ahead, these two attributes, plus bulldog-like tenacity, would carry Donahue on a...

A new documentary is making a starting claim about one of the biggest news stories of the last 100 years; the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. "JFK: The Smoking Gun" alleges that not only was there a second shooter on that day, but that it was a member of Kennedy's own Secret Service who pulled the trigger, Agent George Hickey.
The longstanding official version of the events state that Lee Harvey Oswald was the sole gunman on the day Kennedy was shot, though many have argued over the years that he did not act alone, if he was part of it at all. The documentary, which debuts November 3 on the Reelz Channel and was announced during a 2013 TCA presentation, says that Hickey pulled the trigger, firing an unintentional second shot.

Beverly Hills, Calif. — Weeks before the 50th anniversary of President John F. Kennedy's assassination this fall, ReelzChannel will take another look at the killing in a docudrama that suggests a Secret Service agent fired one of the bullets that felled Kennedy.

McLaren spent four years combing through evidence from Kennedy's death on Nov. 22, 1963, in Dallas. He and Menninger also relied on ballistics evidence from an earlier book by Howard Donahue.
The two-hour docudrama airs Nov. 3 in the U.S., Canada and Australia. It suggests that agent George Hickey fired one of the bullets that hit Kennedy. Hickey, who is now dead, was riding in the car behind Kennedy's limo that day.

A new documentary alleges that a Secret Service agent was the second (and accidental) shooter in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.
At the Television Critics Association press tour in Los Angeles on Sunday, producers and investigators behind Reelz Channel's new documentary "JFK: The Smoking Gun" made the claim that George Hickey, a Secret Service agent riding in the car behind Kennedy, accidentally shot the president on November 22, 1963. The film follows veteran police detective Colin McLaren in his four-year investigation of the assassination and points at Hickey, who died two years ago.
McLaren's research built on the work of Howard Donahue, who spent 20 years studying the assassination and had his findings documented in Bonar Menninger’s book Mortal Error: The Shot That Killed JFK. McLaren and Menninger were on hand Sunday to take questions about their film, which the network billed in press notes as a "docudrama."

Ray Richmond contributes to Deadline’s TCA coverage. The most investigated crime in world history — the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on Nov. 22, 1963 — gets yet a new theory when ReelzChannel premieres the original investigative doc JFK: The Smoking Gun on Nov. 3 precisely 19 days before the 50th anniversary. While JFK conspiracy fatigue long ago set in, it provided undeniably fascinating fodder during a TCA panel that comes to a genuinely fascinating conclusion: There was a second shooter during that fateful day in Dallas, and it wasn’t an assassin. It was a Secret Service agent named George Hickey, who was riding in the car in the motorcade directly behind Kennedy’s vehicle and whose automatic weapon accidentally discharged. This is the theory, presented in painstaking scientific detail, that the doc will lay out. On the panel, an author named Bonar Menninger and a retired Australian detective Colin McLaren presented their...

Principal photography began on Monday in Dallas, Texas for JFK: The Smoking Gun, a special investigative documentary of John F. Kennedy's assassination. The documentary is based on the work of veteran Police Detective Colin McLaren who spent four years on the forensic cold case investigation.
What makes McLaren's investigation different than those that came before it is the fact that he had all the evidence, facts and eyewitness testimony from fifty years ago as well as modern forensic technology. McLaren’s findings are a far cry from the fanciful conspiracy theories that usually surround this assassination. His case is methodically constructed from simple logic and available evidence using time-tested investigative techniques to solve the crime; including key archival photographic evidence, medical reports and bullet science.
Don't miss the two-hour special JFK: The Smoking Gun when it airs on Reelz in November 2013.

Death, dishonour and bad weather all conspired to derail low-budget Scottish comedy Donkeys, but it made it back from development hell against all the odds, writes Jane Graham
It's hard to know where to begin. The series of unfortunate events that has dogged the low-budget Scottish indie film Donkeys – last minute recasting, a troubled shoot, conflict within the production team – now appears to have a happy ending, and this jet-black comedy about an old man coming to terms with his impending death is shaping up as Scotland's underground hit of the year.
Not much about Donkeys' return from the brink makes sense. The film began life as the middle section of a film trilogy called Advance Party, dreamed up by Scotland's Sigma Films and their partners, Lars von Trier's Zentropa Films. You may have heard of Red Road, the first part, directed by Andrea Arnold. The trilogy was...
