Rolf Schrader made his filmmaking debut directing a number of
award-winning documentaries, public service announcements and music
videos. He then wrote and directed his first short film _Where River Flows (1994) which
premiered as one of the six Opening Night Gala films at the 1995
Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival. Shortly thereafter, Rolf wrote
and directed his first feature film Stone Coats (1996), which premiered at the
1997 Montreal World Film Festival, where it acquired worldwide
distribution. In 2000 he attended the American Film Institute (AFI), as
a Directing Fellow, but left the next year to direct his second feature
film, Hungry Hearts (2002). This film was selected to compete at eleven
International Film Festivals, garnering Rolf two awards for Best
Director, and acquired distribution. Fall 2002, Rolf returned to the
AFI and co-wrote as well as directed the short, Sci-Fi thriller titled
A.N.I. 1240, based on his feature script. A.N.I. premiered at the 2003
Boston Film Festival, has so far been invited to ten International Film
Festivals, and acquired worldwide distribution. Mr. Schrader has
received 36 awards and nominations for his completed works.
