Capcom's perennially popular survival horror video game franchise "Resident Evil" has been adapted for both film and television over the years, in live-action and animation. The franchise's cinematic debut began in 2002, loosely following the original game's plot of specialists investigating the nefarious pharmaceutical company the Umbrella Corporation. This leads to Umbrella unleashing the T-Virus, a genetically engineered virus that transforms those infected into ravenous, undead zombies.
While the live-action films have handled the video game source material with varying amounts of fidelity and controversy, there has also been a line of CG animated movies set in the same continuity as the games. Successful worldwide, the "Resident Evil" movies have earned their fair share of fans, including devotees of the games and those new to the franchise. With plenty of films to choose from across the original movie series, 2021 reboot, and animated features, here are the best "Resident Evil" films ranked from worst to best.

Video games may be filled with mutant enemies and extraterrestrial terrors, but there’s something to be said about games that rely on existing creatures to scare unwitting players. While real world animals might seem tame compared to the imagined beasts of fiction, an evening watching Animal Planet will likely convince you that there’s nothing scarier than a real predator that has decided to make you its next meal.
And with so many ravenous creatures to choose from, we’ve decided to come up with a list celebrating six of the scariest animal attacks in gaming. After all, from deep sea predators to rabid bears, there are plenty of natural thrills to be found if you’re willing to look past the usual genre excesses.
As usual, we’ll be abiding by a couple of rules. First of all, we’ll only be including real animals (so no Reaper...

Rihanna is going to the Oscars! However, her son, whose name the "Umbrella" singer and her boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, have yet to reveal, is not. On March 5, the Grammy winner shared two new photos and a video of her little one reacting to the news that he's not going to the Oscars with his mom on Instagram.
In reality, Rihanna's son, who was born in May 2022, isn't old enough to care that his mom is set to perform her Oscar-nominated song, "Lift Me Up," from "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" during the March 12 ceremony. However, any excuse to share cute baby photos should be taken. In the first pic, the baby is pouting and looking up from his baby bed. That's followed by a video of Rihanna's son reacting to her music video for the Oscar-nominated song, followed by...

Six years after his successful adaptation of "Mortal Kombat," Paul W.S. Anderson wrote and directed "Resident Evil," which was loosely based on the survival horror game franchise by Capcom. While some elements of the 2002 film mirrored certain aspects of the first two "Resident Evil" games, Anderson took the pulp, sci-fi horror route with his first installment in a sprawling franchise. Anderson's "Resident Evil" is trashy in an entertaining way — despite being critically panned, the film was a massive commercial success and praised by audiences for its gory, fast-paced plot. And oh, also, zombie dogs.
The film's protagonist, Alice (Milla Jovovich), has never been a character in the games. In "Resident Evil," she is first introduced as an amnesiac on a quest to learn the truth about her identity, while stuck in an underground facility called the Hive that harbors a terrible secret. Surrounded by commandos of the nefarious Umbrella Corporation,...

Director/producer Andrew Saullo is back once again with another video involving the trio of actors from the original Resident Evil cutscenes. This time, it’s a short film entitled Resident Evil: Resurrection, which stars Charlie Kraslavsky, Greg Smith and Eric Pirius, reprising their roles as Chris Redfield, Barry Burton and Albert Wesker, respectively.
The three minute short sees Chris Redfield teaming up with former partner, Barry Burton, to deal with Albert Wesker once again. If you recall the image that appeared online back in June that featured Kraslavsky as Chris, that was Resident Evil: Resurrection.
Saullo states that the short was made with little in the way of resources, but could potentially be turned into a more in-depth short with higher production values if fans show interest. This would be separate from Saullo’s main project, an adaptation of The Keeper’s Diary starring Kraslavsky as the Umbrella researcher...

The Resident Evil franchise is responsible for some of the most chilling moments in interactive media, forcing players to confront man-eating biohazards since the mid 90s. This massive success is ongoing, with new sequels and remakes releasing pretty much every year, but what I think is amazing is that this series of games with little to no regard for conventional storytelling is somehow the franchise that spawned seven big-screen adaptations, a handful of animated films and a short-lived TV show. Meanwhile, there’s still no sign of that Metal Gear Solid movie!
Don’t get me wrong, the Resident Evil games boast plenty of memorable characters with interesting backstories, but these titles have always been more about the player-driven narrative derived from personally outsmarting Umbrella and escaping horrific situations rather than any cohesive yarn. That’s why it’s no surprise that the first Resident Evil movie actually has very...

Note: Spoilers ahead for the “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3
Klaus Hargreeves knows a thing or two about highs and lows, and Robert Sheehan predicts there may be more turbulence to come after that shocking “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3 finale.
The fan-favorite character, played by Sheehan in the Netflix series adaptation of Gerard Way’s graphic novels, has been through the wringer since birth thanks to his mysterious, sometimes terrifying ability to commune with the dead — and thanks to his egregious upbringing at the hands of adoptive father Reginald Hargreeves (Colm Feore). That second part is true of all the Umbrella Academy siblings, to be sure, but Klaus has always been uniquely terrified of his father thanks to a traumatic forced graveyard encounter in his childhood that also left him unprepared to embrace his abilities and live up to his potential. Until he gets some much-need guidance in Season 3 from… Reginald?...

On top of Rihanna’s myriad other business endeavors — she sings, she’s a cosmetics mogul with her own Fenty Beauty brand, she’s a lingerie tycoon and fashion designer — the “Umbrella” crooner is also a budding real estate mogul, with five multimillion-dollar homes in Los Angeles alone. And if you’ve got an extra $80,000 burning a proverbial hole in your pocket, you could have the honor of calling Rihanna your landlord for a full month.
With five bedrooms and seven bathrooms spread across 7,600 square feet of mansion-sized living space, the Coldwater Canyon mansion is the ideal place for any oligarch to recover from the Covid blues in style. Rihanna purchased the house late last year for $13.8 million, adding to her impressive cache of homes. She also owns the house right next door, picked up in March for $10 million, along with a $6.8 million Hollywood Hills estate, a high-floor condo along the Wilshire Corridor,...

While longtime fans of the series will already know exactly what to expect of Resident Evil 3 remake’s reimagined campaign, the same can’t be said for its accompanying multiplayer experience.
An asymmetrical affair that pits four survivors against one all-powerful Mastermind (all player-controlled), Resident Evil Resistance is shaping up to be an excellent accompaniment to Jill Valentine’s struggle to escape Raccoon City and the clutches of Nemesis and today, Capcom has decided to share a wealth of new details for the mode, including two new maps and aforementioned Masterminds. We’ll get to the specifics in just a second, but first, you can check out the gallery below for a first look at Alex Wesker and the granddaddy of Umbrella himself, Ozwell E. Spencer.
As with both previously revealed Masterminds Daniel Fabron and Annette Birkin, Spencer and Wesker will have access to their own special abilities and playstyles.

Following a quick teaser was released during the Oscars, fans of the children’s classic were treated with a two minute, 26-second trailer Monday morning as Poppins says that she’s “come back to look after the Banks children” once again.
Taking place 25 years after the first film, “Mary Poppins Returns” sees the titular nanny (Emily Blunt) return to pay a visit to the now grown up Jane and Michael Banks (Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw), the latter of whom has three children, Annabelle, Georgie and John.
