- In a 1994 TCM interview, Jackie Cooper said that Taurog, who was his uncle, coerced Jackie into sobbing for an emotional scene in Skippy by convincing the child actor that his pet dog had been shot just before the cameras rolled. For their efforts on Skippy, Cooper was the youngest person nominated to date for the Best Actor Academy Award and Taurog actually won a Best Director Oscar.
