Here's a little announcement that slipped by us. Zapper, a dark comedy about the rise and fall of a teenage evangelist, is heading to the big screen from Whitewater Films. Rick Rosenthal ("Bad Boys") will direct from a screenplay by Jim Strain ("Jumanji"). The film takes a satirical look at a young preacher who becomes a local sensation after appearing to communicate with the dead through a TV remote control. Whitewater's Valeska Ramet, Doug Sutherland and Gary Dean Simpson will produce the film. Whitewater president Rosenthal, whose helming credits also include Dimension's "Halloween: Resurrection," is now casting the indie feature. The production company's other films include the thriller "Mean Creek," the Lisa Kudrow comedy "Kabluey" and the upcoming drama "Greta" starring Hilary Duff and Ellen Burstyn.
