Mary Jane Watkins was born on 27 September 1902 in Columbia, Tennessee, USA. She was an actress, known for Deceit (1923) and The Black King (1932). She died on 11 January 1977 in Detroit, Michigan, USA.
A 1923 graduate of the Howard University School of Dentistry, Dr. Mary Jane Watkins practiced dentistry in New York state, particularly in Harlem from 1924 until her retirement in 1972, save for two years in Nigeria. Earlier, during World War II, Dr. Watkins was the first African-American woman to be accepted for service in the WACs (Women's Army Corps).
