Put it your calendar to wear your tights and capes on June 26, 2026 as the Warner Bros/DC Studios feature take of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will hit theaters.
There are no wide entries dated on Supergirl’s weekend.
The Craig Gillespie directed, Milly Alcock starring adaptation of Tom King’s 2022 comic book series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which Bilquis Evely illustrated, is the second feature title under the new DC Studios run by James Gunn and Peter Safran after the former’s Superman movie which hits theaters in July 11, 2025. Ana Nogueira adapted the comic book for the big screen.

"Bones" went off the air in 2017 which, in the grand scheme of things, wasn't all that long ago. Even so, it already feels like something of a dinosaur as it's difficult to imagine any scripted show made recently running more nearly 250 episodes across 12 seasons. That's a heck of a run and, for the main actors on the show, specifically David Boreanaz (Booth) and Emily Deschanel (Brennan), they have to do something to pass the time week-to-week. For Boreanaz, it came down to pulling pranks on the directors sometimes.
In an interview with Build Series in honor of the series finale, Boreanaz was discussing some fun memories he had from working on the show for more than a decade. At one point, the actor explained that when director Jeannot Szwarc (of "Jaws 2" fame) would arrive to helm an episode of the series, he very much enjoyed messing with him. Here's...

Playing an early iteration of the fish-out-of-water elf in the corporate world of New York, Moore has just enough perky charm to redeem an otherwise forgettable seasonal offering
Frankly, I would whisper a tiny humbug to a good deal of this gloopy Christmas movie from 1985, directed by Jeannot Szwarc and now rereleased; and only a sentimental loyalty to the seasonal spirit prevents me from demanding to know if there are no workhouses for the people who made it. The whole thing only comes to something resembling life halfway through, when Dudley Moore’s perky elf takes centre-stage.
There are many other and more deserving yuletide films which should be ahead of this one in the queue for a revival, but my own sweet tooth for Christmassy schmaltz won’t allow me completely to reject this admittedly eventful and bizarre origin myth for Santa Claus, starring David Huddleston as the chortling,...

"This year he Really Is coming to town!" Studiocanal UK has revealed a new trailer for Santa Claus: The Movie, to promote their 4K re-release. "We're delighted to announce that a magical new 4k restoration of the perennial Christmas Classic, Santa Claus: The Movie, from director Jeannot Szwarc will return to cinemas this festive period" starting in late November. The film originally opened in 1985 for the holidays and became a favorite worldwide, though more commonly in the UK than the US. It's not the same as The Santa Clause with Tim Allen, or many of the other animated classics. Santa Claus: The Movie stars David Huddleston as Santa, Dudley Moore, John Lithgow, Judy Cornwell, Jeffrey Kramer, and many others. The legend of Santa Claus is put in jeopardy when an unscrupulous toy manufacturer attempts to take over Christmas. This is definitely a good one to catch up with and show...

Marc Gilpin, the child actor who played a son of Roy Scheider’s Police Chief Martin Brody in 1978’s Jaws 2, died Saturday in Dallas of the aggressive brain cancer glioblastoma. He was 56.
His death was announced by his sister, the Frasier actor Peri Gilpin.
Marc Gilpin, born in Austin, Texas, had already appeared in commercials, the Saturday morning NBC series Thunder (1977) and, in 1978, the film Where’s Willy? when, at 11, he was cast in director Jeannot Szwarc’s sequel to Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster Jaws. While Scheider and Lorraine Gary reprised their roles as Brody and wife Ellen, the young actors playing the characters’ two sons in the original film, Chris Rebello and Jay Mello, had outgrown the roles and were replaced by Mark Gruner (as elder son Mike) and Gilpin (as Sean).

Marc Gilpin, who played the younger son of Roy Scheider’s Police Chief Martin Brody in Jaws 2, has died. He was 56.
Gilpin died Saturday in Dallas after a long battle with glioblastoma, his older sister, Frasier actress Peri Gilpin, announced.
After answering a casting call, Gilpin beat out hundreds of other boys to get hired as Sean Brody in the 1978 sequel to the blockbuster Jaws (1975), directed by Steven Spielberg. He was 11 when the movie reached theaters.
Jaws 2 was directed by Jeannot Szwarc. Lorraine Gary returned as Chief Brody’s wife, but their sons, Michael and Sean, portrayed by Chris Rebello and Jay Mello in the original, were replaced by Mark Gruner and Gilpin in the second film.
A year later, Gilpin guest-starred on NBC’s CHiPs and appeared with his younger sister, April, on ABC’s Fantasy Island. In 1981, he was in the films The Legend of the Long Ranger and Earthbound.

2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the release of Jaws 2 (watch it Here), the most well-regarded of the Jaws sequels – and Universal is celebrating the occasion by giving the film a 4K Uhd release! The Jaws 2 4K Uhd will be available on July 4th, which seems like a fitting date since the first Jaws is a Fourth of July classic. Copies can be pre-ordered at This Link.
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc from a screenplay written by Carl Gottlieb and Howard Sackler, Jaws 2 has the following synopsis: It’s been four years since that marauding great white shark terrorized the small summer resort of Amity; but the shark that Police Chief Brody destroyed wasn’t the only one in the ocean! The same heart-stopping suspense and gripping adventure that enthralled movie audiences throughout the world in Jaws returns in this worthy sequel to that film classic.

2023 marks the 45th anniversary of the release of Jaws 2 (watch it Here), the most well-regarded of the Jaws sequels. So it seems quite appropriate that a cool Jaws 2 discovery had been made this year: The Daily Jaws has found a long-lost scene from the film, and the only known footage of this scene comes from a Brazilian VHS! This leads me to believe that the scene was probably always included in the Brazilian home video release of Jaws 2, but that’s not completely clear from the report on The Daily Jaws.
What we do know is that Jaws 2 begins with a pair of divers being attacked by a shark while checking out the sunken wreckage of the Orca boat from the first movie. Later in the film, Deputy Hendricks (Jeffrey Kramer) is shown to have retrieved the underwater camera that was dropped by the divers. In this lost footage,...

Wow, a ‘new’ Sam Peckinpah western! While we await the rumored Blu-ray of Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid to surface (or was Alex Cox misinformed?), correspondent Darren Gross has come across a watchable web encoding of a Peckinpah TV drama that seems to be more or less ‘lost.’ Good star performances and intense characterizations prove once again that Peckinpah could deliver superior dramatics. The home video companies should do some investigating — there’s a market out there for this one.

The Jaws movie series is one of the greatest suspense thrillers. Produced and distributed by Universal Pictures, the series had a troubled production, owing to its over budget and behind schedule.
However, the series grabbed three Academy Awards, including best film editing, original dramatic score, and sound.
Viewers of Jaws movie can be stunned at the quality and realism of the film made in 1975. Directed by Steven Spielberg, cast of Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, and Richard Dreyfuss, the movie captures pure terror in scenes.
Many viewers believe that the original Jaws movie produced in 1975 is a classic film among all the Jaws series. “Jaws” was so successful that it led to three sequels.

"E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" is a sentimental ode to the magic of childhood that exemplifies the exhilarating power of cinema. But it wasn't always supposed to be an uplifting family-friendly adventure; it was originally planned to be quite the opposite — a horror film. After the success of "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," a thoughtful meditation on human nature with some eerie moments, Columbia wanted to make a sequel. Steven Spielberg had no interest, but after the release of the middling "Jaws 2" from Universal, directed by Jeannot Szwarc, he wanted to be involved somehow.

A modern-day mythologist with a populist bent, Rod Serling fused the cautionary tales of fantasists like Ray Bradbury to the righteous anger of muckrakers like Ambrose Bierce and A.J. Leibling. Add to that mix the never ending run-ins with network honchos and we can assume that the beleaguered Everyman who populated Serling’s most enduring creation was more than a little autobiographical.
Serling began his long journey on October 2, 1959—and while the signpost up ahead may have read “The Twilight Zone”, the world-weary Serling’s real destination was the past. An early entry in that ground-breaking series was the writer’s own Walking Distance, the story of Martin Sloan, a burned-out ad man who, thanks to some homespun hocus-pocus, has a heart-to-heart chat with his own 11-year-old self.

Class of 1981: Celebrating the Surprising and Ambitious Production of The Last Shark aka Great White
While Universal was working on the second sequel of Jaws (1975), the franchise famously created by Steven Spielberg then passed on to Jeannot Szwarc in 1978, poliziesco specialist Enzo G. Castellari shot L’ultimo squalo between the U.S. and Malta, creating quite a few headaches within white-collar Hollywood. The film did overwhelmingly and surprisingly well, grossing $18 million in the first month of programming, a fact that greatly annoyed Universal, which filed a lawsuit for plagiarism. To be precise, this was the studio’s second attempt at blocking the film. Universal attempted to stop distribution by Film Ventures before its U.S. premiere on March 5th, 1982, but the request was denied in the U.S. district courts. If, on the one hand, the filiation of Castellari's film from the original one is quite evident (with similar characters and narrative solutions), on the other it is also clear that Universal activated its legal team...

Supergirl is flying to the big screen again.
Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are in the early stages of a “Supergirl” film. They have hired Oren Uziel to write the script, but have not found a producer yet.
The character has been played by Melissa Benoist in the titular CW series that’s heading into its fourth season and is overseen by Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, and Allison Adler.
The “Supergirl” character first appeared in “Action Comics #252” from writer Otto Binder and illustrator Al Plastino. It followed Kara Zor-El, who was born and raised in Argo City, a fragment of Krypton that survived destruction. When the city is doomed, Kara is sent to Earth by her parents to be raised by her cousin Kal-El, known as Superman. Supergirl adopted the secret identity of orphan Linda Lee and made Midvale Orphanage her home.

Updated: With Wednesday, Thursday and Friday events. Captain Marvel, The Guardians of the Galaxy and whoever is alive from The Avengers won’t be showing up in San Diego, but there will be plenty of other big screen rivals to keep the temperature at a scorching level in Hall H.
At this point in time, many film screenings are oddly missing from the lineup, except for kiddie pic Teen Titans Go! To the Movies! on Friday. Perhaps there will be more as they’re often announced at the last minute or suddenly during the confab (Read Lionsgate’s Blair Witch). Comic-Con has traditionally been a successful launch pad for such fan faves as Sausage Party, Star Trek Beyond, The Visit, Annabelle: Creation and Don’t Breathe. Don’t worry, on the TV side there’s the AMC premiere of Better Call Saul season 4.

The scariest moment in “Jaws” doesn’t include a shark on-screen. It comes when Quint describes Navy crewmen, survivors of the sunken USS Indianapolis, being eaten alive in a shark feeding frenzy in 1945. Steven Spielberg wanted “Jaws 2” to tell that true story: Think “Saving Private Ryan,” with sharks.
The “Jaws” sequel that might have been is one topic of discussion in our new “Shoot This Now” podcast, which you can listen to on Apple or right here:
Our guest for the episode is Mark Ramsey, host of the stunning “Inside Jaws” podcast. Besides recounting Spielberg’s journey as he directed “Jaws,” it also re-enacts some of the hellish shark attacks that inspired the film.
Also Read: 'Inside Jaws,' About Steven Spielberg's Rise, Lures Hollywood Interest (Podcast)
What makes Quint’s story so scary is its accuracy. Almost everything he says is based in fact.

What’s your earliest horror memory, the moment you were irreversibly scarred yet knew you had to see and know more? Which one imprinted on you at a stupidly impressionable age? Do you remember? Because I never could; save for one indelible image burned on my psyche at the age of five, I have searched, asked, and pleaded with so many people what possible movie could have done this to me as a child. Until last night that is, when I stumbled upon The Devil’s Daughter (1973), an ABC TV movie that finally put a name to the image, even if I did somewhat misremember it. Time plus kindertrauma equals new memories, I guess? Yay to ongoing decrepitude!
Originally airing on January 9th as an ABC Tuesday Movie of the Week, The Devil’s Daughter was up against Hawaii Five-o over on CBS while NBC rolled out their own Tuesday Night at the Movies.

Hey, "Grey's Anatomy" fans. It's that time again. It's time to go over what is in store for the next, new episode 19 of this 14th season. ABC recently put out a press release for it. As usual, it features a short teaser description along with a title and some other production information such as casting intel, writers and directors. We'll go ahead and start this session off like we always do by telling you guys what the producers decided to name this one. It's officially entitled, "Beautiful Dreamer." ABC began this press release by putting in all caps the following words: "An Ice Agent Arrives At Grey Sloan, On ABC's 'Grey's Anatomy'" The first storyline teaser that the main description points out reveals that we'll see somebody from Ice arrive on the scene at Grey Sloan. This person will be trying to track down someone who may be working undercover.

Known as the King of the Gimmicks, producer/director William Castle will surely be remembered for such B staples as House on Haunted Hill (1959), The Tingler (also ’59) and 13 Ghosts (1960), cheap but fun pictures with added pleasure for the moviegoer by the use of ingenious devices such as Emergo, Percepto, and Illusion-o. It’s only fitting that he ended his career as co-writer/producer of Jeannot Szwarc’s Bug (1975), a nature gone amok flick that becomes a Weird-o halfway through to detail a descent into madness.
Distributed by Paramount Pictures in June, Bug didn’t make much of a dent in the summer box office, bringing in a little over $3.6 million and infuriating critics. Richard Eder of The New York Times called it “sick, and literally sickening.” Some people just can’t handle arson prone killer cockroaches, I guess. Never mind them, because the rest of us get to revel in...

It's hard to believe the Kings of Con (Supernatural Con, that is) never shared an episode during the 12-season run that's helped to make them adored by so many.
But thanks to executive producer Adam Glass of Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders (who was also a producer on Supernatural from 2010-15), Rob Benedict and Richard Speight, Jr., have filmed their first episode of network television together!!
We had the opportunity to speak with both men about their guest starring roles, their friendship, the cross-pollination of the Supernatural family a lot more. Check out excerpts of our conversations with both Rob and Richard below.

Our latest The Bottom Shelf DVD and Blu-ray round-up features Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, Jaws: The Revenge and Chuck Norris...
With Shark Week arguably America’s most beloved religious festival and the unprecedented worldwide cultural impact of Anthony C. Ferrante’s acclaimed Sharknado trilogy showing no sign of letting up, who could deny the necessity of the Jaws sequels finally getting a Blu-ray release?
The immediate answer is obvious (well, anyone), though this belated look at Jaws 2, Jaws 3-D, Jaws: The Revenge and Jaws 5: The Sharkening was, for this writer at least, a nostalgic journey through a world where morbidly obese fish bear grudges, Michael Caine fights a script far deadlier than any marine predator and where lines such as “Weld that sonuvabitch” are somehow deemed passable.
Generally considered the best of the sequels, perhaps Jaws 2 holds a special place in the heart of the reader who,...

From Jaws 2 to Die Hard and Star Wars, the movie scenes that some swear exist - but were never shot...
This article contains a spoiler for the ending of Big.
I can still see it clear as day. The year was 1992 and I was watching Batman Returns on the big screen, when I was possibly a little too young for it. During the climax the Penguin’s base has been destroyed, Catwoman has gained revenge on Max Shreck and Batman watches a chorus of sad penguins drag their fallen master to the water.
One particular image always stuck with me - the Penguin’s lifeless body floating in the water looking up at the camera, and as it passes out of frame Batman’s torn mask can be seen at the bottom of the water. The only problem with this poetic image is it doesn’t exist.

It's not that long ago that a sequel that did 65% of the original's business was deemed a success. Tell that to Spider-Man today...
When Tim Burton's Batman Returns was released in the summer of 1992, Warner Bros had high hopes. It was the follow-up to his 1989 Batman movie, which had shattered the record for a film's opening weekend at the Us box office (marking the first $40m+ opening on record in the States).
Batman went on to gross $251m at the American box office alone, and is credited as being a major stepping stone in the invention of the modern blockbuster (after the likes of Jaws and Star Wars). Hopes were not small for the sequel.
Even as late as the early 1990s, the main indicator of a film's commercial success lay in its American box office takings. By that kind of measure, this summer's Terminator: Genisys would have been...

From thrillers to sci-fi to horror, here's our pick of 20 films from 1986 that surely deserve a bit more love...
A fascinating year for film, 1986. It was a time when a glossy, expensive movie about handsome men in planes could dominate the box-office, sure (that would be Top Gun). But it was also a year when Oliver Stone went off with just $6m and came back with Platoon, one of the biggest hits of the year both financially and in terms of accolades. It was also a period when the British movie industry was briefly back on its feet, resulting in a new golden age of great films - one or two of them are even on this list.
As ever, there were certain films that, despite their entertainment value or genuine brilliance in terms of movie making, somehow managed to slip through the net. So to redress the balance a little,...

In the wake of the Alien 5 news, here are 10 franchise sequels that also ignored at least one previous film.
We all have moments in our lives we'd prefer to forget, and so too do filmmakers. So what do you do when a movie franchise starts to go off the rails? Simple, just forget that the lesser films in the series never happened.
News recently broke that director Neill Blomkamp's taking this approach to the Alien universe. Recent interviews with both he and returning star Sigourney Weaver have revealed that Blomkamp's forthcoming sequel will not necessarily follow the events of Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection, and pick up the story from Aliens instead (although he has since given a brief update on that).
Of course, we'll have to wait and see exactly how all this pans out. But it's by no means the first time in history that a film's...

Scandal, Season 4, Episode 6, “An Innocent Man”
Written by Zahir McGhee
Directed by Jeannot Szwarc
Airs Thursdays at 9pm Est on ABC
On this week’s Scandal, Olivia visits Jake, a former first lady charms Mellie, Abby discovers Cyrus’s secret, and Fitz grants Olivia a favor.
Despite the title, “An Innocent Man” isn’t about the men of Scandal, it’s about the women. Mellie, Olivia, Abby, and even Quinn all have significant wins, making the episode a nice departure from the past five. Also, it’s the first time any of the women have felt like their old selves in a long while, particularly Olivia, who hasn’t been fully herself since the arrival of her father to D.C.
Remember back to season one, when the gladiators (also, how long has it been since any of Olivia’s team referred to themselves as such?) insisted Pope and Associates a no-cry zone?...
