Ufc Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens went down this past Saturday in San Antonio, Texas, roughly twelve hours after its New Zealand counterpart, Ufc Fight Night: Te Huna vs. Marquardt.
Technically numbered Ufc Fight Night 44, the San Antonio event saw an exciting undercard followed by a main card where all six fights went the distance, something no one could have foretold.
Did Cub Swanson, putting on a sound drubbing of the gritty Jeremy Stephens, do enough to earn himself the next shot at the Ufc featherweight title, once Aldo vs. Mendes 2 plays out this coming August?
What do you do with Kelvin Gastelum, who seems to be experiencing weight cutting issues of late? And where does Ricardo Lamas, the last challenger to fall to the unstoppable Jose Aldo, fit in the grand scheme of things?
On the undercard, you have the debut of a 37 year old heavyweight, Oleksiy Oliynyk, ending...

The second of what you might consider a split double header (Ufc Fight Night: Te Huna vs. Marquardt started at 2:30Am Est, which the San Antonio event ratchets up the action starting at 7:30Pm Est), Ufc Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens, technically Fight Night 44, holds promise of giving us the next contender in the featherweight division, as Cub Swanson (favoured) is likely a shoo-in should he win, while Jeremy Stephens has stated that the Ufc told him he would get a title shot with a victory.
In semi-confirming the news, however, Dana White used the word “probably” – a favourite caveat of his in case a more promising title contender comes along.
Also on the card, Ultimate Fighter 17 winner Kelvin Gastelum looks to continue his solid streak in the Ufc, while the last man to beat Cro Cop, Oleksiy Oliynyk, makes his Ufc debut at age 37. The heavyweight takes on Anthony Hamilton,...

We’re back with the complete preview of Ufc on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz. This time on the Getting Lucky mixed martial arts podcast, I am joined by English Thom Burton of lovely Southampton as my guest co-host. I figured it was time I brought a Brit into the fold. Though all bets are off when we cover the Tuf: Smashes Finale next week.
