- His work includes more than 2,000 arrangements and compositions, and his name is on more than 60 albums. In 1968, he founded The Big Jazz Band, which he conducted for more than 50 years. He performed at almost every Montreal International Jazz Festival, including the first one in 1980. He appeared with Paul Anka, Édith Piaf, Celine Dion, Michel Legrand, Maynard Ferguson, Oscar Peterson, Gerry Mulligan, Mel Tormé, and Dizzy Gillespie, among others. Best known as a pianist, he also played the trombone.
