- Emile Pollak was born on April 21, 1914 in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France. He died on January 6, 1978 in Marseille, Bouches-du-Rhône, France.
- One of the greatest French defence attorneys from the 40s to the 70s. Amongst his clients were Gaston Dominici in 1954, the Guérini family (mafia from Marseille) in the 60s. He was one of the lead voices for the abolition of death penalty too : five of his clients were guillotined, the last one being the last man ever executed in France, murderer and torturer Hamida Djandoubi, on September 10th, 1977. Pollak died a few months after this execution.
