- 1964 Formula 1 World Champion. Only man to win world championships on two (motorcycles) and four wheels (race cars).
- He was awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) in the Queens Honours List before being awarded the OBE (Officer of the Order of the British Empire) for his services to Motorsport and to charity in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honors List.
- He was awarded the CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in the 2016 Queen's New Years Honours List for his services to Motorsports. He lives in Lingfield, Surrey, England.
