- He was the first actor to play Davros, the mad scientist and creator of the Daleks, in Doctor Who (1963) or Doctor Who (2005). He played the character in the serial Genesis of the Daleks: Part One (1975). He was asked to play Davros again in both Destiny of the Daleks: Episode One (1979) and Resurrection of the Daleks: Part One (1984) but stage tours prevented him from reprising the role. He was succeeded in the role by David Gooderson, Terry Molloy and Julian Bleach.
