The trailer for Willie Nelson & Family, the four-part documentary by directors Thom Zimny and Oren Moverman, offers a glimpse of the colorful life of the Red Headed Stranger.
The clip features some of the rare archival clips that anchor the film, including images of Nelson playing his guitar Trigger, hanging with fellow musicians, and even falling into an inflatable pool backstage at a festival. There’s also loads of footage of Nelson onstage with his Family Band, including his sister Bobbie Nelson, who died in 2022.

There are few things more potentially derailing to a rising artist’s career than imposter syndrome, that nagging sense that you’re just not good enough to warrant a seat at the table. But Nashville guitar phenom Daniel Donato views the condition less as an obstacle and more an opportunity to absorb. He recalls a recent moment onstage with Widespread Panic when he gave in and allowed himself to be open to the music being played around him.

Just call them the Rolling Stoners.
You know you are music royalty when Keith Richards shows up to pay his respects. And the Rolling Stones icon was on hand Sunday for the second and final night of Willie Nelson’s epic, 90th birthday concert at the Hollywood Bowl.
At 79, Richards was the youngster in this pairing of living legends, and the two harmonized sweetly on two songs: Waylon Jennings’ “We Had It All” and the late outlaw Billy Joe Shaver’s “Live Forever,” particularly poignant with its refrain, “Just like the songs I leave behind me / I’m gonna live forever, now.”
The Richards surprise came shortly after 10:00 p.m. on this cool, overcast night in the hills above Hollywood, nearly three-and-a-half hours into the evening’s celebration.

It’s a mortifying experience to have to admit to the members of the band Goose, in the interests of full disclosure, that you have not yet seen them live. That’s because Goose is, by most accounts, the most talked about jam band in the country right now. How can one truly understand a jam band if they haven’t been in that crowd, riding an improvisational wave of sound to some unknown peak that will never be replicated in exactly the same way? Sure, you can dig through concert clips on YouTube.
