- Kathy was born Minnie Higginbottom. She did not like this name and changed it to Kathryn Brant, under which name she did most of her early theatrical work. When she started in TV she was married, so just used her legal married name, Kathy Staff!.
- Her younger daughter, the Rev. Susan Jackson, became one of the first women to be ordained in the Church of England.
- Was the daughter of a clothing company manufacturer and mission church lay reader.
- Wanted to become a ballet dancer but her parents could not afford the tuition fees.
- Her husband, John Staff, died in December 2011.
- First worked as a shorthand typist and then did clerical work for the National Gas & Oil Engine Company in Ashton-under-Lyne. Started acting professionally in 1949 with repertory companies in Scotland and Wales. First screen work was in the early 1960s as an extra on television, for £3 a day.
- A committed Christian, she signed the temperance pledge at 14 and did not drink alcohol in her entire life.
- A memorial service was held for her at St. Paul's Church, Covent Garden on 24th April 2009.
- She regularly worshipped at St. Mark's Church in her home town, Dukinfield, and there is a memorial screen in the church for her.
