Started writing in 1900. Published his first novel, "Birthright", in
1921. In the 21 years between he wrote everything ranging from Sunday
school primers to pulp fiction and occasionally taught school.
His stories were published under the name T.S. Stribling to save ink.
Won the 1933 Pulitzer Prize for his novel "The Store". The novel is the
middle chapter of a trilogy, starting with "The Forge" (1931) and
ending with "Unfinished Cathedral" (1934).
Most of his stories were set in his two home states, Tennessee and
Alabama.
