Emma Watson is opening up about a challenging time in her life. In an interview with Financial Times, Watson, who hasn’t starred in a movie since 2018’s “Little Women”, reveals she “wasn’t very happy” when she was working as an actress.
“I think I felt a bit caged,” Watson, 33, explains. “The thing I found really hard was that I had to go out and sell something that I really didn’t have very much control over. To stand in front of a film and have every journalist be able to say, ‘How does this align with your viewpoint?’ It was very difficult to have to be the face and the spokesperson for things where I didn’t get to be involved in the process.”
“I was held accountable in a way that I began to find really frustrating, because I didn’t have a voice, I didn’t have a say,...

While celebrity actress and teen fave Emma Watson of Harry Potter fame was growing up in front of the entire world, she apparently had no idea of how much bling she was actually pulling in! According to recent reports published by Forbes.com, celebrity actress Emma Watson is worth a cool $32 million, putting her at number eight on the list of celebrities under the age of 30. For the well-grounded celebrity actress Emma Watson, who also appears in the December issue of Vogue UK, the staggering number doesn’t influence her in what she wants to do in life. Currently enrolled at Brown University in New England, teen fave Emma Watson has largely stayed out of the limelight and fully plans to complete her education while being very selective with the film roles she chooses in the future. Of course, being nominated as one of the People’s Choice Awards Favorite...

Emma Watson was just a 17-year-old actress enjoying her beloved role in the Harry Potter saga when - pouf! - she learned she had conjured up an estimated $32 million. While such news would likely inspire most teens to embark on a serious shopping spree, Emma, now 20, wasn't exactly happy to learn she was a young millionairess, as she recalls a sit-down with her dad, Chris Watson, in the December issue of British Vogue. "By the third or fourth film, the money was starting to get serious," she told Vogue (via Oh No They Didn't!) "I had no idea. I felt...

She may play Harry Potter's bookish sidekick Hermione Granger, but there are some books that caught Emma Watson by surprise - her financial ledgers. Throughout her early career, Watson, 20, had been given a small weekly allowance of about $75, having no idea of the fortune she was amassing from the hit movie series until she had a "money conversation" with her father, Chris Watson, when she was around 17, the actress - and Brown University student in Rhode Island - tells December's edition of British Vogue. Watson is now said to be worth $32 million, give or take a few pounds sterling. "By the third or fourth film,...

A live musical performance to accompany a restored print of a film of Captain Scott's tragic polar quest highlights the shattering impact of noiselessness
Real silence, by all accounts, is an unpleasant sensation. "Forty years after entering an anechoic chamber for the first time, I still remember my strange feelings of pressure, discomfort, and disorientation," said Barry Blesser, co-author of the book Spaces Speak, Are You Listening? Wildlife sound recordist Chris Watson summed up the same experience more succinctly as "hell". Against that kind of absolute quiet, Watson's recording of the "silence" of Captain Robert Falcon Scott's cabin in the Antarctic, taken while on location there with David Attenborough earlier this year, seems quite busy – despite being nothing but ambience, a gently tinted quiet.
It's a recording that features in Simon Fisher Turner's partly improvised score for the beautifully restored print of The Great White Silence, Herbert Ponting's account,...

A chart mapping the social networking, free-marketing ecosystem.
Web 2.0 is changing the nature of advertising and marketing--no news there. But any would-be social marketer is now deluged with choices. Which is why Chris Watson at Visualization Magazine designed this chart, which shows 30 different Web 2.0 services offering free sites, feeds, or embeds.
The chart itself looks incredibly daunting, and takes a couple minutes to decode, but it's enormously useful in mapping the sheer variety out there in the Web 2.0 self-promo ecosystem.
The basic design shows places where you can create content, with icons about how you might publish that content (RSS, for example), and finally, lines showing where you might try and get that content republished:
Most useful, perhaps is the list of sites at the bottom, and the descriptions of each.
Now all you have to do is create a product worth getting excited over.
Check out the full-size version.

Depicter of Hermione Granger on "Harry Potter" film series, Emma Watson, reportedly has invited her banker boyfriend Jay Barrymore to stay together at her new 3 million pound sterling home in London. Sources tell Britain's Daily Mirror that the couple is ready "to go public" with their romance after going on a date for 16 months.
"Her relationship with Jay is going from strength to strength. They are spending increasing amounts of time with one another," a source says of the pair. "It makes perfect sense for Jay to leave some of his stuff at hers and see how it goes. So far, so good - and Emma's confident they'll stay together even when she's abroad."
Additionally, the source claims Watson's new house is very close to her father Chris Watson's. "It's a North London townhouse and it's just a stone's throw from her dad Chris' house. So she can pop...
