Martha Stewart’s ex-husband, Andrew Stewart, and his wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, voiced their opinions on Stewart’s new Netflix documentary, Martha. In it, the businesswoman gave details about her toxic relationship with Andrew, whom she was married to from 1961 to 1990.
The documentary, which was released on Oct. 30, has been a hot topic after the trailer showed Stewart, 83, accuse Andrew of destroying their marriage by way of multiple affairs.
“I don’t know how many different girlfriends he had, but I think there were quite a few,” she said. “If you’re married, and you think you’re happily married, and your husband starts to cheat on you, he’s a piece of s—. Look at him as a piece of s–t and get out of it, get out of that marriage.”

There’s a wrestling match that runs through “Martha,” the Netflix documentary that paints a vivid portrait of Martha Stewart.
Veteran filmmaker R.J. Cutler spars, mostly gently, with the doyenne of domesticity during the one-on-one interview sessions that anchor the narrative. At times Stewart comes alive in the retelling of aspects of her life; at others she seems to be enjoying the questioning only a little more than she would a deposition.
With her eighty-something insouciance, Stewart gives off the vibe that she’s putting up with it all because she hopes to get her larger story told to a new generation, and to have her legacy reconsidered by the Baby Boomers and Gen Xers who made her a superstar.
“Martha” mines a wealth of archival material on its subject to great effect. The film also does a good job of putting into contemporary perspective Stewart’s achievements and her...

After Martha Stewart dredged up her earlier marriage, her ex, Andy Stewart, it was hard for him to just stand by. She calls out “cheaters” with shocking information about her former husband. But now he is defending his point of view saying it was a “painful and abusive” marriage for him.
Martha Stewart Exposes Affairs
Recently, Martha Stewart called out her ex-husband, Andy Stewart in the Netflix docuseries about their past. When Netflix released Martha it raised many eyebrows. According to the synopsis, the docuseries was “Told in her own words.” Furthermore, it says, “This candid documentary charts the unstoppable rise, sudden fall, and hard-won comeback of lifestyle icon Martha Stewart.” But Martha criticized the editing of the series. One area in particular was the inclusion of her fling with someone during her marriage to Andy Stewart. While she was clear about her repugnance over her ex-husband cheating, she causally blew off her infidelity.

All’s fair in love and war, eh? Or the comedy game? How do you say that in the comedy world? Anyway, most of us by now know that if we wanted a candid assertion from someone of someone, the one person to turn to is Martha Stewart.
The model, actress, lifestyle guru and businesswoman is not afraid to dish it out whenever she feels the need to. And this time, you could say she’s got a partner in crime.
Hugh Jackman – Sides With Martha Stewart: “Finally Someone Says It”
Think comedy in movies, who does your mind drift to? If you’re not thinking of dear old Rowan Atkinson – Mr. Bean for the uninitiated – then one of the other people you’re thinking of likely includes Ryan Reynolds. The guy can deliver a good punchline, can’t he? ‘Green Lantern,’ ‘Red Notice,’ ‘Deadpool,’ and so on and so forth.

Martha Stewart‘s new Netflix documentary dives into her tumultuous 29-year marriage to Andy Stewart, and her ex-husband and his current wife have responded. In a Facebook post, Andy’s wife, Shyla Nelson Stewart, addressed the Netflix doc Martha. The post, which was signed by Syla and Andy, stated it would be their “only public comment on this subject.” “As some of you know, my husband is Andrew Stewart – brilliant publisher, avocational naturalist and nature photographer, and one of the gentlest, most soft-spoken, kind-hearted men I’ve ever known,” Shyla wrote. “No one was more surprised than we when, after being introduced as colleagues almost 12 years ago, our connection blossomed into a deep and everlasting love.” Shyla went on to say that she and Andy have “built a life of beauty, meaning, productivity, and purpose, infused with true love, which we share as fully as we can with our beautiful...

Martha Stewart made a claim in her Netflix documentary about a columnist who covered her trial in the early 2000s.
The 83-year-old media mogul looked back on her trial and when the guilty verdict came on in the doc, recalling what New York Post columnist Andrea Peyser had said about her.
Martha said the “New York Post lady was there, just looking so smug. She had written horrible things during the entire trial. But she is dead now, thank goodness. And nobody has to put up with the crap she was writing all the time.”
Well, that columnist is still very much alive and she’s got some words to say about Martha in a savage new column for the New York Post.
Keep reading to find out more…
“I’m alive, b-tch!” she starts out. “Even if the Domestic Dominatrix thinks she’s finished me off.”
“News of my passing came as a shock.

For seven consecutive weeks, Max/HBO’s “The Penguin” has ruled the streaming chart, much in the way its titular character hopes to reign over the crime underworld of Gotham City. No one and nothing, ranging from diplomats to lawyers, from Halloween horrors to Martha Stewart, could unseat the show this week on Samba TV’s Weekly Wrap Report.
With one more episode to go, it’s highly likely “The Penguin” will make it a clean eight-week sweep atop the chart – and possibly extend its tenure beyond new episodes, as we saw with “House of the Dragon” over the summer.
Let’s look at the challengers who may hope to hold the crown once “The Penguin’s” season ends.
In second this week is “Don’t Move,” the Netflix horror film that likely got a Halloween-time bump in ratings. At No. 3 is another gangster story, albeit one a bit lighter in tone,...

Martha Stewart’s not a big fan of Netflix’s Martha documentary. The ending, in particular, is a sore spot for her. Following the documentary’s release on Oct. 30, 2024, Stewart revealed why she “hate[s]” the final scenes. That’s not all. There are plenty of other things she doesn’t like about it, and a select few she does.
She doesn’t like ‘looking like a lonely old lady’ at the end of ‘Martha’
Stewart gave her thoughts on filmmaker R.J. Cutler’s Martha documentary in a phone conversation with The New York Times in what became, per the interviewer, “roughly 30 almost uninterrupted minutes of sharp critique.”
If it were up to Stewart, the shots of her walking through her garden wouldn’t have made the final cut. “Those last scenes with me looking like a lonely old lady walking hunched over in the garden? Boy, I told him to get rid of those.

‘The Substance’ Does Equal to ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ on PVOD, but ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ Is Bigger
Warner Bros.’ woes with “Joker: Folie à Deux” continue with a weak debut on PVOD. The disastrous around $300 million investment for them left theaters after four weeks with under $60 million in domestic gross. Now, it is falling flat in initial PVOD response.
It placed fourth on both iTunes (which ranks by transactions) and Fandango (revenue-counting) after its release last Tuesday. “The Substance” (Mubi), released on Thursday (and also streaming at their site for subscribers), is third at iTunes, sixth at Fandango, debuts at #1.

He’s probably on the list just ‘cause he covers himself up in his movies and you don’t see his face.
You want to know something? He’s not so funny in real life. No, he’s not so funny. He’s very serious.

When a filmmaker directs a documentary of a living subject, no doubt they want their stamp of approval. It’s not only good publicity, but shows you did a good job in your work. For R.J. Cutler, both couldn’t be further from his reach with his new doc on Martha Stewart. As it turns out, pissing off Stewart was a bad move.
While Martha Stewart admitted she liked the first half of the documentary, as a whole she has major problems with it, calling out R.J. Cutler for his misuse of resources and leaning too heavy on easy headlines. “R.J. had total access, and he really used very little. It was just shocking.” She added that Cutler constantly removed fun stories that Stewart shared and instead chose to put a major spotlight on her infamous 2004 trial which revolved around her involvement in a stock trading scandal, resulting...

Ryan Reynolds likely won’t be giving Martha Stewart a good laugh anytime soon.
The celebrity chef shared her honest thoughts on the Deadpool & Wolverine star during a recent appearance on Bilt Rewards’ November Rent Free game show. For one of the questions, she was asked which celebrities she thought Bilt members named as “the most fun to hang out with.”
Automatically, Stewart guessed her good friend Snoop Dogg was on the list, and she was correct. However, she was a bit shocked by the next person on the list.

Our top pick this week, director Coralie Fargeat’s horror film “The Substance,” will compete in the Musical or Comedy category at the Golden Globes. Some viewers were scandalized that a film as gross and shocking could be considered a comedy, while others understood that even if “The Substance” isn’t exactly laugh-out-loud funny, its commentary on beauty standards and its gruesome, over-the-top excess make it a satire. Movies can be more than one thing at a time!
“The Substance” stars Demi Moore in what many critics have said is the best performance of her career as Elisabeth, a 50-year-old actress whose career is in decline. She begins taking a mysterious serum called the Substance, which causes a “younger, more beautiful, more perfect” sort of clone of herself (Margaret Qualley) to grow out of her back. The bodies share one consciousness, and Elisabeth has to alternate weeks in each body while the other replenishes.

It's the first weekend of November, and Halloween's officially in the past. While that doesn't mean that you have to stop watching horror movies and other spooky things, a lot of people will be following the orders of Mariah Carey, who has declared that "it's time" to start celebrating Christmas.
On the first day of November, Netflix drops nearly a dozen recent Hallmark Christmas movies, including Bethany Joy Lenz's A Biltmore Christmas and Lacey Chabert's Haul Out the Holly and its sequel. The over-sized drop of holiday rom-coms leads to the kickoff of Netflix's original Christmas movie spree throughout the month, beginning next week.
But if you're not quite ready to get festive for a December holiday quite yet, there's plenty of Netflix new releases on the menu that have nothing to do with Halloween, Christmas, or even Thanksgiving. The Diplomat returns with its second season, a new...

Influencing millions before the internet age is like starting a fire without a match, in the dark, and with your hands tied behind your back: It takes grit, ingenuity, and, above all else, an unmatched instinct to survive.

A new documentary about Martha Stewart has hit Netflix. The documentary tells the story of the once-successful businesswoman who spent time in prison for fraud. While Martha had a lot to do with the documentary, she is not happy with how it turned out. In a recent interview, she slammed the director.
Here is what she had to say about the new Netflix documentary.
Martha Stewart Bashes Her Netflix Documentary
There are lots of things in the documentary that paint her in an unflattering light, including her admission she cheated in her marriage. However, she has no problem with that since her interviews told the story. She is mad about how director R.J. Cutler pieced together the documentary.
Simply titled, Martha, the synopsis reads: “Told in her own words, this candid documentary charts the unstoppable rise, sudden fall, and hard-won comeback of lifestyle icon Martha Stewart.”

Documentary filmmaker R.J. Cutler (“Billie Eilish: The World is a Little Blurry”) is enjoying a busy fall with two documentaries releasing back to back. Netflix is now streaming “Martha,” his searing and fascinating portrait of the lifestyle icon, and Disney+ will air his moving tribute “Elton John: Never Too Late” after its November 15 theatrical release. Screen Talk sat down with Cutler for a live interview at the Toronto International Film Festival (the full conversation is here) to dig into both films.
What’s surprising about “Martha” is how much Stewart cooperated, letting Cutler look at her prison diaries, for example. Her powerful personality is not always a pretty picture. What’s surprising about “Martha” is how much Stewart cooperated, letting Cutler look at her prison diaries, for example. Her powerful personality is not always a pretty picture. When I set out to see R.J. Cutler’s new documentary, Martha, quite frankly I wasn’t focusing on it other than just another screening I had, and that it would be all about Martha Stewart. So I expected it would be mostly gardening, cooking and setting the perfect dinner-party table.
Boy was I ever wrong, happily so, because this is simply a riveting, candid and surprisingly warts-and-all look at the life and times of Stewart, someone very much in the public eye for much of her career but until now guarding the image and the person behind what we thought we knew about her.
I probably shouldn’t have been surprised, because Cutler is a filmmaker who generally digs deep and manages to present portraits of his subjects that haven’t been seen before. His docus on Anna Wintour, Billie Eilish and John Belushi are proof of that, and...

“Martha,” R.J. Cutler’s film about the life and career of Martha Stewart (it drops today on Netflix), is a splendid documentary. It’s a movie that captures how Martha Stewart’s penetration into American culture seems, in hindsight, as inevitable as it was unlikely. It traces how she started off as a model, then became a New York stockbroker, then moved with her publishing-magnate husband to Westport, Conn., where they bought a fixer-upper, Turkey Hill Farm, whose fixing up, by Martha (she hand-painted the entire farmhouse while listening to the Watergate hearings), became the prototype for her brand of obsessively tasteful rustic “perfection.” It shows us how she launched a prestige catering business and then, with the 1982 book “Entertaining,” launched herself as the doyenne of a new upscale lifestyle culture that would be — in a word — vicarious.

Martha is a new documentary film released on Netflix, covering in great detail the life and works of Martha Stewart, self-admittedly the first American businesswoman to become a billionaire. In this documentary film, directed by R.J. Cutler, the makers directly interview Martha Stewart over the entire duration, making her open up about the best and worst times of her life so far. Overall, Martha seems to be interesting only to those already aware of the American businesswoman and her life’s trajectory, and is mostly an average watch even so.
How did Martha Stewart first gain popularity?
As the interview of Martha Stewart begins in Netflix’s documentary, the earliest memory that she recalls of her childhood days is of her father, Edward Kostyra, who was notoriously strict and old-school in his parenting style. It was Edward who taught all his children how to garden, almost foisting the skill upon...

Martha: Why Does Stewart 'Hate' Her Netflix Documentary? Disappointing Feedback Explained - Main Image
While America's first self-made woman landed her story on Netflix, Martha Stewart is not quite fond of some parts of it. Now, why does Martha hate her own Netflix documentary? Here's what she said.
Why Does Martha Stewart 'Hate' Her Documentary on Netflix?
Directed by R.J. Cutler, who previously helmed The September Issue, Billie Eilish: The World's a Little Blurry, and Elton John: Never Too Late, the documentary Martha wishes to tell the story of one of America's greatest self-made icons.
That, however, doesn't seem to resonate with what Martha Stewart picked up from the recently released documentary.
"R.J. had total access, and he really used very little [from her archives]," Stewart told The New York Times, "It was just shocking."
Martha couldn't grasp how the particular scene where she 'looked like a lonely old lady walking...

1. A Painful Family Legacy
Stewart shares memories of a difficult childhood influenced by her father, Edward Kostyra, who was both a demanding parent and her main source of inspiration. Stewart revealed that her father was harsh, sometimes abusive, and often drank red wine with his morning coffee. Their relationship turned violent when she got engaged to Andrew Stewart, a Jewish man. Her father slapped her hard across the face, refusing to accept her choice of fiancé.
