CBS has been reeling fans in with dramas for over 50 years now, and it doesn't look like the network has any plans to stop.
The network really has something for everybody in its repertoire, whether you're looking for someone quirky and spooky like The Twilight Zone or want a procedural with dramatic flair like NCIS.
There are decades of dramas to be accounted for, but we're going to focus on some of the more recent dramas on CBS.
However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch CBS classics like Murder, She Wrote, Gunsmoke, Dallas, The Twlight Zone, and more.
When you're not catching up on older CBS classics, here's what we recommend watching for a more modern setting.

Returning for the third installment in the gritty action saga, The Equalizer 3 aims to deepen the mysterious world of Robert McCall. With Denzel Washington’s undeniable charm at its helm and Antione Fuqua’s seasoned direction, the film promises a continuation of its intense street-justice narrative. Yet, does it deliver the high-octane thrills we’ve come to expect, or does it falter under the weight of its own legacy? In addition to Washington, the film also stars Dakota Fanning, Eugenio Mastrandrea, Andrea Scarduzio, and Remo Girone. Richard Wenk returns as screenwriter.
The film starts with one of the bloodiest intro scenes, beginning with Robert McCall (Washington) captured by thugs. They don’t stand a chance, though, as McCall delivers his famed countdown smackdown, and just like that, the bad guys are rendered useless. After the encounter, he ends up in the small Italian town of Altomonte to recover. He stays with the local doctor,...

Low end forecasts have Sony’s Denzel Washington starring, Antoine Fuqua-directed action threequel, The Equalizer 3 at $30M+ over 4-days.
Some box office sources even think the sequel, which was shot in Italy, has a shot at $40M and that’s because of The Equalizer 3‘s big first choice numbers with guys over 25. Even Women over 25 is solid. The one pause is that the nine-year-old franchise’s audience is getting older, and that demo as we all know has a gradual pace to cinemas.
There are no other wide releases over Labor Day weekend, and National Cinema Day isn’t occurring over that four day holiday weekend like last year. Sony has Gran Turismo officially opening wide on Aug. 25, despite the fact that it’s been holding previews since last week.
The Equalizer at the end of September 2014 opened to $34.1M and finaled at $101.5M domestic. The Equalizer 2...

Mary Ingalls actor Melissa Sue Anderson grew up in the spotlight on Little House on the Prairie. She was on the wildly popular show for seven seasons and made guest appearances in the eight. But what is she doing today, all these years later?

Anderson got the role of Mary Ingalls when she was just 11 years old. But before that, she was no stranger to acting. She’d been in various commercials and had scored roles in shows like Bewitched and The Brady Bunch.
In Little House on the Prairie, she played the character of Mary, Laura’s older sister. In the books, Mary didn’t have much of a presence. But the TV show gave the character of Mary some more meat, which Anderson is thankful for.

Sony film boss Tom Rothman took a moment during his studio’s CinemaCon presentation Monday night to nod to a new Nrg study that investigates the most popular movie stars in Hollywood.
Rothman explained that if the pundits are to believed, “movie stars don’t matter anymore,” adding that he really hopes “all my competitors believe that shit” because he most emphatically disagrees. “True movie stars matter more than ever,” Rothman said. “They are just rarer than ever. Streaming doesn’t create movie stars, only global hits do.”
The veteran studio chief used the hot topic as a way to tee up the presentation’s surprise award presentation — a lifetime achievement award — given to Denzel Washington. It was no coincidence as Rothman explained that over the course of his own 30-plus year career, he has worked on 12 films with Washington either as an actor or as a filmmaker with another,...

There have been reports over the last 24 hours of a drugs raid implicating production staff involved in the Italian shoot of The Equalizer 3 on Italy’s Amalfi Coast.
Deadline is hearing from close sources, however, that the arrested parties worked for a catering company which was an independent contractor and would likely be replaced.
They add that the men were arrested after a private gathering on a day off for the country’s November 1 All Saints’ public holiday and were not on set when their alleged crimes took place.
According to reports in the Italian press, Italian paramilitary police raided the accommodation where the men were staying Tuesday and seized 120 grams of cocaine.
Local carabinieri captain Umberto D’Angelantonio said two Roman caterers had been arrested and charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of dealing and were now being held under house arrest at their hotel in the coastal town of Maiori.

Italian paramilitary police raided hotel rooms used by employees of a catering company on “The Equalizer 3” on the Amalfi coast and arrested two caterers after seizing more than 100 grams of cocaine on Tuesday, according to local media.
Italian newspaper Il Giornale reported that Carabinieri cops broke into hotel rooms in the seaside resort of Maiori used by the “Equalizer 3” caterers after the head of the film’s catering service suddenly died of a heart attack on Monday evening. Several small packages of cocaine were subsequently found in the man’s clothing, raising suspicions that there could be more drugs on the production’s premises.

CBS has renewed “The Equalizer,” starring Queen Latifah, for a second season.
The hour-long drama premiered last month in the coveted post-Super Bowl time slot. Airing immediately after the game, the debut averaged 23.8 million total viewers. That was down from what Fox drew to the Season 3 premiere of “The Masked Singer” on the post-game slot a year earlier, but that Super Bowl was much more highly rated than the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ blowout victory this year over the Kansas City Chiefs. “The Equalizer” premiere also drew a 5.1 rating in the 18-49 demo. It was the highest-rated entertainment program since 2020’s Academy Awards telecast. The premiere retained 40% of the Super Bowl audience, the highest post-game retention rate for any Super Bowl lead-out since Fox’s “New Girl” in 2014.
“’The Equalizer’ has proven more than equal to the task of engaging viewers and racking up wins on Sunday night,” said Kelly Kahl,...

Queen Latifah is using everything in her arsenal to bring the titular Robyn McCall to life on CBS’ The Equalizer (Sundays, 8/7c).
The former rapper and singer relies on her musicality when it comes to fight sequences, and her sense of justice as someone who was bullied as a kid growing up in Newark, New Jersey. After last week’s offbeat slate of home media releases, things are back on track this Tuesday, with a wildly eclectic assortment of titles headed home just in time for the Halloween season. If somehow you haven’t been adding any of the Blumhouse movies to your home collections over the years, you can now play catch-up rather easily with their Blumhouse of Horrors: 10-Movie Collection. Vinegar Syndrome is once again doing the dark lord’s work with their releases of Pandemonium and The Caller, and Severin Films is showing some love to both Cruel Jaws and Massacre in Dinosaur Valley, too.
Scream Factory has put together a brand new collector’s edition Blu-ray for Ghost Ship that arrives this week, and if you’re someone who digs on “banana pants” cinematic experiences, you’ll definitely want to pick up Agfa’s Blu-ray for Sometimes Aunt Martha Does Dreadful Things.

CBS has made three series pick ups for the 2020-2021 season.
On the drama side, CBS has ordered the “Equalizer” reboot starring Queen Latifah and “Clarice,” which follows Clarice Starling in the aftermath of “The Silence of the Lambs.” On the comedy side, the network has picked up the multi-cam “B Positive,” which hails from Chuck Lorre.
The shows mark the first shows that were going through the normal pilot season process to get picked up for next season. Nearly all pilots were unable to complete filming before the Covid-19 pandemic forced a suspension of prodution. “B Positive” was one of the only pilots to complete filming before that happened. CBS had originally ordered 14 pilots this season, with both drama “The Lincoln Lawyer” and comedy “Fun” having been passed over in the past week.
CBS renewed the vast majority of its scripted lineup earlier this week, with 23 current shows now set to return next season.

CBS has given a pilot green light to The Equalizer, a reimagining of the classic series with Queen Latifah starring and executive producing. The project, which had a big pilot production commitment and had been considered a shoo-in for a pickup, hails from Take Two creators Andrew Marlowe & Terri Miller, Davis Entertainment, Flavor Unit, Martin Chase Productions, Universal Television and CBS TV Studios.
This mark the third drama pilot order for Davis Entertainment this pilot season at three different networks — Echo at NBC; Rebel, starring Katey Sagal, at ABC, and The Equalizer, toplined by Queen Latifah, at CBS.
Written by Marlowe and Miller, who will serve as showrunners, The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. This is a new take on the character played by Edward Woodward on the original series and by Denzel Washington in the movie franchise.

In the new trailer for The Equalizer 2, Denzel Washington reprises his role as Robert McCall, but it seems as though he has settled down with his life and is happy with being a mild-mannered Lyft driver who minds his business and does his job…that is, until someone does him wrong — like in the trailer above.
As his first sequel of Washington’s career, it looks like he goes big in the frenetic and action-packed trailer. In addition to laying waste to a bunch of creeps who have done a woman wrong, he is out to avenge the death of his former colleague and friend Susan Plummer (Melissa Leo).
In the trailer, Washington did not come to play as he says in a voiceover, “I punish the guilty…if you’re lucky..they give you the opportunity to do the right thing…this ain’t one of those times.

“They killed my friend,” says Denzel Washington as the seeker of justice (or something like it) in this new trailer for Sony’s The Equalizer 2. “So I’m going to kill each and every one of them, and my only disappointment is I only get to do it once.”
In the first sequel of Washington’s career, he returns to the role of Robert McCall, described by Sony as a man who “serves an unflinching justice for the exploited and oppressed – but how far will he go when that is someone he loves?”
The upcoming film, directed by Antoine Fuqua, is written by Richard Wenk, based on the old television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim.
The trailer also includes a telling exchange between McCall and his old cohort played by Melissa Leo. “I thought you were retired,” he says, to which she resonds, “Oh, I am,...

The New York Times and the New Yorker shared the Pulitzer Prize for public service on Monday for their bombshell reporting about movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and multiple accusations of sexual misconduct over the course of several decades.
Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey’s October Times story, followed days later by Ronan Farrow’s New Yorker report detailing more accusations of harassment and even assault, had an almost immediate impact on both Weinstein’s studio and Hollywood more generally.
Within a month, more than 80 women stepped forward with accusations of misconduct against the Oscar-winning mogul — who was quickly fired by The Weinstein Company, the film and TV company he founded with his brother, Bob, and expelled from the Motion Picture Academy. Last month, The Weinstein Company filed for bankruptcy in the aftermath of the scandal.

Denzel Washington's The Equalizer, reuniting the popular actor with Training Day director Antoine Fuqua, topped the Friday box office with $12.6 million-plus from 3,236 theaters, putting it on course for an impressive North American debut in the $36 million-plus range after snagging an A- CinemaScore. It could even hit $37 million. That would mark Washington's second-best opening at the domestic box office after Safe House ($40.2 million) and American Gangster ($43.6 million), not accounting for inflation. Denzel Washington may be a long way from Edward Woodward, but the just-released trailer for the upcoming film version of that 1980s series, showcases Washington’s usual chillier-than-the-Antarctic cool as he comes out of retirement as a black ops commando to rescue a young woman (Chloe Grace Moretz) and deal with Russian mobsters. Antoine Fuqua directs Washington (again), from a screenplay written by Richard Wenk, based on the television series created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim. The film is produced by Washington along with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, Alex Siskin, Steve Tisch, Mace Neufeld, Tony Eldridge and Michael Sloan.

Chloe Moretz forces Denzel Washington out of retirement for one last mission in the first trailer for Antoine Fuqua‘s “The Equalizer.” The Richard Wenk-scripted thriller is a remake of the 1980s television series by Richard Lindheim and Michael Sloan, which starred Edward Woodward in the titular role of Robert “The Equalizer” McCall, a retired intelligence agent turned private detective. This big screen revival has Washington taking over the lead role of the retired black ops commando whose quiet life in Boston is cut short after he attempts to rescue Teri (Moretz), a young prostitute who is kidnapped by Russian gangsters. Although the loose adaptation of Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim’s '80s CBS show no longer has Drive director and Ryan Gosling Bff Nicolas Winding Refn at the helm — Training Day director Antoine Fuqua ended up with that position — there's still a good deal of graphic violence, courtesy of a silent but deadly Denzel Washington to look forward to. The film also stars Chloë Grace Moretz as the woman Washington's former government spy takes on the Russian Mob to save, while Melissa Leo plays the voice of reason. And get used to these characters — the movie isn't out until late September, but a sequel is already in the works.
