- Katie Underwood is best known for her success with Australian dance act Disco Montego and her Top 10 hit Beautiful, released in May 2002. Beautiful won the award for Most Played Australian Dance Track at the 2003 APRA awards and received 2 ARIA nominations in 2002 - for Best Pop Release and Best Video. Her first solo single Danger also earned her a 2nd APRA nomination for Most played Australian Dance Track in 2004. Her latest offering is a collaboration with T-Funk (aka Mr Timothy), called Be Together, to be released by Ministry of Sound in June 2006.
In February 1999, Katie recorded a dance track with UK Trance act Terra Ferma, releasing her first single Don't Be Afraid through Platipus Records in the UK. She also recorded three more tracks, which were included on the Terra Ferma album, released in early 2000.
After returning from the UK, Katie began working with singer/songwriter Charlie Rooke (formerly of The Sharp) and they formed a jazz-swing band called Corduroy Lounge. Then in October 1999, Katie auditioned for the TV show Popstars, making it through to the final five. As a result she was selected to join the all girl pop group, Bardot.
Bardot achieved huge success with a double platinum album and single in Australia and New Zealand with two singles achieving Gold. The group travelled extensively throughout Asia, achieving similar success in that territory. In October 2000 the group picked up three ARIA nominations for highest selling single, highest selling album and best video.
Katie left Bardot in 2001 and returned to the music scene a year later with the dance hit, "Beautiful". At the same time, she began a career in television, working as a presenter in the Channel 7 series Undercover Angels.
