British-born librettist, lyricist and screenwriter, a former illustrator for the Daily Graphic. Wrote songs for musical comedies on the London stage during the early 1900's. Wrote several plays after wartime service in the Royal Artillery during World War I. Active in the film business from 1930, Wimperis was particularly associated with the films of Alexander Korda between 1932 and 1938, often working in collaboration with Lajos Biro. Under contract with MGM from 1941 until his death, he was much acclaimed for his scripting of
Random Harvest (1942) and
Mrs. Miniver (1942).
