Marla Stone was born in Hollywood, California. Her father
Howard Stone, a CPA is from Chicago Il., and her mother Anneliese, a
Beautician, was from Frankfurt Germany, and grew up during Hitler's
reign of terror. Marla was raised by her father and step-mother
Marilyn, an elementary school teacher, who was from Brooklyn, New York.
Marla grew up in West Covina, CA. until she was 14 and then moved to
San Marino, CA. Marla graduated from San Marino High School. Marla
performed in every play her elementary school, Junior High and High
School produced during her years of school. Marla did summer stock
children's theater in West Covina and Pasadena. Marla studied theater
at Humboldt State University, and then quit school to pursue her dream
to be an actress. She moved to Hollywood in the early 1980's, at 19
years old. Marla then studied with Stella Adler, Uta Hagen and Robert
Easton privately. Marla was in Hollywood for a period of 3 1/2 years
when she decided to go back to school. Marla has a BA in Psychology and
a Master's in Social Work. She worked as a therapist for 17 years and
became a Mental Health Advocate. Marla has written a book and developed
a specialized program on Medication and Treatment Alliance for people
with chronic mental and medical health challenges.
Marla returned to acting in 2010 to continue her dream of being an actress, and has been doing independent films and theater.
