The Durban FilmMart Institute has selected a nine-person advisory committee for its long-running co-production and finance market, which takes place in the coastal South African city every year.
Drawing on a mix of industry veterans from Africa, Europe and North America, the committee is tasked with helping the institute in its efforts to facilitate trade and investment in African content while assisting African filmmakers to access international markets.
“We are privileged to have been afforded access to a diverse group of industry role players who are committed to taking African content to the global market, thereby ensuring that Dfmi remains a key entry point that connects our industry to the world,” said Jacintha de Nobrega, chairperson of the Dfmi board of directors.

Darren Mann, Alyssa Goss, Sonja Sohn and Celia Rose Gooding have been cast in “Breakwater.” They join Dermot Mulroney in the crime thriller, which is written and directed by James Rowe, and produced by Loose Cannon Pictures. The film starts principal photography this week in North Carolina.
Mann stars as Dovey, a young ex-con charged with finding the estranged daughter of fellow inmate Ray Childress (Mulroney). Breaking his parole and crossing state lines, Dovey tracks down the enigmatic Eve (Goss). Sohn plays Dovey’s parole officer Bonnie Bell, while Gooding portrays Jess, Eve’s best friend and confidant.

After nearly 11 years at ICM Partners, veteran agent Dana Sims has joined CAA. Sims, who previously spent over 10 years at Wma (William Morris Agency before it became William Morris Endeavor) will be based in the CAA Los Angeles office starting next month.
Clients who will be joining Sims at CAA are Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Pearl Thusi, Alyssa Goss, and Dean Jagger, with others to be announced at a later date.
News of Dana exit comes soon after Deadline reported Laura Gordon, a rising star TV literary agent at ICM, had left the agency to join CAA.

Previously, Sims spent 11 years at ICM. She will be based in the Los Angeles office of CAA.

ICM Partners on Monday joined other music and Hollywood companies in pledging to observe the nationwide “Black Out Tuesday” initiative in response to the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis. Tomorrow’s event will be used as “a day to disconnect from work and reconnect with our community” via “an urgent step of action to provoke accountability and change.”
The company joins fellow agencies CAA, Wme, Apa and Pantheon in the move, which ICM announced after a speech this morning at the weekly all-agency meeting from partner Robert Gibbs, who spoke in a deeply personal way about racism and its effects on him, his children and extended family.
