- Because he has recorded so few albums, he is still largely unknown to the general public, although his 1958 recording of "The Little Drummer Boy", written by Katherine Davis and Henry Onorati, sold in the millions, and is the one which first made the song famous. Simeone was also given credit for the song because he published it.
- He was once an assistant conductor to Fred Waring.
